KnockOut Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide

KnockOut Pro 540 Herbicide is a highly concentrated, non-selective liquid weedkiller designed to offer fast, effective control against annual grasses, perennial grasses, and broadleaf weeds. In particular, it delivers robust performance against tough weeds, and fantastic convenience in a one-drum package.

It’s suitable for use in a wide variety of settings, including agricultural land, farming buildings, commercial areas, industrial sites, and home gardens.

While KnockOut Pro is non-selective, it’s also a non-volatile herbicide, which makes it an excellent choice for use in areas where drift is a concern. Another key benefit of KnockOut Pro is its superior compatibility with other tank-mix herbicides – in fact, KnockOut Pro is widely known to be the most compatible knockdown herbicide on the market.

KnockOut Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide KNOCKOUT-PRO Conquest Crop Protection

Description

How does KnockOut Pro Herbicide work?

KnockOut Pro is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems, where it then moves through the plant and into its root system. Here, it blocks an enzyme that is a critical component of amino acid production – without it, the plant is unable to grow or synthesise proteins, which then causes its death.

Depending on environmental conditions and the type of weed you’re trying to eliminate, KnockOut Pro can take anywhere between 3-7 days (annual weeds in warm, sunny conditions) to 2-3 weeks (perennial weeds in cool, cloudy conditions) to show initial signs of plant death.

Which weeds does KnockOut Pro control?

KnockOut Pro can be used to eradicate a broad range of weeds, including quick-growing annual weeds like chickweed and sow thistles, as well as tough-to-kill weeds like blackberry and bamboo. For a full list of weeds controlled by KnockOut Pro, refer to the Host & Pest tab.

Does KnockOut Pro offer residual weed control?

No, KnockOut Pro does not offer residual weed control. It is inactivated on the clay and organic matter found in soil, which means that it’s safe for use in areas where you plan on sowing crops.

What is the active ingredient in KnockOut Pro?

The active ingredient in KnockOut Pro herbicide is glyphosate, a non-selective foliar herbicide used to control weeds in many different contexts. Glyphosate is well-regarded globally for its potency, affordability, and fast mode of action.

What is the difference between glyphosate 360 and 540?

The difference between glyphosate at 360g/L or 450g/L versus 540g/L is the strength of the product. KnockOut Pro 540 Herbicide is 50% more concentrated than products like RoundUp Biactive, which contain glyphosate at 360g/L. This makes it ideal for use in large areas or when treating heavy or tough-to-kill weed infestations.

Can KnockOut Pro be used before sowing crops?

Knockout Pro herbicide can be used for weed control on agricultural land before sowing any edible or non-edible crop, but importantly, not prior to transplanting tomato seedlings. It is registered for pre-harvest use in wheat, sorghum, and cotton production as well as some winter pulse crops and some summer legumes.

When applying KnockOut Pro prior to transplanting crops into plastic mulch, care must be taken to remove any product residue from the plastic. This can be done by 2cm of natural rainfall or by administering water via a sprinkler irrigation system.

Do I need to mix KnockOut Pro with any other products for best results?

KnockOut Pro is fully loaded with unique surfactants, which means there’s no need to purchase or mix wetting agents, oils, or acidifiers for best results. However, KnockOut Pro is also the most compatible knockdown herbicide on the market, so it can be effectively mixed with other products, e.g. pre-emergent herbicides, should you choose to do so.

Features & Benefits

Versatile, convenient, and extremely powerful, KnockOut Pro is the herbicide of choice for users all around the world for a number of reasons, including:

  • Formulated with glyphosate: The most widely used herbicide worldwide, glyphosate is extremely effective at controlling annual grasses, perennial grasses, and broadleaf weeds.
  • Maximum potency: This high-load, systemic weedkiller contains glyphosate at 540g/L. It is 50% stronger than glyphosate 360 and 20% stronger than glyphosate 450, meaning you’ll be able to spray more area with just the one drum.
  • Good rainfastness: KnockOut Pro is rainfast just one hour after application.
  • No residual activity: Perfect for those looking to sow crops quickly, KnockOut Pro does not have any residual activity in the soil.
  • Loaded with surfactants: KnockOut Pro contains its own unique surfactants and thus does not need to be mixed with any other products to deliver ideal results.
  • Ideal for challenging conditions: This herbicide is extremely reliable, even in hot and dry or cool and dry weather conditions. It provides superior performance across an array of contexts, making it a great choice regardless of climate and environment.
  • Minimal environmental damage: As KnockOut Pro is non-volatile, choosing this herbicide reduces the risk of drift, damage to neighbouring crops and hedges, bystander exposure, and direct contamination of surface water.
  • Registered across different settings: KnockOut Pro is registered for weed control not just in agricultural settings (including pre-harvest use for a variety of crops), but also in non-agricultural, forestry, channel, and dry drain contexts.
  • Easy to use: This glyphosate-based product is low foaming and easy to pump, ensuring convenient application when used as directed.
  • Flexible application timing: KnockOut Pro’s reliable performance lets users make the most of weather windows, with consistent efficacy to ensure you remain on schedule in unpredictable conditions.
  • Versatile across cropping systems: Designed to be used with convenient, minimum, or zero tillage cropping systems, KnockOut Pro fits seamlessly into a range of systems and farming practices.

Questions and answers from customers

While Knockout Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide is effective against bindii and clover, its non-selective nature means it will also kill surrounding grass when spot spraying. For a selective herbicide that is safe for turf and registered to control broadleaf weeds like bindii and clover, we can suggest Surefire Multi Turf Herbicide, Bow & Arrow Herbicide, Ozcrop Dicamba M Herbicide, or Surefire Dicamba M Herbicide. You can find these products on the Specialist Sales website by using the search bar. We recommend you consult with the school as to any specific regulations on chemical use within the school premises, and always consult the 'directions for use' to confirm product suitability.

Like most herbicides, Knockout Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide does not have a specific expiration date. Manufacturers generally recommend using the product within 3-5 years if stored under optimal conditions (in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and tightly sealed in the original packaging), and checking for any changes in appearance, such as a change in colour, crystallisation, or separation, before use.

Knockout Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide is inactivated in soil and does not provide residual weed control. When used in cropping, the label specifies that it does not require a plant-back interval. However, you should wait until the weeds are completely dead before replanting.

  7. Q Will KnockOut Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide kill Lantana?
Asked by Dylan on April 1, 2025 7:11 am
    A

The registered directions of use for KnockOut Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide list Lantana as a controlled species. The recommended foliar application rate is 660mL per 100L of water plus a penetrant to maximise uptake by the plant. Glyphosate, however, is a non-selective herbicide that will also impact any favourable plant species it comes into contact with. There are other selective herbicides you may want to consider, which are registered for the control of lantana but won't target your grasses when used as directed, including Grazon Extra, Hatchet Extra, Hatchet Herbicide, Raizon Herbicide, or Woody Herbicide. See the link below for further information on Lantana control.

Knockout Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide is inactivated in soil and does not provide residual weed control. When used in cropping, the label specifies that it does not require a plant-back interval. There is no data specifically regarding the planting of Australian native plants after applying KnockOut Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide. Yes, KnockOut Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide is on-label to control Bamboo. To apply, mix the higher of the recommended rate (330 - 600ML per 100LTR of water for handgun application, or 50 - 100ML per 15LTR of water for knapsack application) and apply to actively growing plants when the Bamboo is 1 - 2M tall. Bamboo is a particularly hardy plant, and multiple applications may be required. Please ensure you read the SDS and Label before purchase and use to confirm suitability for your situation & follow all manufacturer's guidelines. These are available under 'SDS and Technical' on the product page on our website.

  13. Q How effective is KnockOut Pro 540 Glyphosate Herbicide on Blackberry?
Asked by Andrew on February 2, 2025 12:16 pm

KnockOut Pro 540 Glyphosate does include Blackberry on the label as a weed-controlled. Glyphosate-based herbicides are knockdown herbicides that do not offer residual control, so further applications will be required assuming the Blackberry has set seed. Blackberry is also a hardy weed, so you may not see your desired results immediately, and subsequent applications may be necessary. As such, you may wish to consider an herbicide designed to control woody weeds. Treat in winter or early spring. For best results, add a surfactant. Apply two sprays, 6–8 weeks apart. Repeat treatments are essential.

Although Knockout Pro 540 registered 'directions for use' does not indicate privet as a controlled weed, both the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (https://weeds.dpi.nsw.gov.au/Weeds/Privetbroadleaf) and the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (https://www.daf.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/77420/small-leaf-privet.pdf) recommend glyphosate 360g/L as either a cut stump application to plants 0-30cm in diameter, mixing rate 1L:1L water; or as a stem injection undiluted, 0-25cm basal diameter 1mL per 2cm cut, 25-60cm basal diameter 2mL per 2cm cut.

Tips For Use

General Instructions:

Knockout Pro 540 Herbicide may be used for weed control on agricultural land prior to sowing any edible or non-edible crop but not prior to transplanting tomato seedlings.  When applying this product prior to transplanting crops into plastic mulch, care must be taken to remove residues of this product from the plastic prior to transplanting. Residues can be removed by 2 cm of natural rainfall or by applying water via a sprinkler irrigation system.

Knockout Pro 540 Herbicide is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems. It is inactivated in the soil and does not provide residual weed control. The herbicide moves through the plant from the point of contact to and into the root system.  Initial visible effects on annual weeds take 3 – 7 days but may not be noticeable for 2 to 3 weeks under cool cloudy conditions or on some perennial weeds

Mixing Instructions:

  1. Fill the spray tank 1/3 to ½ full with clean water and start agitation.
  2. Where ammonium sulphate is recommended, add Apparent Ammonium Sulphate at 800 g/100 L spray solution and mix thoroughly.
  3. Add recommended herbicide/insecticide/additive to the spray tank and mix thoroughly.
  4. Add Knockout Pro 540 Herbicide and the remaining water. Mix thoroughly.
  5. Add surfactant, if required, near the end of the filling process to minimise foaming.
  6. Always maintain adequate agitation during application and use the tank mix promptly.

Clean all equipment after use by washing thoroughly with clean water

Restraints:

  • Do not disturb weeds by cultivation, sowing or grazing for six hours of daylight following treatment of annual weeds and seven days for perennial weeds to ensure herbicide absorption,  unless specified otherwise in critical conditions.

Application Checklist:

  • Do not treat weeds under poor growing conditions due to moisture stress, waterlogging, severe frosting, insect damage etc. Reduced performance may also occur where weeds are covered with dust or silt.
  • Do not add surfactants, adjuvants or other pesticides except as specifically directed on this label.
  • Rain within 1 hour of application which causes run-off may require re-treatment. Rainfastness is reduced if weeds are not actively growing, under stress or conditions of low light intensity/darkness. The addition of Wetter TX may improve rainfastness on Winter annual weeds.
  • A withholding period for grazing is not required. However, it is recommended that grazing of treated plants be delayed to ensure herbicide uptake. Certain plants such as Soursob, Variegated thistle, Sorghum and Johnson grass may be naturally toxic to stock when eaten in large quantities under certain conditions. Where plants are known to be toxic, grazing should be delayed until complete browning of treated plants has occurred.
  • Apply treatments to weeds which have at least one true leaf (broadleaf weeds) or two leaves (grasses) to provide an adequate surface area for herbicide uptake.
  • If heavy grazing has occurred, allow regrowth to 6-8cm before spraying and use the higher rates recommended.

Protection of Crop, Native and Other Non-Target Plants:

  • Avoid contact with foliage, green bark or stems, canes, laterals, suckers, fresh wounds, exposed non-woody roots, flowers or fruit of crops, desirable plants and trees, since severe  injury or destruction may result.
  • Do not apply under weather conditions, or from spraying equipment, that may cause spray to drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands or pastures.

Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustacean and The Environment

  • Do not contaminate dams, rivers or streams with the product or the used container.
  • Do not apply to weeds growing in or over water. Do not spray across open bodies of water.
