California Bander Castrator
The California Bander is a stainless steel tool which applies stretchy surgical tubing for fast and easy bloodless castrating and is suitable for all ages and breeds.
A foam coating on the handle helps hands stay comfortable and flexible.
With practice, castrating can be done in just a few seconds per animal.
Precut, 6″ natural latex bands have an aluminum T-clip attached which fits into a slot on the tool.
The band is stretched around the scrotal sac, locked back into the clip and the tool is removed.
The band stays on for approx. 20 to 30 days as tissues dry out and fall off.

With the California Bander you work above the testicles, holding the scrotum and looping the band around. Simple, quick, easy and less expensive than other methods.
Many farmers are delaying castration to take advantage of the higher growth rates of entire animals. According to the supplier, research shows that if you leave bull calves intact they will typically grow 15 % faster and will also convert feed 20 % more efficiently than steer calves. Banding is safer and less stressful than surgical castration especially when used on more mature animals.
