Exitraz EC Cattle and Pig Spray EXITRAZ EC Hunter River Company

Description

Exitraz EC Cattle and Pig Spray

Active Ingredient: Amitraz @ 125g/L

Similar or comparable to Amitik EC Cattle and Pig Spray (Intervet) & Taktic EC Acaricidal Spray For Cattle and Pigs (Virbac)

Exitraz EC Cattle and Pig Spray controls organophosphate and synthetic pyrethroid-resistant cattle ticks, paralysis ticks and bush ticks on beef and dairy cattle, and cattle ticks on sheep, goats, deer and certain circus animals (in NSW only), and mange on pigs.

Following treatment, cattle will be clean of ticks within 3-4 days, and larval ticks are prevented from attaching for up to 7 days after treatment. Susceptible ticks rapidly detach after use.

What is Exitraz EC Cattle and Pig Spray;

  • A concentrated liquid for use, when diluted, as a spray.
  • Ideal pre-clearing treatment whereby susceptible ticks rapidly detach after use.
  • Nil meat & milk withholding period.
  • Ideal for use on dairy cattle.

Why choose Exitraz EC Cattle and Pig Spray;

  • An easy-to-use spray as Exitraz EC mixes readily with water.
  • It is suitable for spray races and hand spraying as it does not settle. For dipping applications, Exitraz WP is recommended.

Contains Amitraz: Exitraz EC contains amitraz, a highly effective acaricide that controls susceptible ticks on cattle (including those resistant to synthetic pyrethroids and organophosphates) and mange mites on pigs. Unlike many other products used for tick control, Exitraz kills all stages of the tick, and the ticks detach quickly after treatment. This can reduce the time required for holding cattle in yards before movement and encourages rapid healing of the attachment site. Cattle are normally clear of ticks within 3-4 days of treatment. Unlike some other products, such as the ML pour-on’s and injections, amitraz has no activity against internal parasites, so using Exitraz EC for tick control will not inadvertently select for chemical resistance in worm populations.

Ideal pre-clearing treatment: Exitraz EC is ideal for use as a preliminary treatment before presenting cattle for inspection at the Queensland tick line (as required by law) because it kills all stages of the tick, and ticks detach quickly following treatment. This reduces the time required to hold cattle in a tick-free environment before movement and simplifies the management procedures required to minimise the chance of ticks being detected on the cattle during the inspection and the additional holding times and costs incurred as a result.

Nil meat withholding period: The nil meat withholding period of Exitraz EC provides flexibility to take advantage of marketing opportunities. It allows animals to be clear of susceptible ticks before sending them to saleyards (as required by law) quickly and without any resulting withholding issues. Exitraz EC can also be used at short intervals to avoid the death of animals, particularly calves, where the paralysis tick pressure is high without generating residue problems.

Ideal for use in dairy cattle: Exitraz EC has a nil milk withholding period, giving dairy farmers the flexibility to treat the milking herd when required. Using an effective spray can also avoid the teat damage that can result from using a plunge dip.

Spray Race Rates:

Action (Unstabilised):

  • Stabilisation is not required when all spray wash is used within 24 hours.

Action (Stabilised):

  • Stabilisation is required when the unused wash is retained for later use.

Initial Charging (Unstablised & Stabilised):

  • 400mL per 200L Water.

Mixing:

  • Pour the required amount of Exitraz EC into a bucket with approximately 10 L of water and stir thoroughly.
  • Pour the contents of the bucket into the reservoir or sump.
  • Rinse the bucket and add rinsings.
  • Fill the reservoir with the total volume of water required.

Stirring:

  • Spray wash in the sump must be stirred thoroughly at the commencement of each spraying session and again if there is a break for more than half an hour during spraying.

Reinforcing:

  • Each time the level of spray wash in the sump drops by 200L, add 250mL Exitraz EC without adding water, and continue spraying.
  • If the wash level is allowed to fall excessively without reinforcement, the concentration of Exitraz EC will fall, and efficiency will be reduced.
  • Repeat reinforcement until no more wash can be pumped out.
  • If continuing spraying, make up more wash at the initial charge rate and complete spraying.
  • When the wash is polluted, clean out the sump before recharging.

Stabilising (Unstabilised):

  • Because the wash is not stabilised, any remaining wash must be discarded, and a new batch made up for the next spraying session.
  • Alternatively, the wash may be stabilised as below.

Stabilising (Stabilised):

  • If, after spraying, the unused wash is retained in the sump, add hydrated lime (Exitraz Stabiliser).
  • Mix lime to a smooth paste with water, strain into the wash at 2kg per 200L of spray wash and stir vigorously.
  • Further additions of hydrated lime at the rate of 1kg per 200L wash must be made at intervals of 2 months when regular spraying is not in progress.
  • Stir or agitate at regular intervals.

Sampling (Unstabilised):

  • Sampling is not required.

Sampling (Stabilised):

  • Stir the sump vigorously before taking a sample from a nozzle on the race.
  • Analysis of dip samples is available through the Biosecurity Queensland, Chemical Residue Laboratory, Health and Food Sciences Precinct, 39 Kessels Road, Coopers Plains, QLD 4108.
