Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide (Fluazifop-p) FUSILADE Syngenta

Description

Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide

Active Ingredient: Fluazifop-p @ 128g/L

Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide is highly effective on grasses and rapidly absorbed by the plant. It’s selectively designed to control both annual and perennial grasses in various situations including crops, orchards, vegetables and also ornamental garden beds.

Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide is rapidly absorbed by leaves and green stems (is rainfast within one hour) and translocated throughout the plant. It accumulates at growing points, both above ground and in the roots, rhizomes and stolons of grass weeds. Weed growth and hence competition with the crop stops within 48 hours. The first symptoms are not evident for at least a week after application. Growing points turn brown and rot, shoot tips can be easily pulled out after 2 to 3 weeks. Young leaves turn yellow or redden soon after, but more mature leaves may remain green for extended periods.

Weed control is usually complete 3 to 5 weeks after spraying. If the treated area is to be grazed following application with Fusilade Forte, allow 7 days to elapse before introducing stock to ensure maximum weed control.

Fusilade Forte controls a large number of grasses in a wide range of situations.

Why choose Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide:

  • Proven performance over many years.
  • Compatible with a range of products, including Agral (Wetter 600)

Although Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide is registered for use in Ornamental Trees and Ornamental Gardens, there is no mention of its safety when used on conifer species. We suggest seeking clarification of this use from the manufacturer, Syngenta Australia, at 1800 022 035. Alternatively, a small trial patch could be sprayed to test tolerance or damage.

Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide is designed to selectively control both annual and perennial grasses, including crops, orchards, vegetables, and ornamental garden beds, in various situations. Unfortunately, the product label does not specify which ornamental plants it is safe to use on. Since I am only interested in removing couch grass from my garden beds with Iris, a wide variety of large succulents, apple trees and garden edges with bricks, etc, It's a problem if the Label on Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide doesn't specifically mention my plants by name? I would be willing to do a small area test, but paying over $150 to take a chance is beyond my means. Sadly... Is it possible for you to sell a smaller size of the herbicide? For example, 100 mls? Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide removes certain grasses (including couchgrass) from areas containing various broadleaf species. The label does not individually list every species the herbicide can safely be used on, as the testing and trialling before registration is not feasible. Hence, an off-label trial is the only way to test the product's suitability in your situation. Decanting pesticides and packaging them in containers not registered by the APVMA is illegal, and we cannot assist with this request. The smallest pack size Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide is registered for sale in, is a 1-Litre container. The manufacturer of Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide may be able to assist with a sample of the product. Syngenta Australia can be contacted on 1800 022 035.

Our interpretation of the product label is that if the crop does not come in contact with Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide, then the WHP should not apply. If the crop/trees/fruit comes in contact with the spray, then the WHP applies. Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide is absorbed by leaves and green stems and translocated throughout the plant. You should pay attention to avoid foliar contact with stone fruit trees (especially peaches and nectarines) for crop safety. Please get in touch with the manufacturer, Syngenta, at 1800 022 035 if you require further clarification.

Fusilade Forte 128EC is a selective herbicide that controls annual and perennial grasses in various situations, including crops, orchards, vegetables and ornamental garden beds. Neither watasonia nor scotch broom are classified as grasses. We recommend Sabakem Amitrole 47T Herbicide to control Watsonia and Grazon Extra, Woody Extra, Scrubba (Grazon DS), or Hatchet (Grazon DS) to control scotch broom. Part of the registration includes "potted and open-grown ornamental shrubs and trees" but does not list agapanthus. Using herbicides on species not listed on the product label is not recommended. An 'off-label' trial undertaken at your own risk may be a consideration. You should still take care to avoid spraying any non-target plants if possible. Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide is registered for use on ornamental broadleaf species to target certain grass varieties. However, Fusilade Forte's 'directions for use' does not advise or recommend applying turf to control Kikuyu. Buffalo is a broadleaf species, so you may want to consider an 'off-label' trial undertaken at your own risk in a discrete area. Another option would be DSMA which is safe for use in buffalo and will likely cause severe damage to Kikuyu.

Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide is registered for use on ornamental broadleaf species to target certain grass varieties. Providing the hedge is a broadleaf species, then it should be safe to use Fusilade. You must also check to see that the grasses being targeted are controlled by Fusilade Forte 128EC Herbicide for it to be effective. Refer to the products label for this information. The 'rough' conversion from boom spray to spot spray works out at a rate of 12mL - 17mL per 10L water. It is always prudent to trial or test the herbicide in an inconspicuous area before applying it extensively. This will allow you to assess its effectiveness and any potential adverse effects it may have on the desired plants or surrounding environment.

Pets may be at risk if they touch or eat plants that are still wet with spray from products containing Fluaziop-P.  The best practice in a domestic situation for pets is to remove them while the spray is wet, however, once it has dried then they are fine to return to the area.

Tips For Use

Tips for Use:

  • Fusilade Forte is rapidly absorbed by leaves and green stems (is rain fast within one hour) and trans-located throughout the plant.
  • Good spray coverage is essential for maximum results. Spray equipment must be checked and calibrated accurately prior to application.

Restraints:

  • Do not treat weeds that are not actively growing or are growing under stress. Under such conditions the biological processes of the weeds slow down and Fusilade Forte transport in the weed can be drastically reduced, resulting in an incomplete kill or suppression only of the weeds.
  • Do not allow annual grass weeds to reach the late tillering stage before application.
  • Do not apply at flowering stage of weeds.
  • Do not apply under conditions of high temperature, low humidity and where weeds are drought stressed.

Mixing:

  • Add the required amount of product directly to the spray tank which should be 50 to 75% full.
  • The agitation system should be running during mixing and spraying. If agitation ceases and settlement  occurs, agitate thoroughly before spraying.
  • The addition of an adjuvant is not necessary.

Time of Application:

  • To obtain the maximum benefits of this product, weeds should be sprayed when young and actively growing.
  • Grasses establishing from seed should be sprayed before tillering occurs.
  • Higher rates will be necessary once tillering commences.
  • For annual grass weeds, spraying must take place before the late tillering stage if a complete kill is desired.
  • Unless otherwise specified in the Critical Comments application may be made at any stage of crop growth but allowing sufficient time for the prescribed withholding period.

Method of Application:

  • Good spray coverage is essential for maximum results.
  • Spray equipment must be checked and calibrated accurately prior to application.

Stress Conditions:

  • Moisture stress is a particular problem, whether caused by drought or short term stresses, resulting from a combination of high temperatures and low humidity or by prior use of pre-emergence herbicides resulting in stunted root growth of weeds.
  • An irrigation or an effective rainfall must occur immediately before or after spraying if these conditions exist. Other stress situations to avoid include frost, waterlogging and extended cold conditions. Do not spray if any stress conditions are evident just prior to application

Storage:

  • Store in the closed, original container in a well-ventilated area, as cool as possible and away from children, animals, food, feedstuffs, seed and fertilisers.
  • Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.

Safety Directions:

  • May irritate the eyes and skin.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • When preparing spray and using the product wear elbow-length PVC gloves and face shield.
  • If product or spray on skin, immediately wash area with soap and water. After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water.
  • After each day’s use wash gloves, face shield and contaminated clothing.

First Aid:

  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126. If in eyes, hold eyes open flood with water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor.
  • If additional hazard information is required refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
