Description

Ivomec Plus Broad Spectrum Antiparasitic Injection for Cattle

Active Ingredient: Clorsulon @ 100 mg/mL & Ivermectin @ 10 mg/mL

Similar or comparable to Virbamec Plus (Virbac), Baymec Gold & Bomectin F (Bayer), Vetmec F (Chemvet) & Noromectin Plus (Norbrook)

Ivomec Plus Injection For Cattle will treat and control internal parasites including gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms and eyeworms; adult liver fluke; and external parasites including sucking and biting lice, mites and cattle tick.

Why choose Ivomec Plus Injection For Cattle?
1. Control of internal parasites – Ivomec Plus Injection For Cattle controls internal parasites including adult liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica), gastrointestinal roundworms (including inhibited stages of Ostertagia), lungworm and eyeworm. It has sustained activity against Ostertagia spp and Cooperia spp (for up to 7 days) and Dictyocaulus viviparous (for up to 14 days) post treatment.
2. Control of external parasites – Ivomec Plus Injection For Cattle controls sucking lice and cattle tick and aids in the control of biting lice and mites.
3. Drench rotation option – The effective life of drenches can be extended by rotating drench families to slow the onset of drench resistance. Ivomec Plus Injection For Cattle offers an excellent alternative to triclabendazole drenches for adult liver fluke control.
4. Easy to use – Ivomec Plus Injection For Cattle has a free-flowing formulation that makes dosing cattle easy. It is available in 3 pack sizes including a 1L that is convenient for treating large numbers of animals.
5. Nil milk withhold – Ivomec Plus can be used on lactating dairy cattle, giving dairy farmers the flexibility to treat their animals at the optimal time.

How to use Ivomec Plus

  1. Administration

Ivomec Plus is applied under the skin, preferably high on the neck behind the ear, using standard injection equipment. Use the shortest needles possible (certainly not exceeding 15mm) and keep them sharp and clean. Dose the mob according the heaviest animal by bodyweight in each group (bulls, cows, steers, calves).  Where there is a large variation in size with the group, draft into two or more lines based on bodyweight. A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment. Do not underdose. Check accuracy of drenching equipment before and during treatment.

  1. Sterile application

Sterilise all injection apparatus by boiling (or equivalent) before use; avoid the use of strong disinfectants. Maintain cleanliness at all times and, as far as possible, avoid injection of animals during wet weather or under dusty conditions.

Cattle subcutaneous Injection Techniques

Cattle:

  • Administer under the skin into the neck region and preferable high up behind the ear.  Dose rate to be based on the heavier cattle in each group (bulls, cows, steers, calves etc).  Do not underdose. Treatment of very young animals (less than 40kg bodyweight) is generally not warranted.  When there is a large variation in size within the group, draft into two or more lines based on bodyweight, to avoid overdosing.
  • Do not underdose. Cattle should be weighed with either scales or with a weighband.
  • Do not use in cattle during lactation or less than 28 days before calving when milk or milk products are to be consumed for human consumption or processing.
  • To avoid tissue residues, take care to estimate the weights and dosages in young animals
  • Administer Ivomec Plus subcutaneously (SC) in cattle into the neck region, preferably high up behind the ear. As an alternative, anywhere on the neck away from valuable carcass muscle is suitable.

General Directions:

  • Worm parasites may develop resistance to any anthelmintic. If this is suspected please contact your local veterinary practitioner or advise the manufacturer.
  • Not to be used for any purpose or in any manner contrary to this label unless authorised under appropriate legislation.
  • Animals should be restrained to ensure that treatment can be properly administered. When the temperature of the injectable solution is below 5 c its viscosity increases and increased effort may be required for Injecting. Syringeability can be improved by gently warming the injecting equipment and product to 15 c.

Safety to Cattle:

  • Studies have demonstrated a wide margin of safety.
  • Pregnant and breeding cattle may be treated provided normal care is taken in handling.

Storage:

  • Store below 30°C (Room Temperature).
  • Store bottle in carton away from light.

Safety Directions:

  • Poisonous if swallowed.
  • Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing.

First Aid:

  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131126.
  • Additional information is listed in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
