Description
Terrador Herbicide
Active Ingredient: Tiafenacil @ 700g/kg
Terrador Herbicide is for the control and increased speed of brownout of a range of broadleaf and grass weeds before the establishment of crops, fallows and other uses.
Terrador Herbicide is a fast-acting, non-selective, contact spike herbicide with rapid foliar uptake that quickly cuts through broadleaf and grass weeds. It provides exceptional broadleaf weed and annual grass control with no residual activity.
Nufarm’s Terrador Herbicide, made from Tiafenacil, is classified as a group 14 herbicide. It has a standout ability to penetrate the plasma membranes of a wide range of weeds and has activity on both broadleaf and grass weed species. Penetration of plasma membranes is assisted with most group 14 chemistry if a spray oil is used.
What weeds does Terrador Herbicide target;
Afghan melon (Citrullus lanatus) | Dwarf amaranthus (Amaranthus macrocarpus) | Saffron Thistle (Carthamus lanatus) | Volunteer lupins (Lupinus angustifolius) |
Annual ryegrass (Lolium rigidum) | Fat hen (Chenopodium album.) | Silvergrass (Vulpia bromoides) | Volunteer mung beans (Vigna radiata) |
Barley grass (Hordeum leporinum.) | Flaxleaf fleabane (Conyza bonariensis) | Sorrel (Rumex acetose) | Volunteer narrow leaf lupins (Lupinus angustifolius) |
Barnyard grass (Echinochloa colona) | Forage rape (Brassica campestris spp) | Sowthistle (Sonchus oleraceus) | Volunteer oats (Avena sativa) |
Bellvine (Ipomea plebeian) | Fumitory (Fumaria densiflora) | Stork’s-bill (Erodium botrys) | Volunteer vetch (Vicia sativa.) |
Bladder ketmia (Hibiscus trionum) | Heliotrope (Heliotropium europaeum) | Sub clover (Trifolium subterraneum) | Volunteer wheat (Triticum aestivum) |
Brome grass (Bromus spp.) | Marshmallow (Malva parviflora) | Volunteer barley (Hordeum vulgare) | Wild oats (Avena spp.) |
Caltrop (Tribulus terrestris) | Medic (Medicago polymorpha) | Volunteer canola (Brassica nupus) | Wild radish (Raphanus raphanistrum) |
Capeweed (Arctotheca calendula) | Native vigna(Vigna lanceolata) | Volunteer cotton (Gossypium spp.) | Wild turnip (Rapistrum rugosum) |
Clammy Goosefoot (Chenopodium pumilio) | Phalaris (Phalaris tuberosa) | Volunteer faba beans (Vicia faba) | Wintergrass (Poa annua) |
Cow-vine (Ipomoea lonchophylla) | Prickly lettuce (Lactuca serriola) | Volunteer field peas (Pisum sativum arvense) | |
Double gee (Emex australis) | Redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus) | Volunteer lentils (Lens culinaris) |
Nufarm’s Terrador Herbicide does not have any residual activity when used at labelled rates. The active ingredient tiafenacil has a rapid degradation rate. It is not tightly bound to soil particles and is readily available for microbial breakdown.
Several trials have been conducted to determine the plant-back periods for most crops.
- 1 hour – Wheat, Barley, Oats, Lupin, Chickpea, Field pea, Corn, Sorghum, Faba bean & Lentil
- 1 week – Canola (when planted at 15-20g/ha only)
- 2 weeks – Canola (when planted at 21-40g/ha only)
- 4 weeks – Mung bean
- 6 weeks – Cotton
With glyphosate resistance becoming a wider problem, especially with some key grass weeds such as Annual Ryegrass, herbicides with alternative modes of action should be considered. Group 14 activities with grass activity (including Terrador Herbicide) could help manage resistant weeds if used wisely. Currently, there are no recorded cases of weeds resistant to Group 14 herbicides in Australia. Terrador Herbicide is a member of the Pyrimidindione group of herbicides. The mode of action of Terrador Herbicide is to inhibit protoporphyrinogen oxidase.
