Description

WSD Fly Strike Powder – Control Flystrike and for use in Wound Dressing for Animals

Active Ingredients: Piperonyl Butoxide @ 0.8g/kg, Diazinon @ 15g/kg & Pyrethrin @ 1g/kg

WSD Fly Strike Powder is for the control of flystrike, general wound dressing and for use after marking, mulesing and dehorning in cattle, goats, pigs & sheep. WSD Fly Strike Powder is a ready-to-use powder for topical application to struck areas or as a wound dressing.

WSD Fly Strike Powder contains Piperonyl Butoxide, Diazinon & Pyrethrin;

Piperonyl Butoxide (PBO) is commonly used in animal husbandry as a synergist in combination with insecticides or parasiticides. Its primary purpose is to enhance the effectiveness of these products by inhibiting the detoxification mechanisms of insects and parasites. By inhibiting their ability to metabolize or break down the active ingredients in the insecticides, PBO increases their potency and improves their ability to control pests.

Diazinon is an organophosphate insecticide that has historically been used in animal husbandry to control various external parasites in livestock. When applied as directed, Diazinon effectively targets and kills these external parasites, reducing the risk of disease transmission, discomfort, and negative effects on animal health and productivity.

Pyrethrin is a natural insecticide derived from chrysanthemum flowers. It is commonly used in animal husbandry to control various external parasites that infest livestock. Pyrethrin is effective against pests such as ticks, fleas, lice, mites, and flies. In animal husbandry, Pyrethrin is typically applied directly to the animal or its surroundings. It targets the parasites’ nervous system, leading to their paralysis and eventual death. Pyrethrin has a relatively low toxicity to mammals, making it a preferred choice in situations where the safety of the treated animals is a concern. Pyrethrin is also favoured for its quick knockdown effect on insects, providing rapid relief from pest infestations. It is considered a broad-spectrum insecticide, meaning it can control a wide range of pests.
