Tips For Use

When to Use Selpor:

Strategically prior to critical events – Selpor is best used strategically prior to critical events to top up selenium levels when trace element demands may be increased.

• Cows: 1 month prior to calving/joining/AI
• Bulls: 100 – 120 days prior to joining/semen collection
• Calves: at marking and weaning

Long term supplementation – Where selenium deficiency has been diagnosed, Selpor can be used to treat the deficiency with applications every 4 months. Repeat doses should be made on the basis of diagnosed need only.

Where beef or dairy cattle are deficient in and/or responsive to selenium, copper, zinc and/or manganese supplementation, strategic supplementation with Multimin Injection for cattle could be appropriate.

Contraindications: 

• This product is contraindicated for use when selenium intake from pasture is high or selenium is provided by other means (such as top dressing, vaccine, pellets or selenium drenches) or if blood selenium levels at treatment are high.
• Users can determine selenium status by consulting their veterinarian.

Precautions: 

• Do not use if rain is imminent.
• Do not use in cattle with light coats intended for showing, as a brown discoloration may occur.
• The treatment of wet animals may reduce efficacy.
• When handling animals in the days immediately after treatment, wear PVC gloves.

Safety Directions: 

• Poisonous if absorbed by skin contact or swallowed. 
• Will irritate the eyes and skin. 
• Avoid contact with eyes and skin. 
• When using the product wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist and a washable hat and elbow-length PVC gloves. 
• If product in eyes, wash it out immediately with water. 
• After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water.
• After each day’s use, wash gloves and contaminated clothing.

First Aid Instructions: 

• If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131126. 
• If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly. 
• If in eyes, hold eyes open, flood with water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor.

Storage: 

• Store below 30°C (room temperature).
