Description
Meridian Turf Insecticide
Active Ingredient: Thiamethoxam @ 250g/kg
Meridian Turf Insecticide is for the control of African Black Beetle, Argentinian Scarab and Billbug in Turf. Meridian Turf Insecticide achieves the perfect balance of solubility and soil binding. Once correctly applied and washed in, this versatile insecticide has excellent bioavailability, ensuring season-long grub control in situations where irrigation is irregular.
Meridian Turf Insecticide is particularly active against the 1st and 2nd instar larvae of the most destructive turf-infecting grub species. The window for application should thus be positioned around the peak egg-laying period of adult beetles. This timing can be monitored by the increasing activity of adult beetles, usually during spring and early summer.
Why choose Meridian Turf Insecticide?
- Flexible rate range with residual control of up to 3 months.
- Superior bioavailability in soil at lower soil moisture levels compared to imidacloprid, making it a more consistent performer throughout the season.
- A versatile option to use on sporting fields, parks, ovals, fairways and other situations with irregular irrigation.
- Formulated in a water-dispersible granule (WG) with minimal odour and non-staining properties.
- Backed by the proven reliability of Syngenta Turf.
What is the application rate for Merdian Turf Insecticide?
- The recommended rate for Meridian is 800 g to 1.2 kg/ha diluted in at least 500 L of water/ha (8-12 g in 5 L of water per 100 m²).
Why is Meridian Turf Insecticide a powerful partner in turfgrass pest management?
Meridian contains Thiamethoxam, which has established itself as a leading active ingredient in turf insecticides due to a powerful combination of systemic action, broad-spectrum control, and long-lasting residual effects. These attributes make it a highly effective and efficient solution for managing a wide array of destructive turf pests. Thiamethoxam is a neonicotinoid insecticide that works by disrupting the central nervous system of insects. Specifically, it binds to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, causing nerve overstimulation, paralysis, and ultimately, death of the pest. This mode of action is highly effective against a broad spectrum of turf-damaging insects.
After application, Meridian Turf Insecticide remains effective in the soil and the plant for an extended period, providing continuous protection against pest infestations for weeks or even months. This residual control reduces the need for frequent re-application, saving time, labour, and resources
