Wetter 1000 (Non-Ionic Alkoxylated Alcohol) WETTER-1000 Conquest Crop Protection

Description

Wetter 1000

Active Ingredient: Non-Ionic Alkoxylated Alcohol @ 1000g/L

Similar or Comparable to: Chemwet 1000 (Nufarm), BS 1000 (CropCare) & Wetter 1000 Surfactant (Alphakem)

Wetter 1000 is a non-ionic 100% wetting agent for the improvement of spray coverage when using agricultural chemicals.

Wetters/spreaders enhance the spreading and adhesion of spray droplets over target surfaces by reducing the surface tension of the herbicide formulation.  Wetters include non-ionic surfactants, which are non-reactive in that they are not negatively or positively charged. They remain on the leaf once dry and allow rewetting after rain, permitting additional pesticide uptake.

  • Wetter 1000 can be used where the addition of a surfactant is required or recommended on the agricultural chemical label.
  • Wetter 1000 is a spray additive suitable for herbicides and is suitable for use with all types of water in high and low-volume spraying.
  • Wetter 1000 increases wetting and spray coverage. It can be used with acid and alkaline sprays.

A wetting agent is an additive that is intended to improve the effectiveness of a herbicide.  Some herbicides require no additional adjuvants to perform well, but some perform better with adjuvants, and this is usually detailed on the product label.  Many adjuvants have been developed to help herbicides cover, stick to and penetrate the leaves of target plants.

What is the main difference between detergent and wetting agents?

Detergents are surfactants; however, they are formulated to be used as a cleaning solution. Therefore, they do not force the chemical into the plant and will not benefit the herbicide to be more effective.  Detergents look as though they are effective as they foam up and leave an oily residue on the plant’s surface, but that is the extent of it.

Wetting agents like Wetter 1000 are chemical substances that have been produced specifically to increase the spreading and penetrating properties of a liquid by lowering the surface tension, that is, the tendency of its molecules to adhere to each other.

When used according to the direction of use, wetting agents (Wetter 1000) or surfactants maximize spray application by wetting and sticking the herbicide to the plant by lowering the surface tension of the spray droplet.  Some also assist in penetrating the plant by forcing the active ingredient deep inside the weed tissue, where it is translocated to the root system. This is what separates non-ionic wetting agents (Wetter 1000) from simple washing detergent and improves the efficacy of your herbicide, creating a greater success rate in eradicating the weed.

A wetting agent (Wetter 1000) or surfactant ‘wet’ the plant foliage rather than simply beading up and dripping off the plant’s surface, ensuring a better result from the herbicides and insecticides you use and spend your money. This is particularly important when plants have waxy or hairy foliage. Breaking down the surface tension of the spray droplet allows the chemical to penetrate the foliage and kill the weed or pest.

Eradicating weeds is labour-intensive and can be expensive, so you want to ensure you do it right the first time.

Directions Of Use

Click here for directions for use label:

For General Insecticides, Herbicides & Fungicides:

  • High Volume Power Spray – 100mL per 100L Water
  • Low Volume Boom Spray – 40mL per 100L Water
  • Misting Machine – 5mL per 5L
  • Knapsack – 2mL per 15L

Always Consult the pesticide label for exact application rates

Contact Herbicides (ie Paraquat):

  • High Volume Power Spray and Boom Spray – 120mL per 100L
  • Knapsack – 20mL per 15L

Spray until stems & leaves are wet.  These higher rates ensure the plants are thoroughly wet.

For Selective Herbicides:

  • (ie “Dims & Fops”) – 200 – 250mL per 100L

Using Wetter 1000 outside pesticide label directions may reduce selectivity. Do not add wetter 1000 when mixing diclofop with a broadleaf herbicide.

Soil Residual Herbicides:

  • Ie Diuron – 100mL – 400mL per 100L Water

See pesticide label for exact rates

Pasture Topping:

  • For use with Glyphosate – 125mL per 100L Water

Watering of Turf and Dust Abatement:

  • As additive to water – 40mL – 100mL per 100L Water

Use the higher rate when watering turf

Fire Fighting:

  • Water Tanker – 5mL per 100L Water
  • Knapsack – 2mL per 15L Water

Wetter 1000 has the advantage of less weight to carry compared with less concentrated surfactants and being non-flammable. It increases the wetting power of water which assists in quick control and mopping up of fires.  It is of particular value where water may not be readily available, where a less drenching spray is needed and a tank full will cover a larger area.

Rates are a general guide only. Before opening, carefully read directions for use, precautionary and protection statements, storage and disposal, safety directions and first aid instructions.
