Surefire Triadimenol 250EC Fungicide

Active Ingredient: Triadimenol @ 250g/L

Similar or Equiv to: Bayfidan 250 EC Fungicide (Bayer Crop Science)

Surefire Triadimenol 250EC Fungicide is registered to control powdery mildew in cucurbits as well as tomatoes, peppers (both capsicums and chillies), eggplants and papaws.  Surefire Triadimenol 250 EC Fungicide also provides systemic control of ringspot on cabbages, cauliflowers, broccoli and brussels sprouts – and even pineapple disease of sugarcane.

Surefire Triadimenol 250 EC Fungicide is a broad-spectrum, systemic, foliar fungicide that is quickly taken up by plants and translocated within the plant. Because of its systemic activity, Triadimenol 250 EC Fungicide is less affected by rainfall or irrigation than contact type fungicides.

Surefire Triadimenol 250 EC Fungicide is widely used in both vineyards and vegetable crops. Triadimenol 250 EC Fungicide is used in many vineyard’ powdery mildew programs and is now also used as a cost-effective tactical option with the advantage that it can be used throughout the season (nb check withholding periods if using it late).

The active ingredient Triadimenol is a member of the class of triazoles that is 3,3-dimethyl-1-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butane-1,2-diol substituted at position O1 by a 4-chlorophenyl group.  It is a fungicide used around the world for cereals, beet and brassicas used to control a range of diseases including powdery mildew, rusts, bunts and smuts.  It has a role as an EC 1.14.13.70 (sterol 14alpha-demethylase) inhibitor, a xenobiotic metabolite and an antifungal agrochemical.  It is an aromatic ether, a member of monochlorobenzenes, a conazole fungicide, a triazole fungicide, a secondary alcohol and a hemiaminal ether.

    Answered by the admin

Surefire Triadimenol 250 EC Fungicide is registered for use in ornamental plants to control Myrtle rust, so it may be effective against the rust affecting your frangipanis. Still, results can't be guaranteed because it is not registered for this specific purpose. The application should be by ground only, i.e. knapsack, powered hand-gun, boom spray or air-assisted sprayer. A sufficient volume must be applied to ensure thorough coverage of all plant surfaces. Another option to consider is Tombstone Duo Fungicide. It effectively combines the two fungicides Trifloxystrobin & Tebuconazole to prevent and systemically control diseases on many ornamental plants.

Tips For Use

Mixing:

  • Half fill the spray tank with clean water then add the required quantity of Surefire Triadimenol 250 EC Fungicide with the agitator going.
  • Fill to top with water and agitate thoroughly. Do not tank mix with trace elements or insecticides without first checking compatibility.

Application:

Dilute Spraying (Grapevines, Pawpaws)

  • Use a sprayer designed to apply high volumes of water up to the point of run-off and matched to the crop being sprayed.
  • Set up and operate the sprayer to achieve even coverage throughout the crop canopy. Apply sufficient water to cover the crop to the point of run-off. Avoid excessive run-off.
  • The required water volume may be determined by applying different test volumes, using different settings on the sprayer, from industry guidelines or expert advice.
  • Add the amount of product specified in the Directions for Use table for each 100 L of water. Spray to the point of run-off.
  • The required dilute spray volume will change the sprayer set up and operation may also need to be changed, as the crop grows.

Concentrate Spraying (Grapevines, Pawpaws)

  • Use a sprayer designed and set up for concentrate spraying (that is a sprayer which applies water volumes less than those required to reach the point of run-off) and matched to the crop being sprayed.
  • Set up and operate the sprayer to achieve even coverage throughout the crop canopy using your chosen water volume. Determine an appropriate dilute spray volume (See Dilute Spraying above) for the crop canopy. This is needed to calculate the concentrate mixing rate.
  • The mixing rate for concentrate spraying can then be calculated in the following way:

Example only

  1. Dilute spray volume as determined above. For example 1500 L/ha
  2. Your chosen concentrate spray volume: For example 500 L/ha
  3. The concentration factor in this example is 3x (ie 1500 L ÷ 500 L = 3)
  4. As the dilute label rate is 10 mL/100 L for grapevines, then the concentrate rate becomes 3 x 10, that is 30 mL/100 L of concentrate spray.
  • The chosen spray volume, amount of product per 100 L of water, and the spray set up and operation may need to be changed as the crop grows.
  • For grapevines – Do not use a concentrate rate higher than that specified in the Critical Comments because a rate higher than that has not been tested.
  • For further information on concentrate spraying, users are advised to consult relevant industry guidelines, undertake appropriate competency training and follow industry best practices.
