Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR Herbicide TEBUTHIURON-SABAKEM Sabakem

Description

Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200 GR Herbicide (Active Ingredient: Tebuthiuron @ 200g/kg)

Similar Or Comparable To:  Graslan (FMC), Outlaw (Axichem), ScrubOut (Specialist Sales), Scrubmaster (Cheminova), Tebulex (Ronic) & Regain Herbicide (Granular Products)

Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR  is a high-quality herbicide granule for the control of Brigalow and Teatree regrowth, Mimosa Pigra and certain problem woody weeds, based on the proven active tebuthiuron. Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR is an economical choice for use in the control of woody weeds on grazing lands. It is suitable for Aerial, ground, and hand application. It is available in 20kg and 500kg packs.

Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR can be applied at any time of the year, and treatments become effective after sufficient rainfall mobilizes the active into the root zone, where it is absorbed by the woody plants. Herbicidal activity will continue for several seasons after application. During this time, the woody weeds may undergo repeated defoliations and regrowth until death occurs. The time required for complete plant death depends on soil type, amount of rainfall, root depth, plant species, plant density and rate of Tebuthiuron 200GR used.

What is the application rate of Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200 GR Herbicide;

The rate used for aerial and ground applications will be between 7.5kg to 15kg per hectare. A single application is normally effective for several years. Forage grass production usually increases as woody weed competition is reduced. Increased grass production is also dependent on adequate rainfall and an acceptable grazing management program. Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR may cause temporary herbicidal symptoms to appear on perennial grasses. Higher rates used to control woody weeds may kill grasses. This effect can be minimized by application when grasses are dormant.

Pack Sizes:  15kg & 500kg.

Registrant:  Sabakem Pty Ltd . (APVMA #: 88030)

  • Application Rate (Aerial & Ground Application): 5 – 15 kg’s Per Hectare

Application of Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR 200 by Hand Application, Dispenser or Hand Spreader:

Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR Hand Application.

  •  It is recommended that gloves be used during hand application.
  • Apply Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR by uniformly distributing by hand over the desired area after weighing out the recommended quantity of pellets.
  • The best way to calibrate yourself is to weigh a normal handful of pellets. If, for example, a handful weighs 20 grams, then this will treat 20 m2 at 1 g/m2 and 10 m2 at 2 g/m2.

Dispenser / Hand Spreader.

  •  Apply Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR 200 by uniformly distributing by hand after dispensing a single dose (7 g) from the dispenser unit. Apply the pellets at 1 to 2 g/m2. One dose (7 g) will treat 7 to 3.5 m2 at these rates.
  • When applying pellets to small regrowth up to 1 m high, distribute them under the regrowth canopy from the root crown or stems to 30 cm beyond the drip zone of the plants you want to control.
  • The first significant rain dissolves the pellets moving Tebuthiuron into the soil.
  • Additional rainfall takes Tebuthiuron into the root zone where it is absorbed by the roots of woody plants.
  • The time required for complete plant death depends on soil type, amount of rainfall, root depth, plant species, plant density and rate of Tebuthiuron used. Some species may go through several defoliations from 6 months to 2 years before dying.
  • Timber and regrowth control with Tebuthiuron pellets may be variable when used on soils with high clay content, high organic matter or when treating deep rooted or more tolerant species.

Treating Regrowth along Fencelines.

  • To obtain reliable control of regrowth, so it does not interfere with the wires in the fence line, ensure pellets are evenly distributed 2 m either side of the fenceline, i.e. a 4 m swath.
  • Please note that large trees outside the treated area may have their roots extending into where the pellets are placed. These trees will be affected and may result in being controlled.

Treating Individual Woody Weed Regrowth.

  • Estimate the area to where the roots may extend from the plant; this may be up to 1.5 times the height of the plant from the trunk and well beyond the plant canopy.
  • It is essential that this area is treated as evenly as possible, with pellets being spread from the trunk to beyond the foliage drip line formed by the branches to where the roots may extend.
  • Do not throw all the pellets at the base of the trunk. This will waste material and could result in poor control.

The Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR Herbicide is a clay pellet that requires enough rain to break down the clay and allow the active ingredient (Tebuthiuron) to be leached into the soil under the drip line of the tree.  The amount of rain required for full absorption depends on the soil type, but ideally, it would be approximately 25 mL of gentle rain. Tebuthiuron is a slow-acting herbicide. The time it takes to be taken up by the trees root system and translocated through the sap flow depends on the tree species and the time of year. Results may not be seen for many weeks or possibly months after application. It is not uncommon for certain tree species to produce new growth after treatment, but this is usually short-lived until the residual treatment affects the tree.

Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR Herbicide is not registered for or recommended to control Prickly Tea Tree (Leptospermum continentale). It is recommended to control many woody weeds, including various tree species, including large gum tree species. Unfortunately, we do not have data available if this product has been used to control Prickly Tea Tree. An 'off-label' trial would need to be conducted at your risk-taking consideration of non-target species nearby (i.e. trees) that may also be affected.

Asked by Scott on December 29, 2023 5:00 am
    Answered by the admin

Many factors can affect when tebuthiuron can be applied after a fire, including the fire severity, soil type and rainfall. As a general recommendation, waiting at least 3-6 months after a fire before applying Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR Herbicide is advisable. This allows the soil to recover, reduces the risk of ash interference, and ensures sufficient rainfall penetration for the herbicide to reach its target. Ash can potentially absorb or bind tebuthiuron, making it less available for plant uptake and reducing its effectiveness as a herbicide. This effect may vary depending on the type of ash, soil conditions, and herbicide application rate.

Sabakem Tebuthiuron 200GR is not registered to control wattle due to this species' deep tap root nature and the herbicide potentially not penetrating deep enough to be effectively taken up by the plant.
