Description

Nufarm Factor Herbicide

Active Ingredient: Butroxydim @ 250g/L

Nufarm Factor Herbicide is for the control of certain grasses in a range of broadacre crops. Factor Herbicide is uniquely Australian, built for Australian farmers to control one of Australia’s most troublesome weeds, annual ryegrass.

Butroxydim, the active ingredient of Nufarm’s Factor Herbicide, was first designed, synthesized and then developed in Australia. Nufarm’s Factor has demonstrated control of annual ryegrass where other products struggle.

Nufarm Factor Herbicide can be used on a wide range of broadleaf crops, including both summer and winter pulses, oilseeds and pasture. Nufarm’s Factor can be mixed with other grass-selective herbicides to give greater control of troublesome grass weeds and can be used on a wide range of broadleaf crops, including both summer and winter pulses, oilseeds and pasture.

Nufarm Factor Herbicide can be used alone in the legume phase at 180 grams plus to manage resistant ryegrass. Its real benefits are seen when it is combined with other grass-selective herbicides, like clethodim, to give greater management of grass weeds. The combination of Factor with Clethodim has been shown to offer management of Clethodim-resistant ryegrass.

What grasses does Nufarm Factor Herbicide target;

    Nufarm Factor Herbicide is for the control of certain grasses in a range of broadacre crops. Nufarm Factor Herbicide is not recommended or registered to control elastic grass in turf. To the best of our knowledge, no selective herbicides are registered to control elastic grass in turf.

Tips For Use

Method Of Application:

  • Good spray coverage is essential for maximum results.
  • Spray equipment must be checked and calibrated accurately before application.

Broadacre Use:

  • Water volumes per hectare will depend on nozzle selection and ground speed but should be 50 – 100 L/ha.
  • Use higher volumes of spray (min 85 L/ha) to achieve better coverage of dense, vigorous weed  infestations and/or if the nozzles used produce coarser than a fine spray quality (measured with water).

Aerial Application:

  • The product may be applied through boom or Micronair units in 20 – 30 L of water per hectare.
  • The use of the higher volume is preferred due to more reliable results.

Restraints:

  • Do not treat weeds that are not actively growing or are growing under stress. Under such circumstances, the biological processes of the weeds slow down, and Factor transport in the weed can be drastically reduced, resulting in an incomplete kill or suppression of the weeds.
  • Do not apply to crops or weeds which are suffering moisture stress (waterlogged or drought-affected), insect, disease or nutritional disorders, under conditions of prolonged high temperatures or frost affected (or if frosts are imminent) or stress from previous herbicide or foliar fertiliser treatment.
  • Do not apply to annual grass weeds after mid-tillering.
  • Do not apply at the flowering stage of weeds.
  • Do not apply at the flowering stage of the crop.

Protection Of Crops, Native And Other Non-Target Plants;

  • Do not apply under weather conditions or from spraying equipment which may cause spray to drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands or pastures.
  • Do not plant cereal crops for a period of 4 weeks after application of Nufarm Factor.

Protection Of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans And Environment;

  • Highly toxic to algae and aquatic plants.
  • Do not contaminate dams, rivers or streams with the chemical or used containers.

Storage:

  • Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight.

Safety Directions:

  • Harmful if swallowed.
  • It will irritate the eyes and skin.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • Avoid inhaling dust.
  • When preparing the product for use, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist, a washable hat, elbow-length chemical-resistant gloves and goggles.
  • If the product is on the skin, immediately wash the area with soap and water.
  • If the product is in the eyes, wash it out immediately with water.
  • After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water.
  • After each day’s use, wash gloves, goggles and contaminated clothing.

First Aid:

  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.
  • For further information, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
