Garlon 600 Herbicide (Triclopyr)

Garlon 600 Herbicide does not have a best-before or expiry date. The best practice is to use the product within approximately Five (5) years from the date of manufacture.

Garlon 600 Herbicide is only registered to control English Ivy (Hedera helix). Unfortunately, we are unaware of any data indicating its efficacy on other ivy species. Further clarification may be obtained from the manufacturer (Corteva) at 1800 700 096 or [email protected].

Garlon 600 Herbicide is not registered or recommended to control Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale). Herbicides recommended to control Dandelion contain MCPA and should be applied to weeds at a young rosette stage, not when the plant has seeded.

Garlon 600 Herbicide (Triclopyr) does not claim nor has a current APVMA permit registered to control Blue Periwinkle (vinca major). There is a current APVMA permit 9907 held by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, which includes the registered use of several different herbicides to control Blue Periwinkle, i.e. Fluroxypyr, Glyphosate, or Metsulfuron-methyl. Please be aware that these herbicides can severely damage or kill surrounding plants/ trees if they come in contact. Always read the 'directions for use label' carefully to ensure suitability to your situation.

Garlon 600 Herbicide 'directions for use' can be found on the product page. Scroll down to the 'SDS & Technical' tab; a PDF file will be available for download or printing. Recommends for controlling Broom (Genista spp.) as a basal bark or cut stump application at a mixing rate of 1.25L to 60L diesel. Always read the 'directions for use' carefully before use.

Garlon 600 Herbicide 'directions for use' list the following critical comment, "Do not treat ivy growing up trees or on other plants as the host's death may result".  This refers to the risk of spraying onto the host tree or plant.  

Garlon 600 Herbicide is not registered or recommended to control Wandering Jew (Trad). Herbicides made from Fluroxypyr (i.e. Starane) effectively control Wandering Jew or Trad (Tradescantia albiflora) in agricultural non-crop areas, commercial and industrial areas, forests, pastures and rights-of-way. As there are different strengths of Fluroxypyr, the mixing rates vary. Fluroxypyr @ 200g/L - 150mL per 10L Water, Fluroxypyr @ 333g/L (Starane Advanced) - 90mL per 10L Water & Fluroxypyr @ 400g/L - 75mL per 10L Water. Note - Use as a foliar spray and apply to young plants up to and including flowering. Some regrowth will usually occur and will require retreatment. Another option is to use Vigilant II Gel as a leaf-wiping application. Vigilant II Gel must be applied to at least 50% of the leaves.

Garlon 600 Herbicide is not registered for or makes any claims of controlling Agapanthus. Garlon is registered to be applied as a basal bark/cut stump or foliar application in Agricultural Non-Crop Areas, Commercial and Industrial Areas, Forests, Pastures and Rights-Of-Way, not domestic. We would suggest Vigilant II Herbicide Gel be considered, which is registered to control Agapanthus.

Garlon 600 Herbicide (made from Triclopyr) is not registered to control Common Sensitive Plant (mimosa pudica). However, several different actives are registered to control Common Sensitive Plant depending on the situation, stage of growth, and application. i.e. Starane Advanced (Fluroxypyr, or Fireball 400 (Fluroxypyr), or Sabakem Fluroxypyr 400 Herbicide (Fluroxypyr), or Grazon Extra (Aminopyralid, Picloram & Triclopyr), or Scrubba (Picloram & Triclopyr), or Hatchet Herbicide (Picloram & Triclopyr).

Garlon 600 Herbicide is registered to be applied to many noxious plants in Agricultural Non-Crop Areas, Commercial and Industrial Areas, Forests, Pastures and Rights-Of-Way as a cut stump application. Although not explicitly registered to control Wisteria, Vigilant II Herbicide Gel may be a better option than Garlon 600 as it is ideally suited for use in environmentally sensitive and difficult-to-access areas. Vigilant II is applied directly to freshly cut/crushed stems or trunks of weed plants.

Garlon 600 Herbicide is not registered for or makes any claims of control over Wild Raddish.  We would suggest selective herbicides such as MCPA 750 or 24D Amine Herbicide.

Neither the Garlon 600 nor the Spray Seed label have either product listed as being compatible, so we would not recommend using them together in a tank mix.  If you decide to go 'off-label' and mix both products, a jar test would be advised before application.
