Hi Luke, and thanks for your review. Unfortunately, in the current climate, the cost of goods is increasing every time we are reordering stock. We constantly try to put forward our most competitive price possible, but if we were selling new stock up against a competitor’s older stock, then we were always going to be at a disadvantage.

  • When using the product on sheep with a minimum of 6 weeks wool growth, apply the product with the Avenge + Spray-On applicator gun only.
  • Ensure the nozzle of the applicator gun is 15 – 20cm above the fleece to ensure a uniform distribution of the product.
  • It is not recommended to apply during windy or gusty weather conditions as spray drift may reduce the quantity being delivered to the fleece and subsequent efficacy.
  • Sheep can be treated at the same time for long wool body and breech strike prevention, as required.

Body Strike Prevention:

  • Apply dose in 2 bands down the backline from the poll to tail butt, one on either side of the sheep. Ensure bands overlap along the midline (refer to Table 1).

1 - The Avenge + Fly - Sheep Spray-On & Pour-On that is on hand in October 2021 has an expiry date of August 2023.

2 - Avenge + Fly - Sheep Spray-On & Pour-On should only be applied with an approved Pour-On or Spray-On Applicator Gun, not out of a handheld bottle.  The correct applicator gun ensures a uniform distribution of Avenge to ensure the product will provide fly and lice control as listed on the labels claims.  If not applied correctly, results could vary drastically. Complete instructions for use are available on the Avenge Label found in the 'SDS & Technical' or 'Direction For Use' Tabs on the Specialist Sales website.

3 - Specialist Sales does not sell 1-Litre containers for pour-on applications.  We do sell Pour-On and Spray-on applicator guns (Animal Health Category).

  5. Q Will this product kill the eggs already laid in the wool or is it only a preventative?

Avenge plus Fly is a knockdown product that is designed to kill adult and juvenile lice, not their eggs.  However, the juvenile lice that hatch from the eggs are killed by the residual product up to the period on the label.

Avenge plus Fly is for the control of neonicotinoid susceptible body lice (Bovicola ovis) when applied to shorn sheep up to 7 days off shears and unshorn lambs up to 2 months of age with prolonged protection (proven to protect sheep against reinfestation with lice for 4 weeks after treatment when applied within 24 hours of shearing).

Tips For Use

Lice Control

  • To prevent reinfestation treated sheep must not be mixed with lice free sheep until 6 weeks after treatment.
  • Live lice on ewes treated within 6 weeks of lambing can infect lambs from these ewes.
  • Efficacy is not affected by moderate rainfall either before or after treatment (50mm rain 1 hour prior to treatment and/or 12.5mm 2 hours after treatment and/or 25mm 24 hours after treatment).
  • Treated sheep must not be mixed with lousy sheep.
  • Do not use on sheep which have not been cleanly shorn for any reason e.g., mycotic dermatitis.
  • Management practices that promote good lice control such as complete musters, accurate treatment of every animal according to label, ensuring all animals can be treated at the same time, no split shearings, stock-proof fencing to prevent external introductions, quarantine and lice treatment of all newly purchased stock are essential for effective lice control.

Blowfly Control:

  • The sheep blowfly (Lucilia cuprina) is responsible for most cases of flystrike.
  • Moisture and faeces trapped in the skin folds of sheep attract blowflies to lay their eggs.
  • Once the eggs hatch, maggots burrow into the skin and feed, leading to severe wounds and if left untreated, this can result in death.
  • Environmental conditions that increase the risk of flystrike are temperatures between 15 – 38 degrees, enough rain to keep sheep moist for three days and wind speeds below 9km/h (allowing flies the best opportunity to disperse).

Other Directions:

  • Treated sheep could potentially develop backline dermatitis following prolonged exposure to extreme heat and sunlight without access to shade.
  • Do not leave the container, hose or applicator in the sun for long periods of time.
  • Avenge + Fly may be used in conjunction with worm control drenches and at the same time as a vaccination.
  • Avenge + Fly contains a blue dye to identify treated sheep. This dye is scourable from the wool. The product can be detrimental to certain plastics, paints and surface finishes. Avoid contact with such surfaces.
  • Avenge + Fly is safe for use on breeding rams.

Storage:

  • Store below 30°C (Room Temperature).
  • Store in original container tightly closed in a safe place.

Safety Directions:

  • Will irritate the eyes.
  • Avoid contact with eyes.
  • When using the product wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing) and a washable hat and goggles.
  • If the product in the eyes, wash it out immediately with water.
  • After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands arms and face thoroughly with soap and water.
  • After each days use, wash goggles and contaminated clothing.

Rehandling Interval:

  • Do not come into contact with treated sheep until the spray has dried unless wearing cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing).

First Aid:

  • If poisoning occurs contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.
