  • Panther Selective Herbicide should be applied by correctly calibrated spray equipment.
  • Achieving even and thorough coverage of the target weeds (leaf area and growing point) and the soil surface is essential to optimise the knockdown and residual control of wild radish with Panther.
  • With contact herbicides like Panther, it is accepted that an even droplet density of 40–60 droplets per sq. cm is the minimum required for adequate coverage.

Rates are a general guide only.  Before opening, carefully read Panther Selective Herbicide directions for use, precautionary and protection statements, storage and disposal, safety directions and first aid instructions.  The product is designed for the particular purpose indicated on the label. Failure to use the product strictly as directed may be illegal, dangerous and render the product ineffective.

Tips For Use

Restraints:

  • Do not apply if crops or weeds are stressed due to dry or excessively moist conditions.
  • Do not apply to crops under stress due to disease or insect damage.
  • Do not apply to frost-affected crops or if frosts are imminent.
  • Do not apply when heavy rain is expected within 4 hours.

Water Rates:

Boom Sprayer:

  • A minimum of 50L of water per hectare should be used, however, for optimum results water rates of 70-100L/ha are recommended.
  • Increase the water volume if weed infestation is heavy or crop cover is dense. Complete coverage of weeds is essential.

Aircraft (NSW, Vic, SA only):

  • Apply a minimum of 30L water per hectare.
  • Effective weed control will only be achieved where good coverage of the leaf surface is achieved.

Surfactant:

  • Do not add a spray oil or surfactant.
  • It is not recommended that a spray oil or surfactant should be added to Panther when used alone.
  • The situation when mixing Panther with grass herbicides is detailed in the compatibility section.

Application Timing:

Cereals:

  • For optimum weed control, Panther should be applied to young, actively growing weeds.
  • Use the higher rates of Panther when weed density or weed size is greater.
  • At rates of 750 mL/ha or less, Panther can be applied from the 3-leaf stage of the crop through to late tillering.
  • At higher rates, the application should be delayed until the 5-leaf stage of the crop.

Pastures:

  • Application is recommended prior to the eighth trifoliate leaf stage, however applications prior to the third leaf stage may result in crop damage, especially under stressed conditions and in sandy soils.
  • Do not apply to annual medics or lucerne

Protection Of Livestock:

Grazing Precaution:

  • Sprayed weeds may become more palatable to stock and a higher intake of some weeds may result in stock poisoning and death from causes such as nitrate poisoning.
  • Care should be taken especially where Capeweed, Paterson’s Curse and variegated thistles predominate in the pasture.
  • Avoid grazing with young or breeding stock.
  • Do not graze horses or pigs on Paterson’s Curse.
  • If in doubt, contact your nearest Department of Agriculture.
