Description

Exifluke 240 Oral Flukicide For Cattle

Active Ingredient: Triclabendazole @ 240g/L

Similar or comparable to Fasinex 240 Oral Flukicide For Cattle (Elanco)

Exifluke 240 Oral Flukicide is for the treatment of triclabendazole-susceptible early immature, immature and mature liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica) in beef and dairy cattle.

Exifluke for cattle is ready to use, free-flowing aqueous suspension for the treatment and control of acute and chronic fascioliasis of cattle. Exifluke 240 contains triclabendazole, a member of the benzimidazole family of drenches. It is effective against triclabendazole sensitive strains of Fasciola hepatica (liver fluke). When used at the recommended rate of 2.5 ml per 50 kg bodyweight, Exifluke is highly effective against susceptible early immature fluke as well as immature and adult fluke.

The active ingredient in Exifluke 240 Oral Flukicide, Triclabendazole works by blocking the uptake of glucose, resulting in parasite starvation and death. Liver fluke is an important parasite of cattle and is prevalent in high rainfall or irrigation areas of NSW, Victoria and Tasmania and small areas in Queensland and South Australia. Liver fluke causes damage to bile ducts and liver, resulting in blood loss, ill thrift and in some cases ‘Black Disease’.

The powerful efficacy of Exifluke 240 Oral Flukicide against all stages of liver fluke makes it ideal within a strategic management program for liver fluke and will help to reduce production costs associated with infection. This efficacy against all three stages of liver fluke means it is effective against both acute and chronic infestations, accelerating the recovery of health and productivity. It is also very useful for strategic control of liver fluke in pastures.

Tips For Use

Dosing Accuracy

  • Weigh a representative sample of cattle with scales or a weighband before treatment.
  • Always dose to the heaviest animal in each group (bulls, cows, steers, calves).
  • Where cattle vary widely in size, draft them into two or more weight groups to avoid excessive overdosing.
  • Do not underdose — underdosing contributes to the development of drench resistance.

Administration

  • Shake the container well before use.
  • Use a 30mL oral applicator or 30mL Genesis Power Doser fitted with a floating hook.
  • Wash all dosing equipment with water after use.
  • Cattle over 690kg: continue to dose at 2.5mL per 50kg bodyweight.

Re-treatment and Resistance Management

  • Do not re-treat cattle within 56 days of the last treatment.
  • Resistance may develop to any drench. Consult your veterinarian or animal health adviser for a parasite management programme suited to your area.
  • Conduct a drench resistance test before use where resistance is suspected.

Use in Specific Animal Classes

  • Exifluke 240 may be used in calves, pregnant beef cattle, and weak or debilitated animals.
  • Do not use in lactating dairy cattle.
  • Do not use less than 21 days before calving.
