    Answered by the admin

The number of applications of Chlortan 720 Fungicide required to remove grey leaf spot disease from turf depends on the severity of the infection and the environmental conditions. In general, two to three applications spaced 10 to 14 days apart should be sufficient to control the disease. However, if the infection is severe, you may need to apply chlorothalonil more frequently. It is important to note that chlorothalonil is a contact fungicide, which means it only kills the fungus currently on the leaf. It does not prevent the fungus from reinfesting the leaf, so you may need to reapply the fungicide after it rains or if the leaves get wet. The repeat application advice for most chlorothalonil products specifies that the maximum number of applications per year is 6. This is to prevent the development of resistance to the fungicide. If you need to apply chlorothalonil more than 6 times yearly, consult a lawn care professional. You can tell if Chlortan 720 Fungicide has been successful by looking for the following signs. (1) The spots on the leaves will start to disappear. (2) The leaves will start to look healthier & (3) The turf will start to grow back. If you do not see any of these signs, it is possible that the chlorothalonil has not been effective. In this case, you may need to reapply the fungicide or try a different fungicide. We are unaware of other fungicides that can control Grey Leaf Spot in turf more effectively.

Tips For Use

General Instructions:

Surefire Chlortan 720 Fungicide is a protectant fungicide only. Therefore, to achieve the best results, Surefire Chlortan 720 Fungicide must be applied before diseases occur/become established. Use disease warning services or past history to determine the timing of the first spray. If diseases are already present then an eradication product should be used first and mixed with Surefire Chlortan 720 Fungicide.

Mixing:

  • Slowly invert the container several times to ensure a uniform mixture.
  • Mix the required quantity of product with water in the spray tank with the agitator operating.

Water Volume:

Suggested spray volumes per hectare for non-tree and vine crops:

  • High Volume: 500 litres or more.
  • Mister: 75 to 255 litres.
  • Low volume: 200 litres or more.
  • Aerial application: 20 litres or more.

Application in tree and vine crops:

  • The required water volume may be determined by applying different test volumes, using different settings on the sprayer, from industry guidelines or expert advice.

Application:

Dilute Spraying:

  • Use a sprayer designed to apply high volumes of water up to the point of run-off and matched to the crop being sprayed.
  • Set up and operate the sprayer to achieve even coverage throughout the crop canopy. Apply sufficient water to cover the crop to the point of run-off. Avoid excessive run-off.
  • The required water volume may be determined by applying different test volumes, using different settings on the sprayer, from industry guidelines or expert advice.
  • Add the amount of product specified in the Directions for Use table for each 100 L of water. Spray to the point of run-off.
  • The required dilute spray volume will change and the sprayer set-up and operation may also need to be changed, as the crop grows.

Concentrate Spraying:

  • Use a sprayer designed and set up for concentrate spraying (that is a sprayer that applies water volumes less than those required to reach the point of run-off) and matched to the crop being sprayed.
  • Set up and operate the sprayer to achieve even coverage throughout the crop canopy using your chosen water volume.
  • Determine an appropriate dilute spray volume (see Dilute Spraying above) for the crop canopy.
  • This is needed to calculate the concentrate mix rate.

Restraints:

  • Do not mix spraying oils or wetting agents with Surefire Chlortan 720 Fungicide.

  • This product should not be mixed with spraying oils or sprayed onto crops that have been sprayed with oil for at least 10 days after the oil spray.
  • Oils should not be sprayed on crops treated with this product for at least 10 days after the last spray.
