It combines specific food-based attractants which target only fruit flies and a bacteria-derived insecticide called spinosad. Fruit flies eat the bait and are killed by the organic insecticide.
Eco-Naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate is applied as a spot spray in 30cm patches around the foliage of plants. There is no need to cover the whole tree or all the fruit. Eco-Naturalure must be applied weekly and after rain.
It is very important to start protecting fruit early in the season. The aim is to kill the fruit flies before they sting the fruit and to prevent population numbers exploding later in the season. It is recommended to apply eco-naturalure from petal drop as flies have been shown to sting green fruit as small as a marble.

Dilute as above or use a concentrate spray by mixing 1 part of eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate with 1.5 parts of water and apply as a spot spray
Important Note:Â
Avoid spraying the fruit as phytotoxicity may occur.Â
Mangoes and pears are particularly susceptible to blemishes, discolouration or severe spotting (superficial on tile skin only) from protein-based baits.Â
The risk of Phytotoxicity is increased during hot, dry conditions and with reapplication of spray to the same location on the plants.Â
If using a weekly spray program, alternate tree or crop rows to which the product is applied. Re-apply if rain washes off the foliage.
Application:
Begin applications as soon as monitoring traps indicate that flies are present and fruit Is at a susceptible stage.Â
Repeat applications every 7 days, re-applying sooner If rain washes off the deposit.Â
A large spray droplet size of 4000 to 6000 microns (4-6 mm) is recommended to optimise the duration of bait’s attractiveness to flies.Â
Apply as either a band or spot spray to the lower canopy of fruiting plants as follows:
Band Sprays (concentrated or dilute solution)
Apply as a coarse spray in a 1m wide band to the skirt of trees.Â
Apply to one side of every row or every second row of trees.
Spot Sprays Of The Concentrate Solution
Apply to trees and foliage as coarse spots of 20 ml per spot of 1m2.Â
Apply 125 spots per hectare.
Spot Sprays Of The Dilute Solution
Apply to trees and foliage as coarse spots of 50 ml per spot of 1 m2.Â
Apply 150 spots per hectare.
Spots should be distributed evenly throughout an orchard to optimize effectiveness. Adjust the application of the spots to suit the number of trees per hectare, but do not exceed the application rate above.

Tips For Use
General Instructions:
Eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate is a protein and sugar based bait containing the active
Ingredient spinosad.
Once applied, fruit flies can detect the bait from several metres away.
Eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate can be diluted with water to produce either a concentrated or a dilute solution.
Use the concentrated solution if application equipment will allow, as this will maximise bait longevity and improve rain fastness.
If necessary, remove filters and strainers from spraying equipment to avoid blockages.
Note: Baiting for fruit fly control should be supplemented with good orchard management
practices such as removal of fallen and/or rotting fruit
How To Prepare:
The bait solution should be applied using a hand sprayer with the nozzle set to produce large spray droplets.
Once applied, fruit flies can detect the bait from several metres away.
Avoid spraying sensitive fruit, mangoes and pears are particularly susceptible to burn.
Non-foliar baiting can be used for sensitive crops or where there is insufficient foliage for foliar spray treatments.
Do not mix more than is needed and do not hold over diluted spray from day to day.
Rinse sprayer with water after use.
For best results pick fruit as it ripens.
Keep the area clean by removing any fallen or rotting fruit and disposing in garbage.
Mixing:
Once mixed, constant agitation of the spray solution is recommended to ensure uniformity of the spray mixture.
Allow the agitation system to operate for at least 5 minutes before applying.
Once diluted, the solution should be used within 24 hours.
Concentrated Solution:
Mix 1 part of eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate with 1.5 parts of water.
First add water (equivalent to one half of the eco-naturalure Fruit Fly BaH Concentrate to be mixed) to the spray tank and start the agitation system.
Then add the full amount of eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate followed by an equal amount of water.
Dilute Solution:
Mix 1 part of Eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate with 6.5 parts of water.
First add water (equivalent to the volume of eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate to be mixed) to the spray tank or premixing tank and start the agitation system.
Then add the full amount of Eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait concentrate followed by the remaining amount of water.
Protection Of Non-Target Insects:
Beneficial insects contribute to control of pest outbreaks.
Applications of Eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate are unlikely to affect lacewings (Chrysopa spp.), predatory bugs (Geocoris, Onus and Nabisspp.), spiders and most species of ladybird beetles (Coccinella, Diomus, and Harmonia spp.).
However some species of beneficial insects may be sensitive to Eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate and its use may temporarily reduce populations of parasitoid wasps (especially Trichogramma spp.), and some beetles and tachinid flies.
This may lead to some disruption of IPM systems based on these species, but generally populations will recover.
Protection Of Livestock:
Dangerous to bees.
Avoid direct application or drift of the spray mix onto beehives.
Do not spray on plants in flower if bees are active.
Once the spray deposit has dried.
Foraging bees will not be affected.
Storage:
Keep out of reach of children
Store in the closed, original container in a cool, dry place out of reach of children.
Do not store in direct sunlight.
Safety Directions:
Will irritate the eyes.
Avoid contact with eyes.
Wash hands after use.
Eco-naturalure Fruit Fly Bait Concentrate contains proteins from a plant extract to which some people may be allergic. If you are concerned about a potential allergic response, it is advisable to wear gloves and/or some lace protection such as a dust mask when mixing or using the product.
