The Solar Trough System TPS50 improves water quality through circulating, softening and agitating the water, providing a complete trough system. Cleaner water means healthier stock.

The Croc Trough Solar Trough System TPS50 is recommended for larger troughs, including round and oval troughs over 1.5m in diameter, and rectangular troughs over 2.5m in length. It is recommended to implement additional pumps in rectangular troughs larger than 5 metres long. The TPS50 is recommended for high use operations including feedlots and larger herds.

The Croc Trough Pumping System TPS50 has been designed to improve the quality of animals drinking water through filtering, softening and aeration. After 5 years of research and with data from over 25 private trials, we’ve seen the benefits of the product and want to ensure all producers have the opportunity to share in the innovation, continuing to improve our animals’ health.

Trials have shown a considerable reduction in algae due to the aeration process. Blue-Green algae remain toxic to livestock. In nearly all private trials, trough cleaning time has halved. Depending on the size of your enterprise, this might amount to a substantial saving in costs. Magnets have been shown to break down compounds and allow nutrients to be more available to animals, resulting in better growth patterns.

The Solar Croc Trough System improves the quality of animals drinking water through filtering, softening and aeration. If the water being pumped into troughs is clean, fresh river water and consumed quickly, then the system may not be required. The longer the water stagnates in the trough, the chance of it settling with algae and other contaminants growing increases. The constant aeration and use of magnets have been shown to break down compounds and make nutrients more available to the animals using the trough. If your troughs stay crystal clear and never require cleaning, the Solar Croc Trough System may not be necessary.

If these are the round 5000L troughs then yes, the pump will help keep the water much cleaner along with a Chlorine tablet.

How do I decide what pump I need to purchase?

The CROC TPS50 is recommended for large round troughs and rectangular troughs over 2.5m long.
The CROC TPS20 is ideal for those smaller volumed troughs, or to use as an additional pump in larger troughs.

Can I use my existing trough?

Yes you can use your existing trough, just put in a post to stick the solar panel on, and drop the pump in the water.
Remember to use some protection for the pump, the cattle will love playing with it.

Is there assembly required?

There is no assembly of the pump system required other than plugging it into the solar panel, but you will need to put a post in the ground to ensure the panel is kept out of harms way, and if you need to protect the pump from the livestock you may need to fashion a mesh cover.

What is the standard warranty with a CROC trough pumping system?

The Croc TPS pump range carries a 12 month warranty against defects and motor failure. For full warranty details, please refer to the Product Manual on this website.

Placement of TPS50 in Round Troughs:

Place the pump in the centre of the round trough, making sure that it cannot be reached by livestock.
It is recommended that the pump is covered by mesh, or a mesh cage, for protection from the animals being watered.
For best results, the outlet tube should be submerged below the water level between 50mm to 100mm.
This should result in a short fountain and wave type motion throughout the round trough.
For the larger round troughs, the Y piece can be fitted to the outlet tube between approx. 25mm to 75mm above water level.

Placement of TPS50 in short, rectangular troughs up to 2.5 Metres Long

Place the pump at the float cover end of the trough, ensuring it does not interfere with the float valve operation.
The outlet tube and Y or T piece outlet should be approx. 25mm to 75mm above water level.
Screw the threaded cap on the threaded outlet of the Y piece to ensure only one outlet of the Y piece is open.
Direct the open outlet of the Y piece towards the centre of the trough, so the outlet sprays the water to the end of trough, forming a wave like motion.
