Directions Of Use

Adjusting the Solo Granular Spreader:

  • The spreader is adjustable for both volume and direction. Four factors determine the volume and direction. They are:
    • Flow Limiter Stop – This brass stop nut allows you to limit the hopper opening for consistent delivery of material to the impeller.
    • Flow Rate Lever – Look down into the hopper to observe how the drop chute opening varies as you adjust the flow rate lever.
    • Directional Lever – This control adjusts the point where the material is to be deposited on the impeller and consequently, the width of spread. The lever can be set for the centre, left or right spreading.
    • Deflector Shield (adjustable side wing) – Increase or decreases the width of spread.
    • Cranking Speed – Cranking faster or slower affects volume and coverage.
Cranking RPM Pelletized Fertiliser Flow rate adjuster Flow Rate adjuster
Settiing #3 (middle) Setting #6 (full open)
Kg’s delivered per minute Kg’s delivered per minute
55-60 5mm 2 3.37
55-60 2-5mm 1.7 4.54
55-60 Grass Seed 4.54 0.91
  • Pelletized fertilizer is usually thrown about 3-4m in front of the operator and about 1.5-2.1m on each side at 55-60rpm.
  • Grass seed usually carries 1.8-2.0m forward and 1.5-1.7 cm to the side. A walking speed of 80-90 cm/sec is suggested (48-54m/minute).
  • Please test the product you are spreading to achieve the manufacturer’s recommended coverage.

Filling The Hopper:

  • Move flow rate lever to zero position.
  • Set spreader on a flat surface.
  • Remove the hopper lid.
  • Fill the hopper. For the initial use, it is wise to partly fill the hopper and practice spreading and making adjustments.
  • Replace hopper lid – the lid prevents spillage and helps keep dust and other material away from the operator.
  • When spreading chemicals be sure to wear protective clothing, a respirator and eye protection.
  • Do not load the hopper while carrying the spreader.

Before opening, carefully read the Solo Granular Spreader Users Manual. The product is designed for the particular purpose indicated in the manual. Failure to use the product strictly as directed may be illegal, dangerous and render the product ineffective.
