Description

Amon Amitrole Herbicide

Active Ingredients: Amitrole @ 250g/L & Ammonium Thiocyanate @ 220g/L

Similar or Comparable To: Amitrole T (Nufarm) and Sabakem Amitrole 47T Herbicide (Sabakem)

Amon Herbicide is for the control of weeds in Non Agricultural Areas, Orchards, Vineyards, Irrigation Ditches and Drains, Roadsides, Wheat and Barley.

  • Amon Herbicide is also suitable to use as an alternative to glyphosate to aid in resistance management and prevention.
  • Amon Herbicide is a member of the triazole group of herbicides.
  • Amon Herbicide has the inhibitors of carotenoid biosynthesis mode of action and is a Group Q Herbicide.
  • Amon Herbicide is an efficacious product to control hard to kill broadleaf weeds.
  • Amon Herbicide is particularly strong on broadleaf weeds, however it also has very significant activity on smaller grasses when used at higher rates. For larger grasses or where lower rates are used, a tank-mix partner is essential.
  • Amon Herbicide is Group Q chemistry and provides an effective alternative to glyphosate.
  • Amon Herbicide provides effective control on hard to kill broadleaf weeds such as fleabane, sowthistle, bladder ketmia and volunteer cotton

How Does Amon Herbicide Work:

Amon Herbicide works via a systemic action which is slower than glyphosate. Fast initial uptake into the leaf gives rapid cessation of growth, however the active then moves quite slowly through both xylem and phloem, showing characteristic white bleaching of aerial parts and premature expression of flowering parts before eventually leading to progressive destruction of vegetative matter and desiccation of the entire plant over a longer period of time.

Tips For Use

General Instructions:

  • Before opening, carefully read Safety Directions, First Aid Instructions, Directions for Use, Storage and Disposal and Protection Statements.

Converting per Ha Rate to Spot Spraying:

  • High volume spraying – Add 1/10th of rate on Weed Table to 150 litres of water. Each 150 litres of mix will cover 1000m2 (1/10th ha) eg. if rate in Weed Table is 1.4L, use 140 mL/150L water.
  • Knapsack Application – Add 1/100th of rate on Weed Table to 10 litres of water. Each 10 litres of mix will cover 100m2 (1/100th ha) eg. if rate in Weed Table is 1.4L, use 14 mL/10L water

Application Information:

  • Thoroughly wet all surfaces by aiming to apply 1700-2200 L/ha with power spraying equipment, 900-1100 L/ha (1 L/10 m2) using a knapsack and 170 L/ha when using a misting machine.
  • Note: Misting machines are NOT recommended for use in Tasmania.

Mixing Instructions:

  • To improve the efficiency of this product, it is recommended that a surfactant be added to the spray mixture at the following rates:
    • Power Spraying: 250 mL/100 L spray mixture.
    • Knapsack Spraying: 55 mL/15 L knapsack.
    • Misting Machine: 60 mL/15 L spray mixture. (NOT recommended in Tasmania)

Application Advice:

  • Best on actively growing weeds.
  • Good coverage is essential to assist uptake and efficacy.
  • Ideally used in environmental conditions which allow slow drying on leaf surfaces.
  • An adjuvant such as LI 700 is highly recommended to provide “humectancy” or to slow down drying of the droplet on the leaf surface to improve uptake.
  • Amon Herbicide is relatively unaffected by wet foliage, cold conditions and frost.

Drift Warning:

  • Amon Herbicide is a non-selective herbicide and may damage crops, pastures and some ornamentals.
  • However, it is safer to use near plants susceptible to phenoxy type herbicides.
  • Do not apply under weather conditions, or from spraying equipment that may cause spray to drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands or pastures.

Storage:

  • Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area. Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.

Safety Directions:

  • Do not inhale spray mist.
  • After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water.

First Aid:

  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 13 11 26.
  • For further information, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

Withholding Period

Withholding Period Details (WHP):

  • Orchards and Vines – Do not apply later than 56 days before harvest.
