Trimac GR Granular Herbicide

Trimac GR Granular Herbicide is a unique granular formulation applied as a dry application to the soil for long-term residual weed control. Trimac GR Herbicide contains Terbacil and Sulfomeuron Methyl, which form a residual barrier in the soil to control a large range of both annual and perennial weeds as they germinate. Trimac GR Granular Herbicide reduces the need for continual applications of glyphosate after each germination, saving labour and time.

Trimac GR Granular Herbicide does not require water and is simple and easy to use. Drift hazards are minimised, and the application rate can be quicky and easily varied depending on the residual control required. It is ideal for inaccessible areas.

Active Ingredients: Terbacil @ 44g/kg & Sulfometuron-Methyl @ 2g/kg

  • Prickly Paddy Melon (Cucumis nyrucarpus)
  • White Clover (Trifolium repens)
  • Windmill Grass (Chloris truncate)

Trimac GR Granular Herbicide is a unique granular formulation that is applied as a dry application to the soil by a calibrated granule applicator. The application rate varies from 200gm-300gm per 100m2. The best results are achieved when the granules are applied to bare soil. A lower rate can be used when treating areas with minimal growth, and a higher rate will achieve longer residual control. Trimac GR needs moist soils for incorporation. The best results are achieved by applying to moist soil.

Trimac GR Granular Herbicide contains Terbacil and Sulfometuron-methyl.

Terbacil is a triazine herbicide that works by inhibiting photosynthesis in plants. It is typically applied pre-emergence before weeds germinate. However, it can also be applied post-emergence to control established weeds. Terbacil has a long period of activity, providing, in certain situations, up to 12 months of weed control. It is effective against many broadleaf weeds, including annuals and perennials.

Sulfometuron-methyl is a sulfonylurea herbicide that works by inhibiting cell division in plants. It is typically applied pre-emergence before weeds germinate. However, it can also be applied post-emergence to control established weeds. Sulfometuron-methyl offers the following benefits;

  • Broad spectrum control: Sulfometuron-methyl is effective against a wide range of broadleaf weeds, including annuals, perennials, and woody weeds.
  • Long residual activity: Sulfometuron-methyl can provide up to 12 months of weed control in certain situations, depending on soil type and environmental conditions.
  • Low application rates: Sulfometuron-methyl is effective at very low application rates, making it a cost-effective herbicide.
  • Selectivity: Sulfometuron-methyl is selective to broadleaf weeds.
  • Low volatility: Sulfometuron-methyl is a low-volatile herbicide, which means that it is less likely to drift off-site and damage non-target plants.

Tips For Use

General Instructions:

  • This product is a granular formulation that does not need to be mixed in water. It is an effective residual herbicide.
  • For best residual control, apply during periods of active plant growth. Application when vegetation is dormant, semi-dormant or under moisture stress may not be as effective.
  • In temperate winter rainfall areas where temperatures are generally below 25oC during the period of active growth, the overall effect may be slow to appear. For best control of perennials, apply during spring months in these areas. In WA and SA, apply during April-August or when adequate rainfall is expected.
  • Sufficient moisture is required after treatment to promote root absorption by the weed species.
  • Results obtained may vary with rainfall, soil types and other conditions.
  • Do not apply Trimac GR Granular Herbicide before (within 48 hours) or during periods of intense rainfall, when wind speed exceeds 30 kph (for ground application) or under conditions that will cause granule movement to non-target areas.
  • Trimac GR Herbicide can affect desirable plants if not correctly applied. Follow the instructions given.
  • This product can be safely used within the root zone of established (12 months) Eucalyptus spp. & Corymbia spp See tree tolerance.
  • When applying to fence lines, it should be noted that some desirable species may be damaged or controlled where their root systems extend into the area treated. It is advisable to notify and consult with neighbours before treating boundary fences.
  • When applying this product to yards and gravel areas, leave a 1m buffer on the boundaries to avoid damage.
  • Use the lower rate when applying this with a broad application or as a spot or strip treatment to hard/compacted surfaces and to roadsides where run-off is likely to occur into sensitive areas.
  • As soil organic matter increases, the rate of herbicide breakdown increases. Thus, the longest residual control is obtained in soils with low organic matter.
  • Use lower rates in soils with low organic matter.
  • Band apply or strip apply in soils low in organic matter.
  • Apply a 5m buffer to areas where a surface flow of water could wash the chemical into drains.
  • Only apply Trimac GR to fence lines where some damage to adjacent pasture species is acceptable.
  • As Trimac GR needs moist soils for incorporation, the best results are achieved by applying to moist soil. Avoid waterlogged or soils near saturation.
  • Avoid application in extreme/extended dry periods before intense rainfall adjacent to sensitive areas, as surface runoff may occur.
  • Do not drain or flush equipment on or near desirable trees or other plants or on areas where their roots may extend. As guidance, this is twice their height or more, depending on the species and other conditions.
  • Do not apply to foliage or use on eroded areas where sub-soil or tree roots are exposed, as injury to trees may result.
  • Do not apply under meteorological conditions or from equipment that could be expected to cause drift of this product or spray mix into adjacent areas, particularly wetlands, water bodies or water courses.
  • Do not apply under weather conditions or from application equipment that may cause spray to drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands or pastures. See Tree tolerance.
  • Do not apply in intense rainfall.
  • For further information, contact Your nearest Macspred representative.
  • If required, Establish spray buffer zones. Review State regulations and statutory requirements. E.g. General Buffers 20 m- Permanent Streams 10 m, Temporary Stream and Drainage Line 10 m.
  • Do not empty equipment in the above situations.

Tree Tolerance:

  • Field trials and use experience have indicated that the major forestry tree species (12 months old) are tolerant to Trimac GR when applied at label rates.
  • For further tree tolerance, it is recommended to conduct a small-scale tolerance test.

Application and Equipment:

  • Use a calibrated granule applicator for broadcast or strip application.
  • For spot application, use a Weed-A-Meter applicator

Registrants:

  • Do not apply to waterlogged soils.
  • Do not apply if heavy rains or storms that are likely to cause runoff are forecast within 48 hours of Application.
  • Do not apply where the slope exceeds 30%.
  • Do not use in irrigation channels or in drains, including roadside ditches and table drains.
  • Do not use on leached, sandy soils low in organic matter.

Protection of Crops, Native and Other Non-Target Plants;
Do not allow granules to contact or drift onto plants that you do not want to be killed.
Do not apply on or near desirable vegetation or on areas where their roots may extend.

Protection of wildlife, fish, crustaceans and environment;

  • Very toxic to aquatic life.
  • Do not contaminate wetlands or water courses with this product or used containers.

Protection of livestock;
Keep stock away from treated areas.

Storage:

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area.
  • Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight.

Safety Directions:

  • It will damage the eyes, nose, throat and skin.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • Do not inhale dust.
  • When handling granules, wear elbow-length PVC gloves, goggles and a disposable dust mask.
  • If the product is in the eyes, wash it out immediately with water.
  • Wash hands after use.
  • After each day’s use, wash gloves and goggles.
