Description
Hydraflo 2 granular soil wetting agent
Hydraflo 2 is a granular soil wetting agent containing 15% blended non-ionic surfactants on an inert carrier. It controls hydrophobic soil and localised dry patch across turf, landscape and nursery potting mixes. Growers apply it to rewet dry soils in summer and to drain waterlogged soils in winter.
How the granular soil wetting agent works
The dual-action formulation works in two stages. First, it acts immediately as a topdress application. Then it delivers longer-term performance once incorporated into soils and potting mixes. As a result, the granules reduce water surface tension and spread moisture evenly through the soil profile. Consequently, water penetrates dry media instead of channelling straight down the pot.
Summer rewetting and winter drainage
In summer, Hydraflo 2 rewets hydrophobic soils and removes localised dry spots. Therefore, plants reach water throughout the root zone. In winter, it encourages free drainage from waterlogged soils. In addition, this drainage lets air back into the root zone, so plants take up nutrients. Because the granules need no mixing, applicators avoid the errors common with liquid concentrates. The product also inhibits moss, algae and soil-borne pathogens. Furthermore, it will not burn turf when used as directed.
ICL manufactures Hydraflo 2 for Australian local conditions. The registrant is Everris Australia Pty Ltd, trading as ICL.
Frequently asked questions
Q. What is Hydraflo 2 used for?
A. Hydraflo 2 rewets dry, water-repellent soils and drains waterlogged ones. It suits turf, landscape and nursery potting mixes. Growers also use it to prevent summer dry patch.
Q. What is the active ingredient in Hydraflo 2?
A. Hydraflo 2 contains 15% blended non-ionic surfactants. An inert carrier makes up the remaining 85%. The formulation comes as a granule.
Q. How often should I apply Hydraflo 2 to turf?
A. Reapply every 8 to 12 weeks on greens, tees and fairways. Season-long passive turf rates last longer. Always water in with 4 to 6mm after application.
Q. Will Hydraflo 2 burn my turf?
A. No. Hydraflo 2 will not burn turf when used as directed. It stays safe on all ornamental plants and turfgrasses.
Q. Is Hydraflo 2 a scheduled poison?
A. No. The SDS classifies it as non-hazardous and not a scheduled poison. However, avoid dust and wash your hands after handling.
