Description

Starmec LV Pour-on For Beef and Dairy Cattle

Active Ingredient: Ivermectin @ 10mg/mL

Similar Or Comparable To Ivomec LV Pour-On for Cattle (Boehringer), Virbamec LV Pour-On (Virbac) & Imax CD Pour-On for Cattle (Elanco)

Starmec LV Pour-on For Beef and Dairy Cattle is a ready to use low volume (LV) endectocide backline pour-on containing Ivermectin to control both internal and external parasites in beef and dairy cattle.

  • Ivermectin belongs to the macrocyclic lactone (ML) class of endectocides with broad spectrum of activity against adult and larval stages of parasitic nematodes.
  • Starmec LV Pour-on For Beef and Dairy Cattle offers reliable parasite control and excellent sustained activity for small brown stomach worm, lungworm and buffalo fly to reduce larval pasture contamination and assist in buffalo fly control.
  • The convenience of the low volume formulation means that Starmec LV Pour-on For Beef and Dairy Cattle will treat the same number of cattle at half the volume of other ML pour-ons. The concentrated dose means large cattle (600kg liveweight) can be dosed with one squeeze of a standard 30mL pour-on applicator.
  • With less weight to handle, Starmec LV Pour-on offers easier application, transport and storage.

Indications:

  • The pour-on will treat and control internal parasites including gastrointestinal roundworms, and lungworms; and external parasites including sucking and biting lice, mites, buffalo fly and cattle tick.

  • This product is formulated only for external application to cattle; do not use in other species. The formulation should be applied along the topline in a narrow strip extending from the withers to the tailhead.
  • The dose is 1mL for each 20kg of liveweight.
  • Dose the mob according to the heaviest animal by liveweight in each group (cows, bulls, calves, heifers etc.). 3. Q Is Starmec LV Pour-On safe to use around dung beetles?
Asked by Jillian O'Rourke on April 22, 2022 8:11 pm
    Answered by the admin

    Starmec LV Pour-On does not have any claims regarding safety to Dung Beetles or Earthworms.  There are other Ivermectin Pour-On's such as CattlePro Pour-On, with claims that state;

    • When used according to label directions, CattlePro Pour-on For Beef And Dairy Cattle is not likely to have an unintended effect that is harmful to the environment or have an overall adverse impact on dung beetle or earthworm populations.
    • Increased mortality and impaired development of dung beetle larvae may be expected, but for a limited period after treatment.
    • There may also be a short-term indirect effect on the rate of earthworm colonisation of dung pats.

Cattle Drenches made from Moxidectin (i.e. Cydectin Pour-On) are considered the safest option for Dung Beetle and Earthworm safety.

Precautions:

  • Use only in well-ventilated areas or outdoors.
  • Close container when not in use.

Note to User:

  • The colour of Starmec Pour-on For Beef And Dairy Cattle may fade when exposed to light. This loss of colour does not reflect loss of potency of ivermectin. However, prolonged exposure (i.e. weeks) to light can result in a gradual decline of ivermectin potency in the formulation.
