Surefire Termiticide and Insecticide (Fipronil) SUREFIRE-TERMITICIDE PCT

Description

Surefire Termiticide and Insecticide

Active Ingredient: Fipronil @ 100g/L

Similar or comparable to Termidor Residual Termiticide And Insecticide (BASF), Warden 100SC Insecticide (ADAMA) & TermiForce 100SC Termiticide and Insecticide (Indigo)

Surefire Termiticide & Insecticide is for the protection of structures from subterranean termite damage and for the control of subterranean termites around domestic and commercial structures.

Surefire Termiticide & Insecticide is also used for the control of many ant species in domestic situations and around buildings.  Surefire Termiticide is a 100g/L Fipronil termite control product.

Surefire Termiticide Label application rates can be used for:

  • Pre/ Post Construction barriers (Chemical soil treated zones around existing buildings and structures)
  • Wall Cavity treatments.
  • Protection of poles & fence  posts.
  • Nests in poles & trees.

Period of Protection:

Data currently available indicates that this product, when applied as a soil treatment in accordance with this label, will be effective at deterring concealed entry into a building or structure by subterranean termites for a minimum period of 8 years.  Delayed mortality effects may be observed meaning termites may live and continue to be active several weeks after penetrating the treated zone. To re-establish the treated zone after the 8 year period of protection, re-application at full rates is required.  The actual protection period will also be affected by factors such as termite pressure, climatic and soil conditions and subsequent soil disturbance.

Termite Control:

Chemical treatment for termite control around existing buildings should be considered to be part of an integrated approach to reduce the risk of termite attack and should be conducted by Licensed Pest Control Operators.

The steps below best describe the procedure for optimum termite management:

  • The building owner should try to minimise water entering under and around the building and improve drainage to reduce moisture accumulating in these areas.
  • Ventilation of sub-floor areas should also be optimised to reduce moisture accumulation.
  • The area under the floor should be kept free from debris-timber such as off-cuts of wood or firewood.
  • Treat with a residual chemical zone treatment such as Surefire Termiticide & Insecticide in compliance with AS3660.2.
  • Regular inspections should be carried out (at least annually as recommended by AS3660 Series).
  • If any additional subsequent building or landscaping work causes disruption to the chemical soil treated zone it must be restored to maintain protection.

Ant Control:

Surefire Termiticide & Insecticide will control ants by direct contact and residual activity on treated surfaces.  When applied as a surface spray as directed, Surefire Termiticide & Insecticide will provide up to 3 months of control of ants and is best applied as ant activity increases in early spring.  A follow-up application during summer may be required

Throughout the manufacturing process, Surefire Termiticide and Insecticide is tested for particle size & consistency, in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements.

  • Surefire Termiticides active ingredient, Fipronil, demonstrates superior efficiency in controlling termites.
  • Surefire Termiticide is a premium, quality product intended strictly for professional use.
  • Surefire Termiticide is Manufactured in Australia, with each bottle having a tamper-evident cap.

Have tried various Ant killer products and methods with mixed results over the years, this one has so far given the best results, sprayed around the perimeter of house, garage and sheds just before all the rain which usually resulted in an invasion of hordes of Ants and assorted vermin, so far so good no critters have been observed.

Good stuff, it is what the professionals use

    Anthea (verified owner)

It works. Do it every 6 months but must have no rain for about 3 days. Safe for trees. birds, dogs.
Keeping moisture away from stuff is a bit impossible in some circumstances so maybe use every 3 months if that is the case eg trees in garden.

Is it best to drill pavers and inject or lift pavers and soak the soil when using Surefire Termiticide and Insecticide?

When creating a soil barrier, the goal is to soak the soil thoroughly with the termiticide. Hence, drilling through the pavers to inject the termiticide has the same effect as lifting the pavers. The visual and structural damage to the pavers will be less if you do not have to drill, plus you can guarantee that the whole area has been covered if you can lift and remove them.

Surefire Termiticide and Insecticide will have had time to dry within the six-hour period after application. The active ingredient, Fipronil, exhibits moderate soil absorption, meaning it has a moderate capacity to attach to soil particles, particularly those with high organic matter content. Fipronil stays concentrated in the upper soil layers where many turf pests reside, enhancing its effectiveness for target insects.

Surefire Termiticide and Insecticide does not have a best-before or expiry date. The best practice for these types of insecticide formulations is to use them within approximately 3-5 years from the date of manufacture, as some components may start to break down and become ineffective after this time.

  6. I wish to use Surefire Termiticide and Insecticide for funnel ants in the lawn and garden, but the directions for use don’t explain the specific application procedure? I understand it is a spray on application however is it just simply sprayed on top of the grass and left? Or Should it be watered into the soil? Is it better than using granules? I can’t see how effective it could be if it was simply sprayed onto the grass surface? Perhaps you would recommend an alternative treatment for the pesky funnel ants? Would appreciate your advice. The principle behind the fipronil insecticides is that to be effective; the ant must come in contact with the insecticide. Applying the liquid fipronil insecticides (i.e. Surefire Termiticide and Insecticide & Termidor Residual) for funnel ant control recommends a mixture of 6ml per 1 Litre of water, which is applied over a 16m2 area. The spray is usually applied to the areas where the funnel ants are active, usually around their nests or high-traffic trails. Applying it to large grass areas is hit-and-miss, as the ants may not come in contact with the spray if it is held above the ground. The liquid spray does not need to be irrigated after application. The granular applications (i.e. SAS PRO Professional Granule Ant Killer & Surefire Fipronil Granular Ant Killer) are very popular for funnel ant control, as they can be broadcast over an area where the ants are active. The rate is 750gm - 1.5kg per 100m2. The granules require approximately 4mm of irrigation immediately after application to be effective. Again, the ant must come in contact with the granule to be effective, so application to high-traffic & nest areas is recommended.

  10. Hi there .. just want to check the application rate for a bowling green of approx 1400m2. We have a boom sprayer with a 75-litre tank that can automatically control application rates so that one tank can cover the whole bowling green. Your general rate of the application suggests 6ml per 1 litre of water or 450ml for our 75-litre tank. Would 450ml be enough to control funnel ants for the entire 1400m2 .. or would there need to be a second application? Kind Regards Craig Riddell Greenkeeper Malanda Bowls Club 0458 965 784

The mixing rate of 6mL per 1L (450mL per 75L) is correct.  The label advises applying this mixture of spay at 1L per 16m2, which equates to 75L being spread over 1200m2.  This is the recommended rate of chemical and water rate for the area.  If you were still planning on only applying 75L over 1400m2, then the mixing rate would need to be increased by 15%, i.e. 7mL per 1L (530mL per 75L) but bear in mind that the water rate being applied over the area is lower than recommended.

The Surefire Termiticide and Insecticide is a concentrate product that is diluted with water before application.  The application can be made by various methods, including conventional spraying, surface spraying, soil injection (rodding), drilling & flooding, foaming and under slab reticulation.  The mixing rate and application method depend on the pest being targeted and the application situation.  The general mixing rate for spraying is 6mL per 1Litre water but may differ in other conditions.  The complete instructions & information is available in the Directions For Use on the Specialist Sales website in the 'SDS & Technical' Tab and should be read in full prior to use.
