Velmac G Granular Herbicide (Hexazinone) VELMAC-G Macspred

Description

Velmac G Granular Herbicide

Active Ingredient: Hexazinone @ 200g/kg

Velmac G Herbicide is applied as a dry granule in industrial or commercial situations and Pinus radiata plantations for the control of various annual and perennial weeds, woody weeds and brush species as directed on label.

Velmac G Herbicide is a Soil Residual herbicide which offers season long weed control & successive control of weed germinations.

Velmac G is used for the control of a wide range of annual and perennial grasses, broadleaf weeds and woody weeds in commercial and industrial areas, rights of way, around agricultural buildings and in Pinus radiata plantations.

Product Profile:

  • Velmac G is a granular formulation that is not to be mixed in water but used as a dry granule application.
  • Velmac G is registered for the control of a wide range of annual and perennial grasses, broadleaf weeds and woody weeds in commercial and industrial areas, rights of way, around agricultural buildings and in Pinus radiata Plantations.
  • Velmac G is applied through specialised application equipment which has been developed for accurate ground and aerial distribution of granules in plantation forestry or directly from the 1 kg shaker pack in industrial situations.
  • Velmac G inhibits photosynthesis, the process by which plants manufacture foods. It enters the plant through the root system and is rapidly translocated throughout the plant.
  • Velmac G works best when applied early post emergence to moist soils and actively growing weeds.
  • Velmac G control symptoms may be slower to appear than liquid sprays, however, the granules are proven to provide an extended (over liquids) residual weed control period. This is because the product’s activity is via root absorption and herbicide is not tied up in surface organic matter or weed foliage as compared to liquids.

Tips For Use

General Instructions:

  • This product is a granular formulation that does not need to be mixed in water.
  • It is an effective residual herbicide.
  • For best residual control, apply during periods of active plant growth.
  • Application when vegetation is dormant, semi-dormant, under moisture stress or during the winter months may not be as effective.
  • In temperate winter rainfall areas where temperatures are generally below 25°C during the period of active growth, overall effect may be slow to appear.
  • For best control of perennials such as Paspalum, apply during the months of Spring in these areas.
  • In WA and SA only, apply during April-August when adequate rainfall is expected.
  • Sufficient moisture is required after treatment to promote root absorption by the weed species. Results obtained may vary with the amount of chemical applied, rainfall, soil type and other conditions.
  • Do not apply Velmac G during periods of intense rainfall, when windspeed exceeds 30kph (for ground application) or 20kph (for aerial application) or under conditions which will cause pellet movement to non-target areas.
  • On slopes of 20% or 30% apply Velmac G by strip or spot application only.
  • On slopes greater than 30% apply by spot application Only.

Equipment and Application:

  • For application to individual Pinus radiata trees use the Weed-A-Metre. The Weed-A-Metre should be held at waist height, over the pine tree using the appropriate trigger to deliver the correct dose.
  • Do not use the Weed-A-Metre in windy conditions.

Crop Safety (Pinus Radiata Only)

  • Because death or injury to trees may result, do not apply after planting in the following situations:-
  • On trees which show poor vigour due to disease, or environmental factors such as drought moisture stress or waterlogging.
  • On poorly drained soils
  • On gravelly or rocky soils, and exposed subsoils.
  • On light, sandy soils

Protection of Crops, Native and Other Non-Target Plants:

  • Do not apply the product on or near desirable trees or other plants, or on areas where their roots may extend. As guidance this is two times their height, or more depending on the species and other conditions.
  • Do not apply the product in areas where a surface flow of water could wash the chemicals into areas where the roots of desirable trees or plants may extend.
  • Do not use in irrigation channels or in drains where water is discharged onto pasture land or crop land, on lawns, walkways, driveways or tennis courts.
  • Do not empty equipment in the above situations.

Protection of Livestock, Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans, and Environment:

  • Keep stock away from treated areas.
  • Do not contaminate steams, rivers or waterways with the chemical or used containers.
  • Do not apply within 25m of a recognised waterway, or further if native riverbank vegetation may be damaged (see above for protection of native plants).

Storage and Disposal:

  • Store in the closed original container, in dry, cool, well-ventilated area, out of direct sunlight,
  • Do no re-use container for any purpose.
  • During storage keep from contact with fertilisers, other pesticides and seeds
