Surefire Spectrum 200 SC Insecticide & Termiticide
Active Ingredient: Imidacloprid @ 200g/L
Surefire Spectrum 200SC Insecticide is a Systemic insecticide that targets sucking insects and is soft on non-target insects such as ladybirds, hoverflies, spiders and predatory mites.
- Spectrum 200SC Insecticide is used in the control of aphids, mirids and brown flea beetle on cotton; green peach aphid, woolly aphid, grey cabbage aphid and turnip aphids on crops specified in the directions for use table; and for the control of some insect pests of ornamentals.
- Spectrum 200SC is registered for use in the control of all species of subterranean termites (including Mastotermes darwiniensis) in both new and existing buildings. Spectrum kills termites on contact.
- Spectrum 200SC Insecticide controls aphids, azalea lace bugs, Silverleaf whitefly, thrips, longtailed mealybug, hibiscus flower beetle, harlequin bug, bronze orange bug, Fuller’s rose weevil, psyllids & soft scale on ornamentals, roses and various fruit trees and vegetables. Systemic action – absorbed through the foliage and moves throughout the plant to control insect pests – Works from the inside out.
How It Works:
Surefire Spectrum 200 SC is a concentrated systemic insecticide that targets sucking insects. Systemic insecticides are soluble enough in the water that they can be absorbed by a plant and moved around in its tissues. The Imidacloprid is absorbed through the foliage and moves throughout the plant to control insect pests. Imidacloprid 200SC can be applied via various application methods including Foliar Spray, Soil Drench & Stem Injection (refer to label).
As a Termiticide:
Surefire Spectrum 200 SC is a non-repellent application that binds readily to the soil. It can’t be detected by the termites, greatly assisting with colony control & elimination and is easily applied with your existing treatment equipment.
Surefire Spectrum 200SC is unbeatable value when compared to other non-repellent termiticides & other liquid termiticides.
Surefire Spectrum 200SC Insecticide is registered for 5 years of protection.
As an Insecticide:
Surefire Spectrum 200 SC provides systemic control of a broad range of insect pests, acropetally distributed and featuring a water-based 200g/L Imidacloprid formulation, in the following areas;
- Turf
- Ornamentals
- Shrubs & Trees
- Crops & Vegetables
- Subterranean Termites
Turf:
In turf, Surefire Spectrum 200 SC controls
- the first instar larvae of African black beetle
- Argentinian scarab
- Pruinose scarab
It has extended residual activity in the soil, allowing flexibility in application timing, with a single application giving season-long control. Surefire Spectrum, when incorporated with PCT’s Surefire Fivestar Insecticide ( Bifenthrin ), will control all stages of an insect’s life cycle. An insecticide application combining these two products will control the current population and the residual nature of these products will prevent further insect infestations.
Ornamentals:
Surefire Spectrum 200 SC controls a broad range of sucking & chewing insects, including
Aphids | Hibiscus Flower Beetle |
Azalea Lace Bug | Mealybug |
Bronze Orange Bug | Psyllids |
Curl Grubs | Soft Scales |
Fuller’s Rose Beetle | Thrips |
Harlequin Bug | Whitefly |
Spectrum is systemic in action; it keeps working for weeks after treatment, effectively immunizing plants against the target pests if they return. It is soft on non-target insects such as ladybirds, spiders, & soil micro-organisms.
Shrubs & Trees:
In shrubs and trees, Spectrum treats
- Elm Leaf Beetle in Elm Trees
- Flatid (Jamella Australiae) in Pandanus Trees
- Chrysomelid Beetle Larvae & Psyllids in Rucalyptus seedlings
& is useful for the control of various insects in shrubs.
Crops & Vegetables:
Spectrum is effective for the control of
- Green Peach Aphid
- Woolly Aphid
- Grey Cabbage Aphid
- Turnip Aphid
on various crops as well as aphids, mirids & brown flea beetle on cotton. It is effective in the control of sucking pests on stone fruit, apples, cucurbits, capsicum, eggplant, potatoes, sweet potatoes, brassicas & cucumber.
Subterranean Termites:
Surefire Spectrum 200 SC is registered for use in the control of all species of subterranean termites ( including mastotermes darwiniensis) in new and existing buildings.

I have had lawn grub and beetle issues for years and have not had long term success with products available at the local hardware, they did work for a while though. I sprayed spectrum 200 and the result is a lawn that isn’t chewed to pieces, and is staying that way longer than the other products I had used, this is systemic and I was never able to find that where is was shopping before. I am also seeing less signs in the soil of where beetles have been imerging, almost to the point of none, and crickets have gone silent in the garden bed as well. Really happy with the result. I am not able to make comment about whiteants yet, how ever I am confident they will be taken care of , as stated on the pack.

I originally purchased a 250ml bottle to experiment on common brown scale in a greenhouse situation after trying many other products including Bifenthrin. This product is much more effective over all the others as the results showed very quickly. I might also add that i purchased a 5 litre container from Specialist Sales online on a Sunday night using PayPal and it was on my doorstep the following Wednesday morning.

I continue to use this for all round protection from sucking /leaf eating insects.
Careful attention to the time of application reduces any impact on desirable insects.

A bit too early to tell but I’ve sprayed young
eucalypts with it about 7 days ago and the
pests seem to have left. I had been using
contact chemicals, so I need to wait a week or two to be sure it’s the imidacloprid doing the work.

Surefire Spectrum 200SC is applied as a thorough cover spray of the succulent at the first sign of insect infestation. Repeat applications may be required approx 2 weeks apart or as necessary. The mixing rate is 2.5mL per 10L Water.

Surefire Spectrum 200SC is only registered to control aphids on roses. It is registered to control Greenhouse Thrips on ornamental plants and Melon Thrips on Eggplant so it might be worth a try in your situation. Spectrum 200SC can be used as a soil drench on roses to control aphids @ 3.5mL per 2L Water per rose plant. The mixture is poured evenly around the drip zone (ie soil below the leaf area). Use this rate for plants up to 1m high. For each additional metre of plant height, add 2mL extra Spectrum Insecticide to the 2L of water. To apply Spectrum 200SC as a spray to roses mix 2.5mL per 10L water and apply as a thorough cover spray at the first sign of insect infestation.

Question
Margaret J Healey
Would spectrum be good for spider mites on desert roses.
Upvote if this was helpful (0) Downvote if this was not helpful (0) Watch Unwatch Flag for removal
specialistsales
Spectrum 200SC Insecticide is not registered or recommended to control mites. We would suggest looking at a specific Miticide such as Stealth Miticide which is registered to control Carmine Mite (Spider) in ornamental plants. Stealth has many mites listed on the list of pests it controls, including Tea Red Spider Mite and Red Spider Mite.

Question

To saturate the ground under citrus. What proportions of insecticide to water per tree?
Upvote if this was helpful (0) Downvote if this was not helpful (0) Watch Unwatch Flag for removal
specialistsales
Surefire Spectrum is registered for use as a cover spray for controlling pests in Citrus Trees @ 25mL per 100L Water. If you wanted to try a soil drench then I would suggest a similar rate as used for Elm Trees. This is a rate of 7mL Spectrum for every 25mm of tree diameter (measured at chest height). Total water required depends on the diameter of the tree;
50L Water per tree with a diameter up to 400-500mm & 100L per tree for larger trees.
