Bow and Arrow Herbicide

Bow & Arrow Herbicide does not specify Portulaca oleracea, also known as Purslane or Pigweed, as a weed controlled. As this is a succulent herb rather than a broadleaf weed, we cannot guarantee the efficacy of Bow & Arrow against Portulaca oleracea. Assuming the Portulaca oleracea is in a turf/domestic setting, there are not many on-label herbicides for this weed and situation. You could consider spot-spraying with a Glyphosate-based herbicide (Glyphosate will damage your lawn), or using a herbicide such as Kamba 750 Herbicide, Dicamba 500, or an Oxyflurofen-based herbicide. Please ensure you read the SDS and Label before purchase and use to confirm suitability for your situation & follow all manufacturers' guidelines. 

Zoysia grass is not explicitly listed on the Bow & Arrow Herbicide product label as either tolerant or sensitive. Therefore, you may wish to conduct an 'off-label' test on a small, inconspicuous area to check for any damage or discolouration, before proceeding at your own risk.  For further clarification, contact the manufacturer, Turf Culture, on 1300 11 8873

Bow and Arrow Herbicide is registered as safe for use on most common Buffalo turf varieties; however, the label contains a critical warning that it can cause damage to older 'ST' varieties (e.g., ST85). Therefore, the label recommends that if you are unsure of your exact Buffalo grass variety, you should test a small, inconspicuous area first and wait 7-14 days to check for any negative reactions before spraying the entire lawn. Please ensure you read the SDS and Label prior to purchase and use to confirm suitability for your situation & follow all manufacturer's guidelines. The withholding period for Bow and Arrow Herbicide states, "Do not graze treated turf or cut any treated area (including turf clippings) for feeding to poultry or livestock for 14 days after application". As such, you would need to wait a minimum of 14 days after spraying with Bow and Arrow Herbicide before allowing cattle to graze the sprayed area. Depending on the type of turf you have, you could consider the following options to control Chickweed in your lawn - Dicamba-M Herbicides (Ie Kamba-M), Casper, 3D Herbicide, Stature Turf Herbicide, Monument, Proforce Duke or Recondo Herbicide. Be sure to check that the selective chemical is suitable for use on your turf. For example, do not use Kamba M on Buffalo Turf, as severe damage or death may result. 

Bow and Arrow Herbicide is not registered to control Flaxleaf Fleabane. While Bow and Arrow is a popular and generally effective broadleaf herbicide for lawns, Flaxleaf Fleabane has shown resistance to the active ingredients in this product and has not been controlled effectively.

The best practice is to remove the animals/ pets from the area before spraying Bow & Arrow Herbicide allowing re-entry once the spray has dried.

Generally, you should apply the selective herbicide (Bow & Arrow) first, then wait for the recommended time (1-2 weeks) before applying the foliar fertiliser (LiquiMaxx GreenMaxx Fertiliser). This is because the herbicide needs to be absorbed by the target weeds to be effective. Applying fertiliser first could stimulate weed growth, making them more difficult to control. The fertiliser needs to be absorbed by the desirable plants to provide nutrients. If applied before the herbicide, the weeds might absorb some of the fertiliser, reducing its effectiveness on the desired plants.

Leontodon is a genus of plants in the tribe Cichorieae within the family Asteraceae, commonly known as hawkbits. Bow & Arrow Herbicide is not registered to control this weed. To our knowledge, no selective turf herbicides are registered for this purpose.

Bow & Arrow Herbicide is not 'specifically' registered to control Flickweed (aka - Hairy bittercress, Nursery Weed, Common Bittercress and Splitting Jenny). However, it does claim to control a wide range of broadleaf weeds, which is likely to include bittercress. Herbicides with MCPA included (i.e. Bow & Arrow and Kamba M) are considered quite effective on swine cress weeds in most situations. 

Bow and Arrow Herbicide is not registered or recommended to control 'rats tail grass'.  Bow and arrow controls various broadleaf weeds in turf. We recommend Tussock Herbicide, Sporo 745 Herbicide, or Flupropanate Granular Herbicide for the control of 'rats tail grass'.

Bow & Arrow Herbicide is safe to use on most turf varieties and only lists varieties such as Kikuyu, Carpet grass and Queensland Blue Couch, where transient discolouration may occur. Some varieties of Buffalo grasses (e.g. ST85) are also susceptible. To our knowledge, blends of Kentucky blue, rye, and tall fescue grass are not affected by Bow & Arrow Herbicide. However, further clarification can be sought from the manufacturer at 1300118873.

Bow & Arrow Herbicide (Diflufenican @ 15g/L, MCPA @ 300g/L & Clopyralid @ 20g/L)  and Surefire Buffalo Bindi & Broadleaf Weedkiller (Bromoxynil @ 200g/L & MCPA Ester @ 200g/L) are both selective herbicides registered for the control of various broadleaf weeds in certain lawn varieties. Both herbicides contain Bromoxynil; however, Bow & Arrow is a 3-way combination of actives, compared to only two in the Bindi & Broadleaf Weedkiller. Often, the combination of active ingredients has a synergistic effect, enhancing the potency of the herbicide. We can't advise if one is better, and both products are purchased frequently with good feedback. To determine which option best suits your needs, we recommend carefully reading the registered 'directions for use' for each product to ensure suitability for your situation. Rotation of selective herbicide actives is not required in a domestic lawn situation as resistance is highly unlikely. 

Kikuyu needs to be well-established before applying Bow & Arrow Herbicide. Wait until the Kikuyu has developed a strong root system and has been mown at least 3-4 times. This usually takes several weeks to a couple of months after seeding.

Bow & Arrow Herbicide is not registered or recommended to control Bahia Grass. It is only effective for selective broadleaf weed control in turf, not grass control.

Bow & Arrow Herbicide is not registered or recommended to remove buffalo grass from couch. Bow & Arrow Herbicide can safely be used on most Buffalo turf varieties.

Bow & Arrow Herbicide is registered for the selective control of various broadleaf weeds in turf, but this does NOT include Nutgrass. We recommend Tempra Herbicide, Sempra Herbicide, Recondo 100WG Herbicide or Monument Liquid Turf Herbicide for the selective control of nutgrass use. Always read the 'directions for use' carefully to ensure suitability to your situation.

Bow & Arrow Herbicide is registered to control many broadleaf weeds in turf, including Bindii (Jo-Jo, Onehunga), (Bindy-Eye, Bindi) (Soliva sessilis), Capeweed (Arctotheca calendula), Cat’s ear / Flatweed (Hypochoeris radicata), Creeping oxalis (Oxalis corniculata), Cudweed (Gnaphalium spp.), Plantain (Plantago lanceolata) & White Clover (Trifolium repens). Bow & Arrow Herbicide is not registered to control Pennywort. Turf Herbicides containing Dicamba & MCPA (i.e. Kamba M Herbicide) are recommended for controlling Pennywort in certain turf species.

Bow & Arrow Herbicide is not recommended or registered to control Onion Grass/ Guildford Grass. It is a post-emergent herbicide for the control of broadleaf weeds in turf. To control Onion Grass/ Guildford Grass in buffalo lawn, we recommend ProForce Duke Herbicide or Destiny Selective Turf Herbicide. Always read the 'directions for use' carefully to ensure suitability to your situation. 

 Bow & Arrow Herbicide is a post-emergent herbicide recommended for actively growing weeds for best results. It can be applied as a spot spray or a whole lawn application. It will only target the existing weeds in the lawn and does not provide ongoing residual control. If there are existing weed seeds in the soil, these will germinate under suitable conditions. We recommend pre-emergent herbicides such as Spartan Herbicide, Barricade Herbicide, Oxafert or Echelon Duo Advanced Herbicide, Insecticide & Fertiliser for residual control.

The "directions for use" recommendation is to apply Bow & Arrow Herbicide to actively growing weeds when not stressed or when frost is imminent.   This indicates that warmer months of the year, i.e. spring/summer are the ideal times to apply.  Always read the 'directions for use' carefully before application.

 Bow & Arrow Herbicide does not require additional surfactant for use on most weeds as it has a surfactant package included in the formulation.  If you are spraying hard-to-kill weeds (i.e. glossy or hairy leaves), the plants are stressed, or conditions are not challenging (i.e. hot and dry), additional surfactant would be recommended.
