Description
Surefire Couma Blocks Rodenticide
Active Ingredient: Coumatetralyl @ 0.37g/kg
Similar or Comparable to Racumin Rat & Mouse Blocks (Bayer Cropscience Pty Ltd)
Surefire Couma Blocks Rodenticide is a ready-to-use bait block for the control of rats and mice with a decreased risk of secondary poisoning to pets & wildlife. Couma Blocks contain Coumatetralyl, a first-generation anticoagulant that works through a multi-feed system. Unlike second and third-generation baits, coumatetralyl is metabolised quickly so dead rodents carry very low residues; this decreases the risk of secondary poisoning to pets or wildlife who may scavenge on the dead rodents.
Using the multi-feed approach, Surefire Couma Blocks will kill in a similar timeframe as a single feed bait (3-8 days) without the risk of bait shyness. Couma Blocks are formulated as wax blocks for better weather resistance. Couma blocks are useful in damp locations such as sewers or gutters, or outdoor locations where loose grain baits spoil quickly.
Rats and mice like to gnaw their teeth on hard surfaces so the wax blocks are ideal.

We were starting to get rats in the house roof as well as the stables. After 6 months of trying to control them with every raticide I could find, it became apparent that they had become resistant to everything! However, just before I called in the professionals, I checked to see what Specialist Sales had to offer. I’ve been purchasing products from them for 3 and a half years and have always been happy with their products, service and cost.
Once again, I wasn’t disappointed. The Couma blocks were effective within a few days and by the end of the week there were no rats (or poo) to be seen. Yee Ha!! Occasionally there has been evidence of a return visit, but after a couple of days it’s once again all clear. Phew!
Thanks again Specialist Sales. Sally

Rats in ceiling space couldn’t get enough of the bait in first week, consumption has dropped off considerably now so will be assessing kill rate over next few weeks. Quick delivery from Specialist Sales to NSW Far Coast, so will look to their site for associated products.

Works well. Placed in rubbish bin, against brick wall. Each morning up to 3 mice in bin until no more. Just have to kill them.

I rely on this product to kill rats and mice, but not the local owl population: it is so important to consider what may be affected by eating a poisoned rodent. I don’t have to worry about the chooks finding a dead mouse, which has happened many times: it is an effective rodenticide, and, not killing anything else!

The bait design worked very well with my bait stations. Rodents were very attracted to the baits with good results.

If these blocks aren’t working for you it’s not the blocks, it’s you! After following the directions it was just a matter of waiting. I admit I was skeptical after having the baits out for a week and still noticing rats but by day 8 there was a significant drop in activity. By the end of the second week, none at all. To top it off, although we kept our outdoor cat indoors for the first couple of weeks of treatment, the sneaky fat bastard did get himself a rat in week two, and guess what? Mr Garrison lives. So if I could give more than 5 stars I would.

It was easy to order, arrived quickly, and it works. I wore latex gloves to handle the baits and bait stations, and smeared a little bit of peanut butter on each block, using a plastic knife, before placing the blocks in the empty bait stations. A few weeks later, people in our building saw a poor giant dying rat on the footpath. It is good to know it works and that other animals won’t be killed through secondary poisoning.

Rats and mice do not eat this product. I have secured it in tubes with an alternative bait in the centre. These baits are untouched and the alternative is eaten fully. Rat and mice will go past this bait to eat a different one.

We spread 10-15 pellets of Couma up in our ceiling cavity (where we could hear extensive mouse activity) and we could hear them being rolled around. Day 2 and one dead mouse outdoors on the lawn. We didn’t see another dead rodent, and there was nothing but silence in the ceiling. Waited for the bad smell of decaying mice to waft through the house… but none came. Bottom line, we don’t know if Couma did the trick, or if a spaceship came down from Mars and took all our vermin back with them, but we haven’t see or heard a mouse since. It’s quieter than a mouse, you could say.

excellent product, the rats/mice love it. I put some nails in a piece of wood and mounted some of the blocks to know it was being eaten, as the rodents want to take it with them.

I researched to find a rodenticide that would be effective, but not harm the local wildlife – lizards and owls in particular.
This bait does the trick. The rats and mice feed on it for a few days, then game over.
I’m a repeat purchaser because they just work, plus no secondary poisoning.

Safe for pets it may be but as the rats don’t eat it, its safe for them too. Have waited two weeks and nary a nibble.

Hi Ann and thanks for your review. The Couma All-Weather Blocks have been very popular and many of our sales are to repeat buyers who are very happy with the results. Not sure why the rats would be avoiding your blocks but please ensure that you have eliminated, as far as practicable all alternative food sources and that when handling the blocks you do not contaminate the blocks (or the immediate area) with human smells as this can deter the rodents. Studies have shown rodents will monitor new baits until they are convinced they are safe without threats. Providing the rodents with some free food close to your blocks is a good way to check if they are still active in the area and also gets them used to the new blocks.
