How is Ivomec Pour-On applied?
- For best results, apply Ivomec cattle pour-on drench along the topline of the animal, in a narrow strip from the withers to the tailhead.
- The dosage rate is 1mL for each 10kg of liveweight.
- Ensure accuracy by weighing cattle using scales or a weighband prior to treatment, then dosing the mob based on the heaviest animal in each group.
- When there is a large variation in bodyweight within a group, draft cattle into two or more lines to avoid overdosing.
What are the withholding periods for Ivomec Pour-On for Cattle?
Ivomec Pour-On for Cattle carries a meat withholding period for cattle of 42 days. Do not administer this product to cows 28 days prior to calving, or during lactation when milk or milk products are intended for human consumption.
For red deer, Ivomec’s withholding period before slaughter is 35 days.
Does Ivomec Pour-On work on resistant cattle tick strains?
Yes. Ivomec Pour-On treatment is effective at controlling Boophilus microplus, including strains that are resistant to organophosphates, synthetic pyrethroids, and amidines. After treatment, maximum efficacy against cattle ticks is reached within approximately four to five days.Â
Engorged females that drop off shortly after treatment may still lay viable eggs, so always factor this into your tick management program.
How should Ivomec Pour-On for Cattle be stored?
Store it below 30°C and keep the bottle in its carton to protect from light. The formulation may become cloudy if stored below 0°C, but allowing it to return to room temperature restores normal appearance without affecting its efficacy.Â
Colour fading after brief light exposure does not indicate a loss of potency, but prolonged light exposure over weeks may reduce ivermectin activity.
Can I use Ivomec on pregnant or lactating cattle?
Ivomec has a wide safety margin and can be used in cattle of all ages, including pregnant and breeding animals, when used according to the product label.Â
Importantly, do not use Ivomec Ivermectin Pour-On 28 days before calving or during lactation where milk is for human consumption.
