Spinner Turf Insecticide controls Argentine Stem Weevil larvae, Scarab Beetle larvae, and caterpillars (Armyworm and Cutworm) in established turf. It is the latest and most innovative combination insecticide that consistently controls Argentine Stem Weevil larvae throughout summer, ensuring your greens aren’t damaged by this destructive pest.

Spinner Turf Insecticide can be used as a preventative or early curative solution for African Black Beetle, Argentinian Scarab, and Billbug larvae and for the rapid control of caterpillars when these are present. Spinner is an excellent complementary product with Acelepryn Turf Insecticide for season-long control of insect pest larvae on all turf surfaces.

Why choose Spinner Turf Insecticide:

  • A combination insecticide that rapidly controls the larvae of beetles, weevils and Lepidoptera species.
  • It can be used as a preventative or early curative treatment.
  • Highly effective solution for Argentine Stem Weevil (AWS) in bent/poa golf greens.
  • The systemic movement makes it effective against the hard-to-reach early instar of ASW inside the stem.
  • An excellent complementary product with Acelepryn Turf Insecticide for season-long control of insect pest larvae.
  • Suitable for use in established turf.
  • It can be used in rotation with Provaunt Turf Insecticide for Argentine Stem Weevil (ASW) control, for highly effective resistance management.
  • Rapid control of a wide range of pests.

What pests does Spinner Turf Insecticide target:

  • African Black Beetle Larvae (Heteronychus Arator)
  • Argentine Stem Weevil Larvae (Listronotus Bonariensis)

  • Billbug Larvae (Sphenophorus Brunnipennis)
  • Black Cutworm (Agrotis Ipsilon)
  • June Beetle Larvae (Phyllophaga Sp)
  • Lawn Armyworm (Spodoptera Mauritia)

Spinner Turf Insecticide can be used as a preventative or early curative insecticide when controlling larvae of various grubs and weevils.

  • African Black Beetle/Argentinian Scarab/Billbug:
    • Spinner can be applied from spring onwards to control these species.
    • The application should target the early stages of population development, with timing based on knowledge of historical seasonal peaks or recognition of signs/symptoms of damage from active larvae.
  • Argentine Stem Weevil:
    • Spinner can be applied multiple times throughout the spring/summer period to coincide with the generational activity of young larvae in soil, thatch or stems.
    • Caterpillars (Armyworm and Cutworm)
    • Spinner will provide rapid curative caterpillar control and should be applied when pest/damage is observed.

Spinner Turf Insecticide is a water-dispersible granule (WG) formulation with minimal odour and non-staining properties. Spinner contains 200 g/kg cyantraniliprole, a member of the anthranilic diamide insecticides and 200 g/kg thiamethoxam, a member of the neonicotinoid insecticide group.

Tips For Use

Mixing:

  • Add the required amount of Spinner to clean water in a half-filled spray tank with the agitator or by-pass in operation.
  • Maintain agitation while filling the tank with the remainder of the water.
  • Agitate whilst spraying.

Application:

  • Do not apply with aircraft or through any type of irrigation equipment.
  • Ensure even application in order to achieve even disease control.
  • Avoid overlapping sprays.
  • Ensure that the boom height for broadcast application does not exceed 50 cm above the leaf blades of the turf.
  • Avoid application under conditions when uniform coverage cannot be obtained or when spray drift may occur.
  • Soil Insects: Application volumes for soil insects (African Black Beetle, Argentinian Scarab, June Beetle, Argentine Stem Weevil and Billbug) should be as high as possible (700 to 1000 L/ha) to ensure placement close to the soil surface.
    • Use nozzles that produce very coarse to extremely coarse droplets (e.g. Air Induction 08 nozzles).
    • Preferably spray onto wet or dewy turf. Irrigate with at least 3 mm of water commencing within 1 hour of application.
  • Surface Insects: Application volume for leaf and crown-feeding insects (Argentine Stem Weevil, Cutworm and Armyworm) should be adequate to ensure thorough and even coverage of the turf leaves and penetration to the crowns.
    • Total application volume should be 300 to 500 L/ha. Use coarse droplets (eg Air Induction flat fan 025 to 04 nozzles).
  • In higher cut turf (≥15 mm) a significant spray shielding effect can occur, impacting negatively on spray penetration and even coverage at low application volumes.
