Description
Prolan 500 Herbicide
Active Ingredient: Oryzalin @ 500g/L
Similar or comparable to Surflan 500 Flowable Herbicide (UPL) & Cameo 500 Flowable Herbicide (ADAMA)
Prolan 500 Herbicide is a unique pre-emergent herbicide for the control of certain annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in orchards, vineyards, amenity plantings, nurseries, ornamentals, established and newly planted turf, industrial areas and rights of way.
Prolan 500 Herbicide only affects the root tips of germinating weed seeds and is therefore safe to use around a large range of crops and plants.
Prolan 500 Herbicide is a unique pre-emergent herbicide, which is applied to the soil or turf surface to selectively control a range of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds.
Prolan 500 Herbicide is for the long-term pre-emergent control of many weeds in amenity plantings, nurseries and garden beds. It can be sprayed over desirable ornamental species without any phytotoxic effect and provides residual control of weeds for up to 8 months.

Mode of Action:
Prolan 500 is based on the active constituent Oryzalin and is a member of the dinitroaniline family. For weed resistance management purposes, it is a Group D Herbicide. Its main activity on plant tissue is to inhibit cell elongation in the newly emerging root shoots of those plants with fibrous (hairy) root systems (primarily grasses). Prolan 500 Herbicide also inhibits root growth in certain small-seeded broadleaf weeds. Prolan binds strongly to soil colloids and is unlikely to leach or move.
Prolan 500 Herbicide controls susceptible weed species by affecting seedlings as they germinate. Its action on plant growth is by interference with new cell development and growth of the root.
Prolan 500 does not control established weeds.
Prolan 500 does not prevent the germination of the weed seed.
Prolan 500 inhibits the development of cells in the meristematic or new cell producing areas of the root.
In effect Prolan 500 inhibits the growth of the weed seedling since the plant cannot send out new roots to absorb soil nutrients and moisture to support its growth.
