Description
Exitraz WP Cattle Dip and Spray contains 500 g/kg amitraz in a water-soluble sachet. It comes from The Hunter River Company Pty Limited. In addition, it controls organophosphate- and synthetic pyrethroid-resistant ticks on beef and dairy cattle. These include cattle tick, paralysis tick and bush tick.
The label also covers cattle tick on sheep, goats and deer. Each 500 g sachet makes up 1000 L of dip or spray wash. As a result, mixing is simple, because the inner pack dissolves on contact with water.

Treating ticks with Exitraz WP cattle dip and spray
Treatment intervals depend on the tick species. Routine control applies in NSW, Qld, Vic and the NT only. Therefore, check your state before you plan a programme.
| Tick | Treatment interval |
| Cattle tick | 19 to 21 days |
| Bush tick | 7 to 21 days |
| Paralysis tick | 7 to 10 days |
Resistance management and tick programmes
Resistance can develop to any chemical. For this reason, the label recommends strategic dipping at 19 to 21 day intervals. Pasture spelling and tick-resistant breeds also help keep tick numbers low. Stock Inspectors and Tick Extension Officers can advise on district programmes.
Frequently asked questions
Q. What ticks does Exitraz WP control on cattle?
A. Exitraz WP controls cattle tick, paralysis tick and bush tick on beef and dairy cattle. It also controls organophosphate and synthetic pyrethroid resistant strains. However, resistance can develop to any chemical.
Q. How often should I treat cattle with Exitraz WP?
A. The interval depends on the tick species. The table above lists each interval. However, never leave longer gaps while ticks are active.
Q. Do I need lime stabiliser with Exitraz WP?
A. Plunge dips always need lime stabiliser. Stabilised spray races need it when you keep unused wash for later. However, unstabilised spray races need none if you use all the wash within 24 hours.
Q. Can I use Exitraz WP on horses?
A. No, the label bars use on horses, other equines, felines and Chihuahua dogs. Therefore, choose a product registered for horses. Always read that product’s label before use.
Q. Can I use Exitraz WP on pregnant cattle?
A. The label lists no restraint for pregnant cattle. Even so, yarding and handling can stress heavily pregnant cows. Therefore, handle them calmly and follow good practice.
Q. Is Exitraz WP comparable to Amitik WP and Taktic WP?
A. Exitraz WP is similar to Amitik WP and Taktic WP. All three contain 500 g/kg amitraz. In addition, all three list cattle tick, bush tick and paralysis tick on cattle. However, Coopers Animal Health has discontinued Amitik WP, and Virbac has discontinued Taktic WP. Therefore, Exitraz WP makes a comparable replacement for producers who used either product. Always compare the labels before you switch.
