Victorian Producer Recognised at Beef Australia Awards
Gippsland beef producer and customer of Specialist Sales, Barry Holland believes genetic improvements to Australia’s Angus breed helped him claim the prestigious carcass competition at Beef Australia, held in Rockhampton Queensland from May 2-8 2021.
Barry won three carcass competitions at Beef Australia including the Meat Standards Australia award for the highest indexing carcass. That category alone had more than 3.5 million carcasses graded with Mr Holland winning the competition with a 340 kg Angus steer which he purchased at a Gippsland store sale.
Barry buys cattle from Heyfields, Sale, and Bairnsdale and attributes his wins to a shift in farm focus and grazing principles.
Barry farms about 100 hectares and turns off 200 steers annually and believes his success is all about the meat quality which he has worked hard to maintain through good pastures and animal management.
Barry maintains that part of his success can be attributed to his use of CattlePro Pour-On for Beef Cattle which he has been using for a number of years now as a way to treat his cattle for internal and external parasites and to maintain their excellent condition.
Barry popped in to see us while we were attending Beef Australia 2021 and proudly showed us his trophies from the three carcase competition wins.
Congratulations Barry on your outstanding competition wins, it certainly made the trip to Rockhampton worthwhile.
