Visible effects on annual weeds take 3-7 days, but perennial weeds may not be obvious for 2-3 weeks or longer in some cases. Superior to liquid product in every way. Safer road delivery and easier to mix, with no spillage. Mixes well with penetrant and fast knockdown on thistles, willows and blackberry. Combines well with Metsulfuron if necessary, and way less expensive than liquid Glyphosate.

Is Glyphosate 700 Granular Herbicide compatible with Grazon for woody perennial-lantana? If so, how much grazon would be added? If I made up the recommended ratio of glyphosate 700/water in a 100L spray tank how much Grazon or Woody would I add to increase effectiveness.

Grazon Extra Herbicide is compatible with various Glyphosate formulations, including Glyphosate 700 Granular Herbicide. The best practice when mixing the two products would be to adhere to the label rates to control Lantana for each product. Therefore, the Glyphosate would be mixed at 5gm/L (500gm per 100L) and the Grazon at 5mL/L (500mL per 100L). Including a suitable wetting agent (i.e. Consume or Eurochem Penetrant @ 100mL-200mL per 100L) is recommended to guarantee the best kill.

    The  Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide can be mixed directly into a backpack.  Please follow these instructions;

    1. Fill the backpack with one-half the required amount of clean water.
    2. Add the required amount of Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide slowly to ensure that it is well-dispersed throughout the backpack and none collects on the bottom.
    3. Continue water addition and thoroughly agitate until all the Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide is completely dissolved.

If you are concerned that the product has not fully dissolved, then premixing and agitating in a bucket can be done before transferring it into the backpack.

Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide does not list stem injection as a suitable unwanted tree control application method.  For trees up to a 10cm diameter, cut stump applications are registered on species such as Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata), Longleaf Box (E.goniocalyx), Marri (E.calophylla), Messmate Stringybark (E. obliqua) and Narrowleaf Peppermint (E. Radiata).  The mixing rate is 1kg per 30L Water (1:30).  You may choose to trial stem injection 'off-label', but the manufacturer does not recommend or guarantee results with this method.

We recommend dedicated stem injection herbicides such as Tordon RegrowthMaster Herbicide or products similar or comparable to the original Tordon DSH Tree Killer (Treeson Herbicide, Shredder Herbicide or Commander Dual Herbicide) to control unwanted trees.

Glyphosate 700 Soluble Granular Herbicide can be used in Banana plantations, but care needs to be taken not to spray or allow spray to drift onto the banana plants as severe death or damage is likely.

When mixed @ 5gm/L Water, each 10kg makes approximately 2000L of glyphosate spray, which should be more than enough to cover 4000m2, but the different application and mixing rates will alter the area covered.

Visible effects on annual weeds take 3-7 days, but on perennial weeds may not be evident for 2-3 weeks or longer in some cases. Visible effects of control may be delayed by cool or cloudy weather at and following treatment.

As with all Glyphosate formulations (liquid and granular), users should avoid skin contact as Glyhphosate will irritate the skin.  Full safety directions are available on the 'directions for use' label and in part direct "when opening the container and preparing the product for use, wear elbow-length PVC gloves and goggles" and "after use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water".

Tips For Use

The 10kg & 15kg packs can be stored safely once opened in a dry area.

General Instructions:

  • Glyphosate 700 Herbicide is translocated throughout the plant, where it kills both foliage and roots.
  • Ideally, the best time to use Glyphosate 700 Herbicide is when target species are in a state of active growth, moderate climatic conditions are present, and plants are free of disease and dirt cover.
  • While cool and cloudy conditions can sometimes delay the appearance of chemical activity, it can generally be expected that symptoms of chemical effect will appear 2-7 days after spraying of annual species and 2-3 weeks after spraying of perennial species. The symptoms are demonstrated by yellowing and accompanying wilting, progressing to a brownout.

Crop Safety:

Do not allow Glyphosate 700 Herbicide to come in contact with the foliage, fruit or green stems of desirable crops, plants or trees, as the nature of the chemical is non-selective. Some useful guidelines that can help in this regard are:

  1. Do not use it if the wind is blowing towards desirable plants in close proximity.
  2. Avoid fine droplet settings (150 microns or less) when calibrating.
  3. Avoid spraying in winds greater than 8km/hr, still air and on hot days.

While the product is rapidly inactivated on contact with the soil, it is important that certain factors are kept in mind:

  1. Where there is a light presence of unwanted vegetative matter, sowing can commence one day after spraying.
  2. Where the plant cover is heavy, it is better to allow the vegetative matter to decay before sowing to allow the formation of a satisfactory seed bed.

Spray Preparation:

  1. Make sure the tank is clean and residues from previous usage have been removed.
  2. Half fill the tank with clean water bearing in mind that less than perfect results may occur if water containing soil particles or hard water containing calcium salt is used. Glyphosate may be inactivated by water which is contaminated with clay particles or soil.
  3. Add the appropriate amount of product as per the Directions for Use Tables.
  4. Mix well, keeping the filling hose below the surface to avoid foaming.
  5. Add water to fill the vat.
  6. Remove the hose from the tank as soon as full to prevent back siphoning.

Do not use mechanical agitators, as these may cause excessive foaming.

Do not add non-approved herbicides and insecticides.

Use only plastic, plastic-lined, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, copper or fibreglass containers or spray tanks.

Galvanised steel or unlined steel containers or spray tanks can react with the product to produce hydrogen gas, which can form a combustible gas mixture that can be flashed by ignition sources.

Surfactant:

  • The addition of a surfactant may improve weed control where water rates are high or product rates are low.
  • Suggested surfactant rates are 200ml/100l of 1000g/l non-ionic surfactant or 250-500ml of 700g/l surfactant.
  • Do not add spraying oils, agricultural chemicals or any other material except as directed on the label.

Organosilicone Penetrant:

In certain situations (as indicated in the Directions for Use table), weed control may be enhanced by the addition of an organosilicone penetrant 200mL/100L spray solution.

Application Checklist:

  • Do not treat weeds under poor growing or dormant conditions (such as occur in drought, waterlogging, disease, insect damage or following frosts) as reduced weed control may result.  Reduced efficacy may also occur when treating weeds heavily covered with dust or silt.
  • Do not add additional surfactant or mix with any other agricultural chemicals, herbicide oils, or any other materials except as specifically directed on this label.
  • Rainfall occurring up to 6 hrs after application may reduce effectiveness. Heavy rainfall within 2hrs after application may wash the chemical off the foliage, and a repeat treatment may be required.
  • Delay treatment of plants wet with dew or rain if water droplets run off when plants are disturbed.
  • Do not disturb treated weeds by cultivation, sowing or grazing for one day after treatment of annual weeds and 7 days for perennial weeds to ensure herbicide absorption.
  • A Withholding Period for grazing stock is not required. However, it is recommended that grazing of treated plants be delayed (as recommended above) to ensure herbicide absorption. Certain plants such as Soursob, Wort & Bracken may be naturally toxic to stock. Where known toxic plants are present, grazing should be delayed until complete browning of treated plants has occurred.
  • Where required the addition of non-ionic surfactant is recommended at a rate of 100mL of a 600g/L product (or equivalent) per 100L spray solution.

Restraints:

  • Do not disturb treated weeds by cultivation, sowing or grazing for 1 day after treatment of annual weeds and 7 days for perennial weeds.
  • Do no treat weeds under poor growing or dormant conditions such as occur in drought, water logging, disease, insect damage or following frost. Reduced control may also occur when treating weeds heavily covered with dust or silt. Rainfall occurring up to 6 hours after application may reduce effectiveness.
  • Heavy rainfall within 2 hours of application may wash the chemical off the foliage, and a repeat treatment may be required.
  • Do not use prior to sowing tomatoes.

Conversion Rates (granules v Liquid)

  • Glyphosate 450 @ 1L/Ha = Glyphosate 700 @ 640g/Ha (1L Undiluted Concentrate Gly 450 = 640gm Undissolved Glyphosate 700 Granules)
  • Glyphosate 540 @ 1L/Ha = Glyphosate 700 @ 770g/Ha (1L Undiluted Concentrate Gly 540 = 770gm Undissolved Glyphosate 700 Granules)
