OzCrop Captan 900WG Fungicide is for the control of certain diseases in a range of turf, ornamental plants & fruit crops including apples, almonds, grapes, pears, stonefruit & strawberries.

The active ingredient Captan is a general use pesticide that belongs to the phthalimide class of fungicides (Group M4). Although it can be applied on its own, Captan is often added as a component of other pesticide mixtures. It is used to control diseases on a number of fruits and vegetables as well as ornamental plants & turf. It may improve the outward appearance of many fruits, making them brighter and healthier-looking. Captan is utilized by both home and agricultural growers and is often applied during apple production. It is also active against certain oomycetes, such as Pythium, making it useful for controlling damping-off.

Captan 900WG Fungicide is a man-made fungicide used to control a range of fungal diseases on plants. It is commonly used on both edible crops and ornamental plants. Captan affects a fungus by interrupting a key process in its life cycle. If consumed, it is very low in toxicity but it can be harmful to the eyes. It breaks down in soils relatively quickly and is practically non-toxic to birds and bees.

Directions Of Use

General Rates:

Apples, Pears, Grapes, Stone Fruit (except apricots): 110gm per 100L Water
Strawberries: 110gm – 180gm per 100L Water
Turf: 90gm – 135gm in 25-50 litres of water for each 100m2 of turf.
Ornamentals & Tobacco Seedlings: – 110gm per 100L Water
Roses: 110gm per 100L Water.

Application:

For ground application only. Rates are for high volume spraying to point of run-off.
Do not apply by aircraft.
Apply by dilute or concentrate spraying equipment.
Apply the same total amount of product to the target crop whether applying this product by dilute or concentrate spraying methods.

Dilute Spraying:

Use a sprayer designed to apply high volumes of water up to the point of run-off and match to the crop being sprayed.
Set up and operate the sprayer to achieve even coverage throughout the crop canopy.
Apply sufficient water to cover the crop to the point of run-off.
Avoid excessive run-off.
The required water volume may be determined by applying different test volumes, using different settings on the sprayer, from industry guidelines or expert advice.
Add the amount of product specified in the Directions for Use table for each 100 L of water.
Spray to the point of run-off.
The required dilute spray volume will change and the sprayer set up and operation may also need to be changed, as the crop grows.

Concentrate Spraying:

Use a sprayer designed and set up for concentrate spraying (that is a sprayer that applies water volumes less than those required to reach the point of run-off) and matched to the crop being sprayed.
Set up and operate the sprayer to achieve even coverage throughout the crop canopy using your chosen water volume.
Determine an appropriate dilute spray volume (See Dilute Spraying above) for the crop canopy.
This is needed to calculate the concentrate mixing rate.

Tips For Use

Restraints:

Do not apply with aircraft.

Precaution – Re-entry Periods:

Do not allow entry into treated areas until the spray has dried.
When prior entry is necessary wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing) and chemical resistant gloves.
Clothing must be laundered after each day’s use.

Protection of wildlife, fish, crustaceans and environment:

Dangerous to fish.
Do not apply directly to water.
Do not apply under meteorological conditions or from spraying equipment, which could be expected to cause spray to drift onto water, or to areas where surface water is present.
Do not contaminate surface water with the concentrated product, spray mix, rinsate, drainage water from glasshouses or the used container.

Storage:

Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight.
Store in a locked room or place away from children, animals, food, feedstuffs, seed and fertilisers.

Safety Directions:

Harmful if inhaled or swallowed.
Will damage the eyes.
May irritate the skin.
May irritate the nose and throat.
Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
If product or spray in eyes, wash it out immediately with water.
Do not inhale dust or spray mist.
When opening the container, mixing and loading and preparing spray, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing), elbow-length PVC/nitrile gloves and face-shield or goggles.
When using the prepared spray wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing) and elbow-length rubber gloves.
Repeated exposure may cause allergic disorders.
Sensitive workers should use protective clothing.
Wash hands after use.
After each day’s use wash gloves, goggles and contaminated clothing.

If poisoning occurs contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.

Withholding Period

Withholding Period Details (WHP):

Strawberries: Do not harvest for 1 day after application.
Apples & Grapes, Pears Stone Fruit: Do not harvest for 7 days after application.
Do not use treated produce for stock food within 7 days of treatment.
