Surefire Gamma Herbicide GAMMA-GLUFOSINATE-AMMONIUM PCT

Description

Surefire Gamma Herbicide

Active Ingredient: Glufosinate-Ammonium @ 200g/L

Similar or comparable to Capo 200 Herbicide (Axichem) & Sabakem Glufosinate 400 Herbicide (Sabakem)

Surefire Gamma Herbicide is for the non-residual control of broadleaf and grass weeds in various situations.  It is a non-volatile herbicide, containing 200g/l glufosinate-ammonium and is registered for use in the control of many annual & perennial broadleaf weeds & grasses in orchards, vineyards & olive plantations.  Surefire Gamma Herbicide is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems.

Why choose Surefire Gamma Herbicide;

  • Provides broad-spectrum weed control with a high level of crop safety.
  • Very effective on over 80 species of broadleaf and grass weeds and has a high level of crop safety.
  • Is considered an alternative herbicide to Glyphosate, however, does require 100% coverage to be effective.
  • Is a non-volatile herbicide with non-selective activity against many annual and perennial broadleaf weeds and grasses.

Surefire Gamma Herbicide is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems. It is not significantly translocated as an active herbicide throughout the plant, and therefore will only kill that part of a green plant that is contacted by the spray.   Glufosinate-Ammonium 200 does not provide residual weed control. Visible symptoms of control appear in 3 to 7 days, but complete desiccation may take 20 to 30 days under cool conditions. The best results are achieved when the application is made under good growing conditions. Application to weeds under stress (e.g. due to continuous severe frosts, dry or waterlogged conditions) should be avoided.

If you need to control weeds in grapevines or other valuable horticulture crops, Gamma Glufosinate-Ammonium 200 is the right choice to clean up around the crop while giving it maximum protection.

More than most products, Gamma Glufosinate-Ammonium 200 really rewards careful application with exceptional performance. When it is applied with the right equipment at the right timing.  Surefire Gamma Herbicide may be used around trees/vines less than two years old provided they are effectively shielded from spray and spray drift.

Surefire Gamma Herbicide is compatible with most residual herbicides. The addition of a wetting agent or other adjuvant is generally not considered necessary, with the exception of the required addition of an adjuvant to assist in the control of Pinus spp. However, benefits have been obtained using a wetting agent or adjuvant on hard-to-wet weeds when using water rates in excess of 500 L/ha. The rate is 25 mL/100 L of a 1000 g/L non-ionic wetting agent, or equivalent.

Surefire Gamma Herbicide mixes easily with water.

    Answered by the admin

As Surefire Gamma Herbicide is designed to target many broadleaf and grasses species, it is likely to also severely damage or kill the Signal grass and Rhodes grass. As no data is available on the safety of Surefire Gamma Herbicide in Signal and Rhodes grass pastures, an off-label trial would need to be undertaken to test the results.

Asked by Matthew on September 15, 2022 12:33 pm
    Answered by the admin

We would recommend that you do not use Surefire Gamma Herbicide on your Kikuyu lawn.  Even though Kikuyu is not listed on Surefire Gamma Herbicides label as a plant controlled, the product does target many other grass species very similar to Kikuyu.  Gamma is not registered for selective use in any grass or turf situation, and it is doubtful that Kikuyu would be unaffected.  If you require more clarity with this query, please contact the manufacturer (PCT) on 07 3711 7022.

Surefire Gamma Herbicide is not registered, and makes no claims to control kikuyu.

  6. I have silver leaf desmodium, and was told that this product would get rid of it. I was told by Timbara to dilute 25ml to a 5 litre spray bottle; can you please advise if this is the correct ratio. I sprayed my yard with the recommended ratio, and while I was very careful to target the leaves of the plant only, I didn't realise it killed Couch. I had been told by a PCT technician that this was the correct product, and that it was absorbed by the foilage and poisoned the tap root. If I was selective enough to keep it to the plant only, should I be worried about the poison affecting the roots of the grass lawn?

    Answered by the admin

The mixing rate for Surefire Gamma when spraying Silverleaf Desmodium is 5-mL per 1-Litre water (25mL per 5-L).  Surefire Gamma is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems.  It is not significantly translocated as an active herbicide through the plant, and therefore will only kill that part of a green plant that is contacted by the spray.  Couch Grass is susceptible to Surefire Gamma. However, you would have to thoroughly spray the green leaves as it does not translocate through the plant like other herbicides (i.e. Glyphosate).

    Answered by the admin

The Gamma Glufosinate 200 Herbicide is registered to kill Couch Grass.  If you are looking to kill a Couch lawn then it will do the job, if you are after a selective herbicide to remove weeds from a Couch lawn then this is NOT your product.

Tips For Use

The recommended rate of use is determined by the following criteria:

  • Weed species: Apply the appropriate rate to control the least susceptible weed present as per the lists of weeds controlled in the weeds tables (see directions for use label).
  • Weed stage of growth: Use the lower rate when weeds are young and succulent (grasses: pre-tillering; broadleaves: cotyledons to 4-leaf) or the population is very sparse.  A median rate should be used for medium sized plants (grasses: tillering; broadleaves: 4-leaf to advanced vegetative) and the high rate should be used when weeds are mature (grasses: noding to flowering; broadleaves: budding to flowering).
  • Weed Density: Use the higher rates when the weed population is dense. Thorough coverage of weeds is essential for good control.
  • Climatic Conditions: Best results are achieved when applied under warm humid conditions. Control will be reduced and/or slower under cold conditions and/or overcast conditions. Good results will be achieved under most other conditions, however poor results may occur under hot, dry conditions (temperature above 33°C with a relative humidity below 50%).  Weeds that have been hardened or stunted in growth due to stressed conditions should be treated at the maximum rate.
  • Coverage: Complete coverage of weeds is essential for good control. Poor coverage may result in re-growth.
  • Perennial weeds: Apply when weeds are actively growing. Follow-up treatments will be necessary to control re-growth of perennial weeds in most cases.

Note: Gamma is suitable for application by ground sprayers, boom sprayers, directed spray Equipment, knapsack/ handgun and controlled droplet application equipment. It is not suitable for aerial application.
