Description

Broadblade Herbicide

Active Ingredient:  Flumetsulam @ 800g/kg

Similar Or Comparable To: Broadstrike Herbicide (Dow) & Broadsword Herbicide (Nufarm)

Broadblade Herbicide is a water dispersible granule formulation for the post-emergence and salvage control of certain broadleaf weeds in winter cereals (including those undersown with clover, lucerne or medics); clover, fenugreek, lathyrus, lucerne, medic, serradella and vetch (Popany only) seed crops and pastures; chickpeas, field peas, lentils, maize, peanuts; and for the pre-emergence control of certain broadleaf weeds in maize, pigeon peas and soybeans.

Warm conditions greatly improve the activity of Broadblade. It’s highly selective to wheat, triticale and rye and is also registered for use in lentils/chickpeas and field peas.

Broadblade Herbicide is a Group B herbicide containing the active ingredient Flumetsulam which is a member of the Sulfonamides chemical group which are ALS (Acetolactotae Synthase) Inhibitors.

Broadblade Herbicide is absorbed by foliage and roots of plants and translocated to the growing points where it acts by inhibiting the enzyme Acetolactante Synthase (ALS) which is essential for amino acid synthesis.   Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and are essential for plant growth.

Why use Broadblade Herbicide?

  • Contains the active ingredient Flumetsulam
  • Is highly selective to medics, lucerne, clover and most forage legumes, annual and perennial grasses.
  • Allows weeds to be controlled early when pasture is in the 2-3 trifoliate leaf stage without damage to pasture species.
  • Is highly compatible with a wide range of herbicides and insecticides.

  2. Does Broadblade Herbicide kill smartweed?

  3. Q Does Broadblade Herbicide kill smartweed?
Asked by Frank Peisley on March 26, 2022 4:37 pm
    Answered by the admin

Broadblade Herbicide does not list Smartweed as one of the plants it controls but it does have claims to control Knotweed in certain situations.  Knotweed is another name used for Smartweed.  You may need to double-check the species of plant you are looking to kill as the Persicaria species of plants are known commonly as knotweeds or smartweeds.
