Advion Fire Ant Bait ADVION Syngenta

Description

Advion Fire Ant Bait (Active Ingredient: Indoxacarb @ 0.45g/kg)

Advion Fire Ant Bait, containing Indoxacarb, is for the control of Fire Ants around buildings, gardens, grazing areas, lawns and public areas. The bait is made from a corn grit and oil bait matrix that is highly palatable and provides unbeatable control of fire ants.

No other product is as effective as Advion Fire Ant Bait in such a short period. Research has shown Advion can provide total colony control in as little as 72 hours and be used any time of the year, keeping areas free from this aggressive, painful, invasive pest.

With one application, Advion Fire Ant Bait provides control of foraging ants within 12 to 48 hours and total colony control within 72 hours. After only two applications, yearlong colony control can be achieved in most locations.

Why choose Advion Fire Ant Bait;

  • Advion kills not just the worker but also the queen and the larvae stages of the colony, aiming to eradicate this invasive pest.
  • The bait is desirable to Red Imported and Tropical Fire Ant species, ensuring rapid product uptake.
  • Great results from the day of the first application.
  • Depending on nest numbers and population densities, colony control can occur within 3-14 days.
  • It can be used in agricultural situations, commercial/domestic/industrial and public service areas, forests, grazing and non-crop areas, as well as in lawn and turf situations, including residential lawns and ornamental garden beds.
  • Convenient and easy to use.
  • Highly palatable corn grit and oil bait matrix in a convenient 1 kg shaker pack.
  • An application of 15 grams per nest is made 1 metre around the mound where ants enter and forage.
  • Follow-up treatments are usually limited to spot treatments of high-density nest clusters, whereas other baits (IGRs) need 3-4 additional complete treatments.

What species does Advion Fire Ant Bait target;

  • Red Imported Fire Ant (Solenopsis invicta) – Qld & NSW Only
  • Tropical Fire Ant (Solenopsis geminata) – NT Only

How does Advion Fire Ant Bait control the entire ant colony?

  • Advion contains indoxacarb, a non-repellent active ingredient, in a highly palatable corn grit and oil bait matrix.
  • The correct bait placement will maximise its transfer to the nest, killing the queen, larvae, and ants.
  • Worker ants that feed on the Advion Bait return to the nest and transfer the non-repellent active ingredient (Indoxacarb) to the brood and queen.
  • Total colony control can be achieved within 3-14 days, with worker activity significantly reduced within 48 hours.

Why is bait freshness important;

  • Ants do not eat solids.
  • Adult ants transport solids in their mandibles back to the nest, where they are converted to liquid nutrients.
  • Indoxacarb does not break down in this process but becomes more potent.

What is the application rate for Advion Fire Ant Bait;

The general application rate for Advion is;

  • Broadcast application – 1.7 kg/ha (17gm/100m2)
  • Individual Mound Treatment – 15 g/mound

    Answered by the admin

    Advion Fire Ant Bait contains indoxacarb, a non-repellent active ingredient, in a highly palatable corn grit and oil bait matrix that is highly attractive to Red Imported and Tropical Fire Ant species, ensuring rapid product uptake. Worker ants that feed on Advion Fire Ant Bait return to the nest and transfer the non-repellent active ingredient (Indoxacarb) to the brood and queen. Total colony control can be achieved within 3-14 days, with worker activity significantly reduced within 48 hours. Granular Fipronil relies on contact only as it does not contain an attractant/bait, making it take longer to achieve colony control.

Tips For Use

Application Tips:

  • Applications can be made at any time but are most effective in the morning, when ants start to forage actively (soil temperature >15.5°C and air temperature between 24°C and 32°C).
  • No more than 4 applications should be applied per year.
  • For optimal effectiveness, use fresh bait and do not apply if the surface is wet with dew or irrigation is planned, or rainfall is forecast within 24-36 hours post-application.
  • If follow-up applications are required, make these at 12-16 weeks intervals.
  • Fire Ants often nest in open spaces close to other structures, and in colder months, these nests are more visible as they are prone from the surrounding ground level to access more sunlight for warmth.

Broadcast Treatments:

  • Baits may be laid using hand-held spreaders, devices attached to motor vehicles or aerial applications.
  • Ensure application with broadcast equipment capable of evenly applying 1.7 kg Advion Fire Ant Bait per ha (17gm/100m2).
  • Calibrate and adjust equipment before application to ensure that the proper rate of the product will be applied.
  • When applying in areas of significant vegetation, utilise application methods to maximise ground-level bait coverage.
  • Baiting in fruit, herbs, nuts, and vegetables may only be undertaken in situations where direct contact will not occur with the crop.
  • For crops grown at ground level, bait should only be applied to areas/soil that will not result in direct contact of bait with the crop.
  • In these circumstances, the application may be undertaken by placing bait on the soil between crop rows.
  • Application may NOT be broadcast over the top of crops.
  • In orchard/tree crops where fruit may be harvested from the ground (i.e. macadamias), the bait should not be broadcast under trees where it is likely to come into contact with fallen fruit that may be harvested for consumption.

Individual Mound Treatments:

  • Do not disturb the mound.
  • Do not apply to the tops of the mound.
  • Apply 4 level tablespoons (15 g) Advion Fire Ant Bait per mound, uniformly distributing the product about 1 m around the mound.

Restraints:

  • Do not apply if the area to be treated is wet with dew, irrigation or rainfall.
  • Do not apply directly to crop plants (excluding pastures).

Protection Of Livestock, Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans And the Environment:

  • Very toxic to aquatic life.
  • Do not apply directly to water, waterways, or areas where rain may wash the product into aquatic environments.
  • Do not contaminate wetlands or watercourses with this product or used containers.
  • Do not use in areas where free-range poultry may consume the product.
  • Application to areas with no Fire Ants or low density of Fire Ants should be avoided to protect non-target ants.
  • If an application is necessary, use handheld spreaders.

Storage:

  • Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight.

Safety Directions:

  • Wash hands after use.
