Description

Baymec Gold Cattle InjectionBroad Spectrum Endectocide For Dairy And Beef Cattle

Active Ingredients: Ivermectin 10g/L & Clorsulon 100g/L

Similar or comparable to Ivomec Plus (Boehringer Ingelheim), Bomectin F (Elanco) & Genesis Ultra (Boehringer Ingelheim)

Baymec Gold Cattle Injection is a ready to use broad-spectrum endectocide injection for cattle containing Ivermectin and Clorsulon for the treatment and control of ivermectin and clorsulon sensitive strains of internal and external parasites of cattle, including adult liver flukes.

  • Ivermectin is a member of the macrocyclic lactone (ML) family, which binds and interferes with invertebrate nerve and muscle cells causing parasite paralysis and death. Ivermectin has a broad-spectrum activity against both adult and larval stages of parasite nematodes.
  • Clorsulon is a sulphonamide, which kills adult liver fluke by inhibiting their glycolytic pathway enzymes when ingested.

Liver fluke is an important parasite of cattle and is prevalent in high rainfall or irrigation areas of NSW, Victoria and Tasmania and small areas in Queensland and South Australia. Adult liver fluke causes damage to bile ducts and liver, resulting in blood loss, ill thrift and in some cases ‘Black Disease’. Strategic treatments such as with Baymec Gold can help reduce liver fluke populations and the production costs associated with their infection.

Baymec Gold is ideal for beef and dairy producers who prefer an injectable formulation for broad-spectrum parasite control.

Tips For Use

Caution: Avoid carcass damage

  • Sterilise all injection equipment by boiling (or equivalent) before use. Avoid use of strong disinfectants on apparatus
  • Maintain cleanliness at all times
  • Keep needles sharp and clean. Replace frequently.
  • Use the shortest needle possible, certainly not exceeding 15 mm
  • As far as possible avoid injection of animals during wet weather or under dusty conditions
  • This product should be injected only under the skin
  • If possible inject high on the neck behind the ear.

Injections should be given using 16- to 18-gauge needles, regardless of administration route. Needles (12-18mm) in length are suggested for SC injections.

Cattle:

  • Administer under the skin into the neck region and preferable high up behind the ear.
  • Dose rate to be based on the heavier cattle in each group (bulls, cows, steers, calves etc).
  • Do not underdose.
  • Treatment of very young animals (less than 40kg body weight) is generally not warranted.
  • When there is a large variation in size within the group, draft into two or more lines based on body weight, to avoid overdosing.
  • Do not underdose.
  • Cattle should be weighed with either scales or with a weigh band.
  • Do not use in cattle during lactation or less than 28 days before calving when milk or milk products are to be consumed for human consumption or processing.
  • To avoid tissue residues, take care to estimate the weights and dosages in young animals
  • Administer Bomectin F subcutaneously (SC) in cattle into the neck region, preferably high up behind the ear.
  • As an alternative, anywhere on the neck away from valuable carcass muscle is suitable.
