Situation:

Outside: Abattoirs, animal housing, garbage containers, food processing plants and other industrial and commercial areas.
Around: Industrial sites, feedlot manure heaps, garbage dumps.

Pest: Adult houseflies (Musca domestica) and lesser houseflies (Fannia canicularis)

Rate: 2.0 g/m2 (Scatter Application)

Critical Comments:

Scatter application: The bait should be scattered (do not put in piles onto dry level surfaces (eg. Pathways, window ledges or in shallow dishes). Avoid extremely dusty areas.

Bait station application: Set up bait stations by sprinkling into shallow tins, lids or similar containers and places where flies congregate. Position bait stations out of reach of animals or livestock and away from feed troughs, storage or mixing areas.

Wet bait: In many situations, more flies can be attracted to moist bait. This can be achieved by sprinkling bait on moist hessian sacks (placed out of reach of all livestock) or by lightly moistening bait with a light spray of water.

Paint-on application: To prepare a paste for painting, mix 50 g of Surefire Flystar with 37.5 mL of water. 15 minutes after mixing the paste can be applied with a brush to spots where flies rest (e.g. walls, joists, window ledges, stable fixtures). Additionally, it can be painted onto hessian bags or sheets of cardboard or fabric which are hung in areas frequented by flies. After use, the brush can be cleaned with warm water.

Re-baiting: Re-baiting may be necessary in 3-5 days depending on exposure, weather and density of fly populations.

General Instructions:

Surefire Flystar Bait can be applied in many locations.
Avoid cool or windy locations because flies prefer warm sites for resting.
For best results time applications to begin at the start of the season before fly populations have reached their peak.
Fly control should be considered part of an integrated strategy which incorporates good sanitation, appropriate management of breeding sites (eg manure and other decaying organic matter) and exclusion measures for preventing access of flies into internal areas.
Note: This product is not attractive to all species of flies and control of non-target species may require other means of control.

Restraint:

Do not place bait in areas accessible to food producing animals or pets.

Precautions:

Do not allow contact with raw or processed food, utensils or packaging.

Protection of Wildlife, Fish, Crustaceans and Environment:

Do not place baits in locations accessible to domestic animals, livestock or birds.
Do not contaminate streams, rivers or waterways with the chemical or used containers.
Do not scatter bait on manure heaps or dispose of treated sacks/cardboard/fabric with manure.
Clean up spillage promptly.
Very highly toxic to bees.

Storage:

Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight.

Safety Directions:

Will irritate the eyes.
Avoid contact with the eyes.
When using the product wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing) and rubber gloves and goggles.
If product in eyes, wash it out immediately with water.
Wash hands after use.
After each days use, wash gloves, goggles and contaminated clothing.
