CyrexPS Liquid Sheep Blowfly and Lice Treatment CYREX Elanco

Description

CyrexPS Liquid Sheep Blowfly and Lice Treatment

Active Ingredients: Spinosad @ 12.5g/L & Cyromazine @ 500g/L

CyrexPS Liquid is a dual-active jetting fluid and blowfly strike dressing that prevents blowfly strike, treats existing strike and controls lice on sheep with long wool. This unique formulation combines spinosad and cyromazine, two established active ingredients with different modes of action for potent knockdown and residual control of maggots and lice.

CyrexPS Liquid Sheep Blowfly and Lice Treatment contains Spinosad @ 12.5 g/L and Cyromazine @ 500 g/L.

It is registered for;

  • The control of Spinosad-susceptible strains of lice (Bovicola ovis) for 8–11 weeks on sheep with long wool.
  • The protection of long wool sheep for up to 14 weeks from strike by the cyromazine-susceptible strain of blowfly (Lucilia cuprina), including organophosphate-resistant strains, when applied by jetting.
  • The treatment of blowfly strike in sheep.

Why is the unique formulation of Spinosad and Cyromazine used in CyrexPS so effective for blowfly strike and lice control on sheep?

  • Spinosad (used in Extinosad Eliminator) provides knockdown control of flies, maggots and lice. Extinosad Eliminator remains the benchmark for knockdown control of maggots, flies and lice with maximum flexibility.
    • Spinosad belongs to the spinosyn chemical family.
    • Upon contact or ingestion, spinosad causes involuntary and prolonged tremors in the nervous system of target parasites, leading to irreversible paralysis and death.
    • Spinosad provides knockdown control of adult and nymph lice.
  • Cyromazine (used in Vetrazin Liquid) provides residual protection against blowfly strike. Vetrazin Liquid has been a trusted jetting solution for long-lasting protection against blowfly strike in sheep for more than 40 years.
    • Cyromazine is an insect growth regulator.
    • It interrupts the lifecycle of blowflies by preventing first-stage larvae from moulting into damaging second-stage maggots or maturing into adult flies.
    • Cyromazine prevents 1st stage larvae from moulting into damaging 2nd stage maggots and provides long-lasting residual activity.

Why choose CyrexPS Liquid Sheep Blowfly and Lice Treatment?

  • A unique formulation containing Spinosad @ 12.5 g/L and Cyromazine @ 500 g/L.
  • Two unrelated modes of action (spinosyn + IGR).
  • Two established active ingredients for blowfly strike prevention – up to 14 weeks when applied as a jetting fluid.
  • Dual active blowfly strike dressing.
  • Controls lice for 8-11 weeks on sheep with long wool when applied as a jetting fluid.
  • Management flexibility (ESI 14 days, WHI 2 months).

What are the mixing rates of CyrexPS Liquid?

  • Jetting Fluid for protection against Blowfly strike and Lice control – 200mL per 100L of water.
  • Flystrike Dressing for Blowfly strike control – 10mL per 5L of water.

NB – see directions for use for complete instructions, application rates and critical comments.

Why should you be using  CyrexPS Liquid this season?

  • A Dual active blowfly strike dressing:
    • CyrexPS Liquid provides dual activity against maggots when applied as a blowfly strike dressing.
    • Spinosad provides rapid knockdown control of maggots, while cyromazine prevents first-stage larvae from moulting into damaging second-stage maggots or maturing into adult flies.
    • CyrexPS Liquid is registered for the treatment of blowfly strike when applied as a dressing.
  • Controls lice for 8–11 weeks:
    • CyrexPS Liquid is also registered for the control of lice for 8–11 weeks in long wool when applied as a jetting fluid.
    • Note that treating sheep in long wool should be regarded as a ‘salvage treatment’ to reduce the lice burden and minimise fleece derangement until shearing.
    • A follow-up treatment with an effective off-shears or short wool lousicide is recommended after the next shearing.
