Racumin Rat and Mouse Blocks (Coumatetralyl)

Racumin Rat and Mouse Blocks are ready-to-use bait blocks for the control of rats and mice.  Racumin Blocks contain Coumatetralyl, a first-generation anticoagulant that works through a multi-feed system. Unlike second and third-generation baits, coumatetralyl is metabolised quickly so dead rodents carry very low residues; this decreases the risk of secondary poisoning to pets or wildlife who may scavenge on the dead rodents.

Active Ingredient: Coumatetralyl @ 0.37g/kg

Description

Racumin Rat and Mouse Blocks

Active Ingredient: Coumatetralyl @ 0.37g/kg

Similar or Comparable to Surefire Couma All Weather Rat and Mouse Blocks (PCT Holdings Pty Ltd)

Using the multi-feed approach, Racumin Blocks will kill in a similar timeframe as a single feed bait (3-8 days) without the risk of bait shyness. Racumin Blocks are formulated as wax blocks for better weather resistance. Racumin Rat and Mouse Blocks are useful in damp locations such as sewers or gutters, or outdoor locations where loose grain baits spoil quickly.

Rats and mice like to gnaw their teeth on hard surfaces so the wax blocks are ideal.

Racumin Blocks can be used around the farm, in industrial buildings and in crop situations as part of a rodent control strategy.

What is the application rate of Racumin Rat and Mouse Blocks;

  • Mice & Rats (Domestic, industrial, wharf areas, farm buildings, dairies etc) – 1 to 2 blocks per bait site.
  • Rats (Field Crops including Sugar Cane, Macadamias and Pineapples) – 2 blocks per bait station.

  • Industrial Premises
  • Domestic Premises
  • Abattoirs (non-production Area)
  • Dairy – Milk Handling Area
  • Farm Buildings
  • Wharf Areas – General
  • Field Crops – Macadamia, Pineapple & Sugar Cane

Why choose Racumin Rat and Mouse Blocks;

  • Formulated from a weather-resistant substance making this product is ideal for damp locations, including sewers and drains.

Happy to.use first generation rat baits. Much better consistency than last lot, which were less waxy and more crumbly. Killing the rats.

Hi Tammy. The Racumin Rat and Mouse Blocks are one of our most popular rodenticide products, and the feedback is usually very positive. If you think the Racumin is not controlling the rodents, you may need to change the active ingredient of the poison. A switch to The Rudduck Rodenticide Paste may be a good option. It is for controlling rats and mice, including those resistant to other anticoagulants, in and around industrial, commercial, public services and domestic buildings.

Excellent rat bait, long lasting. Tied into poly tubes, a few baits in each protect my grain store for months.

Directions Of Use

Pest Situation Rate Critical Comments
Mice & Rats Domestic and industrial buildings and external areas associated with such establishments, wharf areas, around farm buildings, dairies, meatworks (non-product areas) 30-60 gm (1-2 blocks per bait site) Place blocks in areas of known rodent activity. Do not exceed 3m between baits for mice, or 9m for rats. Follow the baiting strategies for no-crop situations detailed below.
Rats Field Crops as below; 60 gm (2 blocks per bait station) Follow the baiting strategies for no-crop situations and place bait stations as described in Preparation of Bait Stations in directions for use. Baiting must be used as part of a comprehensive rodent control program. Clear gullies, weeds and scrub. Keep headlands well slashed or bare to discourage rats and to expose them to predators
Rats Sugar Cane Practice in-crop grass and weed control. Obtain rat population monitoring data from district organisations and bait according to local recommendations. Strategic baiting is best carried out in December & January
Rats Macadamia If not possible to clear orchard boundaries, rehabilitate to rain forest. Monitor rodent damage levels prior to baiting. Concentrate baiting in the outer 3 rows of crop closest to scrubby habitats and when nuts are available.
Rats Pineapples Place bait stations at 9 metre intervals, 1 metre inside the block on all sides where rats are entering the block. Bait should be added to bait stations when fruit begins to form and bait replenished until after harvest.

Even though the active ingredient used in Racumin Rat & Mouse Blocks (Coumatetralyl) has a low risk of secondary poisoning, the risk is still there.  The active ingredient is still, after all, a poison that does not become inert after killing the rodent.  The advantage of the Coumatetralyl is that compared to other actives is that the amount that must be consumed to be severe is much higher.  If wildlife, including birdlife, feed on poisoned rodents or baits, poisoning can occur if enough of the residue is present.

Tips For Use

Tips for Use:

  • Eliminate, as far as practicable, all alternative food sources.
  • If baits are eaten quickly, increase the number of baits.
  • Baiting for at least 2 weeks is necessary to reduce mouse or rat numbers but continue observation and bait replenishment until no more baits are taken.
  • Remove and destroy untaken bait at the conclusion of the rodent control program.
  • Do not place baits in the open unless in bait stations.
  • Do not graze or feed livestock on treated areas whilst bait is present.
  • Do not exceed 3m between bait stations for mice (or 9m for rats).
  • Do not place baits in any position accessible to children, livestock or domestic pets.
  • Do not feed the bait to either wild or domestic birds.

Baiting Strategies:

  • Locate bait stations around crop perimeters (particularly between the crop and grassy or bushy habitats), near obvious rat runs, and/or close to known rat hiding spots such as stumps, rocks, logs or burrows.
  • Bait stations must be put down several days before the start of the control program to give rats time to become acquainted with the station.
  • During the first week offer free feed to attract the rats.
  • The bait material must be placed in a bait station where it is not in direct contact with the ground and is not accessible to birds and other wildlife. Bait should be checked and replenished every 3 days until no more baits are taken.

Restraints:

  • Do not place baits in the open unless in bait stations.
  • Do not graze or feed livestock on treated areas whilst bait is present.
  • Do not place baits in any position accessible to children, livestock or domestic pets.

Storage:

  • Store in original container tightly closed in a safe place.
  • Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.

Safety:

  • Poisonous if swallowed.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • Do not inhale the dust.
  • If on the skin, and after each baiting, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
  • When using the product and preparing for use, wear elbow-length PVC gloves.
  • After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water.
  • After each day’s use wash gloves
  • Do not touch bait.

First Aid:

  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre.  Phone Australia 131126. Vitamin K1 (phytomenadione) is antidotal.
  • For further information please refer to the Material Safety Data (SDS)
