Description

Knockout 450 Herbicide

Active Ingredient: Glyphosate Present As The Isopropylamine Salt @ 450g/L

Similar Or Comparable To Roundup Ct  (Monsanto) & Musta Glyphosate 450 Herbicide (Ozcrop)

Knockout 450 Concentrate Herbicide is a non-selective herbicide that will kill most emerged weeds and plants in situations as indicated in the directions for use.

  • Knockout 450 Concentrate Herbicide is a water-soluble, non-residual glyphosate herbicide for non-selective control of many annual and perennial weeds in various situations.
  • Knockout 450 is effective against almost all weed species and rapidly breaks down to natural products in the environment. It has very low toxicity to humans and animals.
  • Knockout 450 Concentrate Herbicide is used for general weed control in Domestic areas (Home Gardens), Commercial, Industrial and Public Service areas, Agricultural buildings and other farm situations. For specific weeds, brush and woody weeds or unwanted trees, refer to the appropriate Weeds Controlled table listed in the directions for use
  • Knockout 450 provides a non-residual, full knock-down impact to virtually all weed species and breaks down to natural products in the environment. It can be tank-mixed with a range of other products and is compatible with certain residual herbicides for extended control of annual weeds.
  • Knockout 450 Concentrate Herbicide belongs to a group of herbicides called glycines. Knockout 450 acts on the enzyme pathway and works by inhibiting the production of three essential amino acids that are unique to plant life.

Knockout 450 is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems. It is inactivated in the soil and does not provide residual weed control.  Knockout 450 moves through the plant from the point of contact to and into the root system. Initial visible effects on annual weeds take 3-7 days but may not be noticeable for 2 to 3 weeks under cool cloudy conditions or on some perennial weeds.

    Answered by the admin

Once a glyphosate concentrate herbicide is mixed with water, it should be used within 24 hours for best results. After this time, the mixture's effectiveness 'may' start to decrease, and the herbicide 'may' become less potent. To the best of our knowledge, no additives can be added to the pre-mixed solutions that extend their shelf life.

There is  an Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority permit PER11463 registering the use of glyphosate on bamboo as a cut stump method.  Rate of application is 1L per 6L water (Glyphosate 360g/L) - cut stems back to 20cm high and immediately pour herbicide the hollow stem and wet the cut.  Flupropanate is also registered under permit to control bamboo, however is currently unavailable.

Tips For Use

General Instructions:

  • Knockout 450 is a non-volatile, non selective, water soluble liquid herbicide with non-selective herbicidal activity. It is absorbed by plant foliage and green stems and moves through the plant from the point of contact to and into the root system. Effects may not be apparent for 3-7 days (annual weeds) or 2 – 3 weeks (perennial weeds) or longer under cool, cloudy conditions.
  • Knockout 450 will control emerged weeds only, and provides no residual weed control. Apply treatments to weeds which have at least one true leaf (broadleaf weeds) or two leaves (grasses) to provide an adequate surface area for herbicide uptake.
  • Knockout 450 may be used prior to sowing any crop (edible or non edible) but not prior to transplanting tomato seedlings.
  • A withholding period for grazing stock is not required. However, it is recommended that grazing of treated plants be delayed for one day after treatment of annual weeds, or 7 days of perennial weeds are present, to ensure absorption of Knockout 450 . Certain plants (eg. Soursob, variegated thistle) may be naturally toxic to stock. Where known toxic plants are present, do not allow stock to graze until complete browning of treated plants has occurred.
  • Weeds should be actively growing at the time of treatment. Do not treat weeds under poor growing or dormant conditions (such as occur in drought, water logging, disease, insect damage or following frosts) as reduced weed control may result. Reduced results may also occur when treating weeds heavily covered with dust or silt. Prior herbicide application may also induce stress in weeds.
  • Rainfall occurring up to 6 hours after application may reduce effectiveness. Heavy rainfall within 2 hours after application may wash the chemical off the foliage and a repeat treatment may be required. Delay treatment of plants wet with dew or rain, if water droplets run off when plants are disturbed.
  • Avoid contact with foliage, green stems or fruit of crops, desirable plants and trees, since severe injury or destruction may result.

First Aid:

  • If poisoning occurs contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.
  • For further information, refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

Withholding Period

Withholding Period Details (WHP):

  • Not required when used as directed.
  • A withholding period for grazing stock is not required.  However, it is recommended that grazing of treated plants be delayed for one day after treatment of annual weeds, or 7 days of perennial weeds are present, to ensure absorption of Knockout 450.  Certain plants (eg. Soursob, variegated thistle) may be naturally toxic to stock. Where known toxic plants are present, do not allow stock to graze until complete browning of treated plants has occurred.
