Description

Jumbo Marking Applicator Rings

To suit the Jumbo Marking Ring Expander & Applicator from Leader Products.

The Jumbo Marking Ring Applicator & Expander is ideal for castrating calves & bulls over 6 months (120kg – 300kg).

The ring opens to 10cm x 7.5cm x 7.5cm.

The application of the ring is quick and efficient, by expanding the ring with an applicator and placing over scrotum.

A silicon spray or lubricant should be used on arm to allow the tool to open/close freely.

Always wear protective glasses when using Jumbo Rings

The rings are covered in an antiseptic powder with no clenching required once expanded.

Directions Of Use

  • Open handle until it stops. All three prongs should be touching.
  • Install ring by pushing one side of the ring down one side of a prong.
  • Light lubrication of the ring with an oil based lubricant prior to use may assist rings from catching on the prongs as the expander opens, causing breakage.
  • Hold in place with finger.
  • Continue same process in a circular motion until ring is over all three prongs.
  • Push down as far as possible on all three sides.
  • Close handles.
  • Hold both arms to the castrator together to prevent them from releasing.
  • Slip the skin of the scrotal sac through the opening.
  • Then work each testicle through the opening of the ring.
  • Sometimes you might be able to just slip the whole scrotum through with the testicles.
  • Release the handles.
  • Then with an upward and side motion, this will release the tool off the ring.
  • You can practice this on a broom handle or chair leg.
  • Check ring to ensure it isn‘t twisted.
  • (Note: If a ring has been opened once it cannot be reused)

Tips For Use

Tips for use.

  • Put the triangular stretched rubber as close to the testicles and as far below the belly as possible.
  • After releasing the ring, inspect to make sure the ring is placed correctly.
  • If swelling occurs below the rubber ring, then re-apply immediately.
  • Once castration has been performed on the larger animals, the drop time for the scrotum to fall off is between 20 to 40 days.
  • Some customers cut the scrotum off just below the ring in about 7 to 14 days.
  • These tools should be used under supervision of a Veterinarian.

My rings keep on breaking, why is this?

  • This may be a result of several factors. First check to see how old the latex rings are. If they are older than one season, and haven‘t been stored properly, this could be a cause.
  • Secondly, if they haven‘t been stored properly, being left in the sun or outside with varying temperatures, this will cause the latex to deteriorate and result in breakage.
  • Other causes may be from castrating in cold weather, and the rings are cold, which may cause them to break.
  • Light lubrication of the ring with an oil based lubicant prior to use may assist rings from catching on the prongs as the expander opens, causing breakage.
  • Be sure they are kept warm before use, such as a heating pad or some other way.
  • Do not open or close rings before use.
  • Jumbo Marking Rings must be used on the Jumbo Ring Applicator & Expander.
