Taskforce Herbicide

Active Ingredient: Flupropanate Present As The Sodium Salt @ 745g/L

Similar Or Comparable To Tossa Herbicide (Axichem), Tussock Herbicide (Growchoice), Kenock Water Soluble Liquid Herbicide (Kendon), Rambo Herbicide (FMC) & Rocky Herbicide (Apparent)

What species will Taskforce Herbicide control;

  • Serrated Tussock
  • Chilean needle grass
  • Giant Parramatta Grass
  • Giant rats tail grass
  • African lovegrass

Where can Taskforce Herbicide be used;

  • Pasture
  • Industrial Land Or Area
  • Native Woodland, Public Area – General, Roadside Weed Control & Urban Areas
  • Non Crop Areas

Taskforce Herbicide is unique as it will selectively kill the targeted weed species without devastating many other desirable pasture species.

Taskforce Herbicide is a systemic herbicide with low contact activity as it is mainly taken up by the roots where it is translocated to other parts of the plant. This process begins after a minimum of 5 mm of rain. The herbicide acts very slowly and the first signs of the weeds dying may take up to 3 months – just dependent on factors such as soil type, rainfall etc. A major benefit of this herbicide is its ability to keep killing germinating seedlings for 3-4 years after initial treatment.

Taskforce Herbicide is very slow acting. The tips of the target weed will yellow off first which may take 2-4 months depending on the time of year it was applied. The target weed will brown off faster when actively growing in spring and autumn. The weed will then brown off from the tips to the base over the next 6-9 months. You can tell they are dead as they can easily be pulled out of the ground by hand.

Taskforce herbicide is washed into the soil by rain or heavy dews and is then absorbed by the roots of the target weeds. The best time to apply Taskforce is actually immediately before or during a light rain. This reduces any foliar absorption of the spray mix by the desirable pasture species you are trying to promote.

Apply Taskforce using well-calibrated equipment using the lowest water rate you can apply confidently. The new label water rate is 70-200L ha (Recommended 80L of water per hectare). Uniform coverage of the treated area is your goal and then let the rain wash the Taskforce into the ground. Use nozzles that deliver a spray quality of coarse droplets. Avoid fine or very fine droplets. You do not need to saturate the pasture!!

  1. Q Can I spray Taskforce Herbicide prior to light rain or in light rain?

Although Taskforce Herbicide is recommended to be applied in average or wetter-than-average seasons, it should not be used before or during rainfall as this may dilute the chemical being applied.

Taskforce Herbicide is restrained not to be sprayed near desirable trees.  We do not recommend using it around grapevines.

  4. Can Taskforce Herbicide be used to treat paspalum and broadleaf weeds in a couch lawn with detrimental damage occurring to the established couch?

Taskforce Herbicide is registered to control Paspalum (Paspalum dilatatum) in certain situations.  It is also registered to control Couch (Cynodon dactylon).  If you spray Taskforce onto couch to selectively control paspalum, it will take out both species.  Taskforce Herbicide does not control broadleaf weeds.  We recommend DSMA Selective Herbicide, Destiny Selective Turf Herbicide, or Monument Liquid Turf Herbicide to remove paspalum from green couch (not Qld Blue Couch) & selective herbicides such as Dicamba & MCPA to remove broadleaf weeds selectively.

Tips For Use

Restraints:

  • Do not apply the product to steeply sloping sites when applying high rates recommended for perennial grass control.
  • Do not allow spray drift onto susceptible crops and ornamentals.
  • Do not spray near desirable trees.

Important:

  • This product is very slow acting and control of existing growth will take 3-12 months depending on weather conditions and senescence of plant foliage.
  • The actual length of satisfactory residual control will depend on soil type and rainfall until regeneration occurs from grass seed or surviving rhizomes.
  • Taskforce Herbicide is liable to leach and move in the soil under heavy rainfall or irrigation, and dry conditions favour its persistence in the soil.
  • Avoid use in channels and drains and where roots of desirable plants may extend; and in other situations where desirable plants grow close to the treated area.
  • Control of grasses growing in shaded conditions may be reduced.
  • Subterranean clover and other annual legumes may be damaged by this product if exposed to the spray or if they germinate before product residues have dissipated form the soil.
  • Do not treat pasture land with this product more than once per year.

Mixing:

  • This product is highly soluble in water and the required amount can be added directly to the spray tank while stirring or with the agitator running.
  • When used in mixtures with dispersible powders, first make a slurry of the powder in a small quantity of water, add this to the half-filled spray tank with the agitator running, and then add the required quantity of the product and continue filling until the spray tank is full.
  • Good agitation must be maintained during the spraying operation.

Wetting Agent:

  • No wetting agent/surfactant needs to be added unless specifically stated in the direction for use table as the predominant mode of action is via root absorption of the herbicide and not by contact with the leaf surface.

Compatibility:

  • This product may be mixed with Glyphosate to improve the knockdown of existing vegetation.

Application:

  • Boom spray equipment should be carefully calibrated to deliver the required volume of spray and checked to see that the nozzles are delivering a uniform spray pattern.

Paddock Preparation:

  • Graze to reduce cover of desirable species for spraying.

Re-Seeding:

  • Desirable pasture species such as phalaris, cocksfoot, ryegrass, red and white clovers, subterranean clovers and lucerne may be sown after at least 100 mm of leaching rain has fallen. If drought conditions prevail defer sowing until next season.

Storage and Disposal:

  • Store in the closed original container in a cool, well ventilated area.
  • Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight. Triple-rinse containers before disposal.
  • Add rinsings to spray tank.
  • Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site.

Safety Directions:

  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • Do not inhale spray mist.
  • When preparing the spray wear elbow-length PVC gloves and face shield or goggles.
  • If product on skin, immediately wash area with soap and water.
  • After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands arms and face thoroughly with soap and water.
  • After each day’s use, wash gloves and face shield or goggles and contaminated clothing.

  • If poisoning occurs contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre.
