Description
Wetter 1000 Surfactant
Active Ingredient: Nonyl Phenol and Alcohol Ethoxylates @ 1000g/L
Similar or Comparable to: Spreadwet 1000 Wetting Agent (DKSH), Chemwet 1000 (Nufarm) & BS 1000 (CropCare)
Wetter 1000 Surfactant is a non-ionic 100% wetting agent for the improvement of spray coverage when using agricultural chemicals.
Wetters/spreaders enhance the spreading and adhesion of spray droplets over target surfaces by reducing the surface tension of the herbicide formulation. Wetters include non-ionic surfactants which are non-reactive in that they are not negatively or positively charged. They remain on the leaf once dry and allow rewetting after rain, permitting additional pesticide uptake.
- Wetter 1000 can be used where the addition of a surfactant is required or recommended on the agricultural chemical label.
- Wetter 1000 is a spray additive suitable for herbicides, is suitable for use with all types of water in high and low volume spraying.
- Wetter 1000 increases wetting and spray coverage. And can be used with acid and alkaline sprays.
A wetting agent is an additive that is intended to improve the effectiveness of a herbicide. Some herbicides require no additional adjuvants to perform well, but some perform better with adjuvants, and this is usually detailed on the product label. Many adjuvants have been developed to help herbicides cover, stick to and penetrate the leaves of target plants.
What type of products can Wetter 1000 Surfactant be used with;
- Herbicides (including Glyphosate, Paraquat, Diquat, Sulfonylurea Herbicides, Selective Grass Herbicides, Hormone Herbicides)
- Insecticides
- Fungicides
What is Wetter 1000 Surfactant also referred as;
- Activator
- Additive
- Penetrant
- Spreader
- Spreading Adjuvant
- Surfactant
- Wetting Agent
What is the main difference between detergent and wetting agents?
Detergents are surfactants; however, they are formulated to be used as a cleaning solution. Therefore, they do not force the chemical into the plant and will not benefit the herbicide to be more effective. Detergents look as though they are effective as they foam up and leave an oily residue on the plant’s surface, but that is the extent of it.
Wetting agents like Wetter 1000 are chemical substances that have been produced specifically to increase the spreading and penetrating properties of a liquid by lowering the surface tension, that is, the tendency of its molecules to adhere to each other.
When used according to the direction of use, wetting agents (Wetter 1000) or surfactants maximize spray application by wetting and sticking the herbicide to the plant by lowering the surface tension of the spray droplet. Some also assist in penetrating the plant by forcing the active ingredient deep inside the weed tissue, where it is translocated to the root system. This is what separates non-ionic wetting agents (Wetter 1000) from simple washing detergent and improves the efficacy of your herbicide, creating a greater success rate in eradicating the weed.
A wetting agent (Wetter 1000) or surfactant ‘wet’ the plant foliage rather than simply beading up and dripping off the plant’s surface, ensuring a better result from the herbicides and insecticides you use and spend your money. This is particularly important when plants have waxy or hairy foliage. Breaking down the surface tension of the spray droplet allows the chemical to penetrate the foliage and kill the weed or pest.
Eradicating weeds is labour-intensive and can be expensive, so you want to ensure you do it right the first time.
