Directions Of Use

To attach to the bottle:

• Use a sterile Luer needle to pre-puncture the centre of the rubber bung on the vaccine bottle before attachment.
• Ensure the needle sheath is replaced when you are done.
• Place the top of the draw-off spike at the centre of the bung.
• Tilt the draw-off cap to one side to engage the rib on the inside of the cap with the side of the metal closure.
• Hold firmly and push (with the thumb using a lever action) the draw-off cap so the spike penetrates the bung, and the cap snaps completely over the metal closure.
• Push the draw-off tube fully onto the inlet barbs on the injector.
  • Nb – The draw-off cap is designed for use with both collapsible and non-collapsible vaccine packs and will therefore, let air into the bottle during use.

To fit the needle:

• For safety, do not remove the needle sheath until ready to prime.
• Screw the rear flange of the needle clockwise into the metal luer lock until tight. Do not over-tighten.

To remove the needle:

• Unscrew the needle in an anti-clockwise direction.
• Caution – Please safely dispose of used needles.

To prime:

• Remove the needle sheath.
• Hold the injector with the needle pointing vertically upwards and squeeze gently to expel all air before commencing the injection.

If the unit fails during use:

• Check tubing connections.
• Check that the draw-off spike is fitted correctly.
• Disconnect the draw-off tube and flush potential contaminants from valves by submerging the injector in warm water and pumping vigorously.

Re-lubrication:

• If the plunger becomes sluggish during use, remove the barrel by unscrewing and re-lubricate the plunger O-ring with olive oil or any food-grade vegetable oil.

Maintenance:

• Always flush the injector thoroughly with warm, clean water and re-lubricate the o-ring immediately after use.

Sterilisation:

• Use cold water sterilant only.

Storage:

• Store the injector in a cool dry place, preferable in a plastic bag to keep it dust free for re-use.

To set the dose:

• Compress the injector handles before turning the dose adjuster. 
• Keep handles compressed while setting the dose. 
• Turn the dose adjuster clockwise or anti-clockwise until the required dose appears in the dose window (see below). Once set to the required dose, let the injector handles open as normal.
