Fennec Pour-On for Sheep is Australia’s first dual-active combination pour-on lousicide and Abamectin wormer for sheep. Fennec Pour-On is also for treating and controlling susceptible strains of lice (Bovicola ovis) on sheep, including synthetic pyrethroid-resistant lice when applied up to 7 days after shearing. What parasites does Fennec Pour-On For Sheep Control;

Fennec Pour-On is effective for the treatment and control of the following abamectin-sensitive adult and immature gastrointestinal nematodes:

  • Small Brown Stomach Worm (Teladorsagia circumcincta)
  • Black Scour Worm (Trichostrongylus spp.)
  • Stomach Hair Worm (Trichostrongylus axei)
  • Nodule Worm (Oesophagostomum columbianum)
  • Large Bowel Worm (Oesophagostomum venulosum)

Fennec Pour-On for Sheep provides 5 weeks of protection from re-infestation; 

  • Fennec Pour-On is indicated for application within 24 hours after shearing.
  • Applying Fennec within this time frame will provide a 5-week protection period from re-infestation with lice.

Directions Of Use

Dosage and Administration:

  • Dose rate: 10 mL for each 10 kg body weight.
  • Sheep should be weighed before treatment.
  • Apply the entire dose to sheep under 30kg as a single broadband stripe from the poll of the head to the base of the tail.
  • For sheep over 30kg, apply half the dose as a broadband stripe on either side of the midline from the mid-neck to the base of the tail. The stripes should be no further than 10 cm apart.

Fennec Pour-On for Sheep Application

  • Animals heavier than 90 kg are to be dosed at 10 mL per 10 kg. 
  • A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment. 
  • Dose the mob according to the heaviest animal by live weight in each group (ewes, wethers, rams, lambs). 
  • Where there is a large variation in size within the group, the dose rate should be based on the label directions for each weight range. 
  • Do not underdose. 
  • Drafting into two or more lines may be appropriate to avoid excessive overdosing.

Tips For Use

General Directions: 

  • Not to be used for any purpose or in any manner contrary to this label unless authorised under the appropriate legislation.
  • Apply the product only with the recommended applicator fitted with a six-hole T-bar nozzle.
  • Check the accuracy of equipment before and during treatment. 
  • Efficacy is not affected by heavy rainfall before and/or after treatment.
  • Avoid treating ewes less than 6 weeks before lambing commences while ewes are lambing or have lambs at foot, as live lice can persist and infect the lambs.
  • Treated sheep should not be mixed with lice-free sheep until 6 weeks after treatment. 
  • Management practices that promote good lice control such as complete musters, accurate treatment of every animal according to label, ensuring all animals can be treated at the same time, no split shearings, stock-proof fencing to prevent external introductions, quarantine and lice treatment of all newly purchased stock are essential for effective lice control.
  • Fennec Pour-On for Sheep contains a blue dye to identify treated sheep. This dye is scourable from wool.

Lice Management:

  • Treated sheep should not be mixed with untreated sheep until 6 weeks after treatment with Fennec PourOn for Sheep.
  • To reduce the risk of lice infestation and to maximise the chance of success of lice treatment, it is important to concurrently implement the following management practices:
  • Undertaking complete musters and treating every sheep accurately, according to the label.
  • Ensuring all sheep are treated at the same time.
  • Avoiding split shearing.
  • Maintain stock-proof fences to prevent strays and straying.
  • Implement quarantine practices for lice, including treating any new introductions to the mob.

Restraints: 

  • Do not use on ewes that are producing or may in the future produce milk that may be used or processed for human consumption.

Contraindications: 

  • Do not use it on unshorn sheep or shorn sheep more than 7 days after shearing.
  • Do not use on ewes with unshorn lambs at foot.
  • This product should not be used on lambs under 6 weeks of age or less than 10 kg bodyweight.
  • This product should not be used on severely sick, debilitated or dying animals.
  • This product should not be used on sheep that have not been cleanly shorn for any reason e.G. Mycotic dermatitis.

Precautions: 

  • This product is for application as a pour-on only. Do not give orally or by injection.
  • Do not apply this product at the same time as any other pour-on products.

Storage: 

  • Store below 30°C (Room Temperature). 
  • Protect from light.

Safety Directions: 

  • Harmful if swallowed. 
  • It will irritate the eyes. 
  • Avoid contact with eyes. 
  • Wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing), elbow-length chemical-resistant gloves, and face shields or goggles when using the product. 
  • Wash hands after use. 
  • After each day’s use, wash gloves, face shields or goggles and contaminated clothing.

Re-handling Interval:

  • Do not handle sheep after treatment until dry.

First Aid Instructions:

  • If poisoning occurs contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone 131126. 
  • If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. 
  • If in eyes wash out immediately with water.

Withholding Period Details (WHP):

  • Meat: Do not use less than 63 days before slaughter for human consumption. 
  • Milk: Do not use on ewes that are producing or may in the future produce milk that may be used or processed for human consumption. 
  • Wool: Do not use less than 6 months before shearing or fibre collection. Use of this product may result in wool residues that may not comply with European Union environmental quality standards. Wool treated with this product may contain detectable residues; adequate treatment records should be kept and made available if requested by wool buyers. 

Export Slaughter Interval (ESI): 

  • Do not use less than 84 days before slaughter for export
